Good plan. Then I can go back in for another round.

The habits of our fanbase have both changed and not changed at all over the course of a generation.

Plus ça change, etc.

Well we need a lift, the whole club needs a lift and we need to score a f'n goal or several!

Nevermind Real, we need that lift.

Mendy

Dave

Chalobah

Badiashile

James

Zakaria

Really interested to see if the Bridge has empty seats.

Am taking my 6yo and hoping for an aggressive response from the team against the seagulls, need to shut them up

The less relevant game this season 😭

Anyway, I really don't want to watch another PL game for the rest of the season.

We actually underdog.. hard days...

----------- Mendy ----------

Azpi - Fofana - Badiashile - Chilwell

------ Enzo ----- Zakaria-----

Madueke --- Mount --- Mudryk

----------- Fofana --------

or 3-4-3

----------------- Mendy ---------------

--- Fofana --- Chalobah ---- Badiashile

Azpi ------ Enzo --- Zakaria ----- Chilwell

------- Mount --------- Mudryk ------

--------------- Fofana ------------

Nothing to lose, just play offensive game, give the players the confidence and feeling of success.

COME ON CHELS!

Is it his/her first match?

This could be a difficult match, Brighton higher up the league as have been playing better football and us on the rebound from losing to RM with little to play for in the league.

They will be fresher too.

Lets hope after their recent media coverage we don't give the ref any VAR decisions ..........

Lineup is nailed on! Only swap I would make is Chukwuemeka for Zakaria. The Madrid game is the only relevant game left in the season, we need to start giving ample game time to all the Jan signings & building towards the future.

no we've been up a few times last two seasons, saw the ladies match last week against Lyon- bit difficult explaining to him all the chopping and changing with managers though, luckily he plays in my U7 team and is top scorer- so watching all these talented youngsters is baffling- where do they all go!

                    Slonina/Bergstrom

Azpilicueta - W.Fofana - Badiashile - Chilwell

                           Zakaria

                Fernandez - Chukwuemeka

Madueke           D.D.Fofana                Mudryk

As Dave is fit again, I'd drop James as a deserved kick up the arse. Let the fans give Azpi some appreciation for a great Chelsea career etc etc

For the rest of the line up, may as well have a better look at some of Boehly's "potential" signings ...

Zakaria, as our only natural DM left at the club, should be playing. Don't really understand why he hasn't been used more. His pace, height and positional discipline are three things we are sorely lacking at the moment.

I'd like to see Carney play in one of the AM roles, as I think he has goals in his kit bag. Also Fernandez in a more advanced role.

Eight matches to go and we still do not have 40 points and have not scored for 5 matches.

Certainly wary of playing Azpi when he might have Mitoma running through the lines.

Is Silva fit?

really want to see DD upfront and I hope Dennis stays, he's a fighter and scores

Apparently Zakaria is the 5th fastest player in the PL this season.

Mudryk is the fastest.

Neither are used much, and yet pace is one of the key attributes needed if you want to "hurt" the opposition. Really don't understand why they aren't used more ...

Brighton since the introduction of Moises Caicedo last spring:

36 games
18 W - 9 D - 9 L
or = 63 points, also known as comfortably the third best team in the league during that timespan.

Better goalie (arguably), better defenders (I'd say), better midfield (undubious) and better strikers (up for discussion) than Chelsea and I struggle to see you getting anything from this game, especially between two Real Madrid games.

Last time Frank Lampard faced Brighton, he walked into every single trap and had the team play exactly like De Zerbi and Brighton wanted.

If your boys can avoid losing with more than three goals, you should consider it a win.

Hard to disagree sadly. Is De Zerbi suspended after the Spurs game? Or did they rescind that?

I notice you don't advocate "better manager" ... one we could all agree on hands down !

Better goalie ? Both Kepa and Mendy have better PL save %s than Sanchez/Steele this season, and are also much better on keeping out shots that could reasonably be expected to be goals (the PSxG +/- stat on FBRef).  Sanchez/Steele are actually conceding more than he should on that stat analysis.

In addition, the Brighton defence has conceded 36 PL goals in Brighton's best ever season vs Chelsea defence conceding 31 in our worst results season in the last 25 years 🙂

Our main problems are midfield (creating) and attack, so Brighton having the upper hand there is a fair enough observation, although I do wonder how much of that is down to having De Zerbi's tactics and focus vs what we have seen from Potter/Lampard though, rather than better players.

Well, yeah. Goalie is highly debatable. I could agree with that. Defending has been poor from time to time but while James and Silva would make the Brighton starting eleven, I'm not sure Koulibaly, Fofana etc. are any better than Colwill (and certainly not Dunk).

I mean De Zerbis tactics are nice but Brighton were scoring for fun in the last five-six months with Potter in charge, with a very similar goal average to what they've had with RDZ in charge. So its clearly about more than just the manager(s).
