There is a good argument both for and against Pochettino taking over right away or at the end of the season.

I do like the ide and him having these 4 weeks to figure out who he wants to keep, judge attitudes and see what he needs.

However a more important point is, if they people long involved in football are in agreement and advising you to do one thing, and you do another when you know f all about the game, then you really are arrogant and stupid.

He's a meticulous bugger, he will have already done his due diligence. I don't think he will learn anything more either at Cobham or in the dugout.

One thing he could have learned about was the mentality and committment  of each individual player. That he can't do from a distance and that would presumably have been very valuable in terms of deciding who to keep and who to sell this summer.

You'd think Lampard and the coaching staff will inform him. Pochettino shouldn't be involved in this atrocity of a season.

I just think we made our bed, now we need to lie in it. Mistake after mistake spearheaded by Boehly.

From Los Angeles, the green light has arrived for Mauricio Pochettino and in London the official announcement is now expected. In planning for next season, Romelu Lukaku’s position will be one of the first topics of discussion for President Boehly. (GdS)

I don't think he can because right now he would likely give everyone an F on mentality and committment as everyone's given up. Even Thiago Silva who's Mr.Professional have very clearly given up so you can't really judge anyone at the moment as far as i'm concerned.

I think the task facing us in the summer is way bigger than most realize. There will literally be close to 40 first teamers in the squad so there are so, so many who needs to leave and who's going to decide that now? Pochettino after less than a month in the job and after zero competitive games and zero high intensity training sessions with any of them? Doesn't make sense to me.

I think he has an idea of who he wants and who he doesn't. The absolute scenes first day of preseason training. Going to be a queue to enter the training ground.

Number is closer to 50 when you add the Colwill, Maatsen u21 loan batch. There is nothing that stops them from announcing he is starting in July, he can attend games, speak to players, tell those without a future to go find a new contract, and even tell Lamps who to stop choosing, and who he needs to have a closer look at in the last 4 games. You bet they announce a new permanent manager before the weekend, he is in attendance at our games, and players will suddenly start putting in more effort.

For example you have players like Ziyech & RLC, the former has been on the market for the last 2 seasons and has had offers but is insisting on clubs matching his £120k/a wages. At 30 he is comfortable riding out the last 2yrs of his contract as he knows no one will match his demands. He needs to be told he doesn’t a future. RLC also has an offer from AC Milan but they don’t want to match his £150k/w wages. He will be OK sitting out the last yr of his contract and walking on a free. Those 2 examples need to be resolved now, not in July.

By His own words he's condemned himself. I wonder if he'd have Mourinho back? he coached at Tottenham and Man Utd.  "proper Chels" indeed!

Have no idea why De Zerbi is not being considered. There was essentially a club statement really early on that he "didn't fit the profile we are looking for" but that's just a bunch of bull as far as i'm concerned. Especially when Kompany & Ange are considered options.

De Zerbis work at Brighton is genuinely very impressive. Actually great with youth as well, yesterday they beat United with 2 teenagers and Billy Gilmour on the pitch and if Even Ferguson was fit he'd be playing too.

The only reason is that its embarrassing to go back to Brighton again, I reckon. Well, that and the fact that he might not want the job at the moment

Agreed, he's been very impressive. I loved his Sassuolo team as well, but I didn't know de Zerbi was the coach during that time until just recently

Do you think his method will translate with better player?

Most people will say absolutely. But that is not always the case. Zerbiball is similar to Sarriball although imo de zerbi is much better but as you can see with sarri it didn't work in juve nor with us.

To be fair the teenagers played well, Gilmour was actually on song and Mitoma is one of the players of the season, never mind McAllister.  But yes they press all over all game, pass vertically and the midfield goes very fast. He’s done well this season, no denying it

De Zerbi's football is a lot more forward minded than Sarri's or Potters for that sake. So I don't agree with that comparison.

It is not being offensive or defensive.

It is about how you structure your offense. Do you tell the player I want your to do a, b n c. Move here, move there. Or you give them structure (loose/rigid) and let the player solve the problem themselves.

Ok, agree with that. I think we need someone who's very specific about what they want and in that regard De Zerbi is probably the best option.

For me, I don't care too much about tactic. I want a manager who can work with player and can improve them. We have murdyk, enzo, Colwill, Madueke, etc2.

In term of de zerbi. It will be fascinating to see how he will fare in better team. With sarri, I knew he will not last with juve. Sarri want to play football his way, it is easy to tell jorgi do a, b n c. You can't do that with Ronaldo

I think this is it.

They didn't do due diligence on Potter, because Todd was sacking a well liked manager he looked around and with the English media's buzz around GP jumped on that wagon and appointed without any competent, not even thorough but competent, recruitment process.

Now they are trying to have some semblance of organisation around their recruitment, the ego himself, which has led us to where we currently are now probably sees it as a humiliating bruising to said ego to go to Brighton again.
