I remember him saying the people who took us over had no idea what they were doing and taking a scatter gun approach and he was attacked by Chelsea fans me included, how wrong we were. He doesn’t always get his analysis right but I think on this I agree with him.

Same here. I was one of the fans that didn’t agree with him and he turned out right. Not a huge fan of Gary but he’s been pretty spot on this season, also got attacked by arsenal fans about them bottling the title and he was right.

If it wasn't for the embarassment of getting another Brighton coach, De Zerbi would have been considered much more seriously. The football Brighton are playing is amazing.

Even after dropping key players they still smashed Wolves 6-0, it's clear they aren't being carried by player quality. He's genuinely an elite coach.

Most shots against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge ever, even if you take into account how sh*t we are that's still ridiculous. City, Barca, Real and Flick's Bayern couldn't manage that

And Brighton fans are praising Billy Gilmour 's performance today. Rare start for him , but seems to have impressed everyone.

Pleased for the feller.

Getting well late for the Pochettino announcement isn't it ?

I hate Spurs as much as anybody but lets be honest if we became Premier League champions and Champions League winners under him his Spurs connection will soon be forgotten!  In fact I'd take 'top 4' under him right now, I'd rather be 'top 4' and competing with an ex Spurs manager than fighting relegation watching 'dross' like we're seeing now under somebody else!

I want what's best for our club,  that's more important to me than denying potential success because of tribalism and prejudice.

And I loved the trip to Amsterdam and winning the Europa Cup.

Pochettino looks good on paper but I have my doubts on how good he'll be. Tottenham had Kane, Eriksen, Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld and Vertonghen all in their prime, their squad was a lot better than what we have currently.

Though the flip side is that Pochettino did develop those players, so we'll have to wait and see

That's the conundrum isn't it ?

If our players are not good enough, how can we blame our managers ? Personally I reckon we got some decent talent, hopefully Pochettino ( if he joins us !) can get it to work.

No breaking news yet ?

The silence is deafening.

Not really, we see it all the time with both transfers and manager appointments.

There's only so many times you can recycle the same reports at this stage.

Fabrizio Romano on Pochettino to Chelsea: "Why the deal is not in place or completely not announced yet is because they are working on the final crucial points of the contract - length, clauses.... We wait, but all sources are very confident on this appointment.”

Given the Atletics piece on everything going wrong at the club, the new manager won't make much of a difference until the new owners either shape up, or ship out in 9 years.

Put it this way, if you're Mudryk, D Fofana, Madueke, Chukuemeka or Badiashile and you have the likes of Pulisic, Gallagher, Koulibaly and Havertz starting ahead of you despite being awful all season I would be frustrated too.

I thought Lampard coming in would mean an attempt to bring through these youngsters we are building a team around but no, he's gone for the same sh*t that's got us into the mess we're in now, most of those players have no future at the club yet Lampard is starting them. Once Pochettino is in and we develop a proper philosophy and ship out the dead wood we will be back in the top 4 next season easily.

In my opinion I thought stuff like this would be below The Athletic, easy clickbait articles that realistically aren't a revelation, who'd have thought young exciting players coming into a team that has had two clueless managers overseeing the team and not being played in favour of players who have sunk us down to 12th place would be considering if they've made the right decision. I guess a journo is a journo

I'd be delighted almost, that bunch are getting better and better the more they don't play.

Not a genius to think that .. we can only go up from here.. but yeah Nev is still better than Owen and Carra.

So we are waiting for Pochettino. The Pochettino. AND we are going to hire transfer 'guru' Paul Mitchell apparently and have a complete overhaul of the squad. We got Frank for the rest of the season, that is just the way it is. Frank until the end of this season.  Only a fool would want to take the job now. Never knew what happened to that kiwi motivational coach we hired, the one with the magic broom, whatever he did clearly didn't work. So, The Pochettino is on his way. The Pochettino wants to keep Pulisic, so that should make the Americans happy. I am happy to keep Christian, although its been so long I can barely remember what he plays like. Mass clear out in the summer.  At least 14 players leaving.  A new goalkeeper maybe? A new striker possibly. Onwards.. . .

How big is our transfer team now? Too many cooks spoil the broth

Yeah my thoughts too. Didn't we look at Mitchell before appointing Winstanley and Stewart? Or is he going to be the director of football we hoped to hire Edwards for?

Either way why so many people in these roles?

Mitchell rumors only surfaced because of Pochettino.

Reports now saying it’s false and club happy with Stewart and Winstanley.

It’s got to be Pochettino. Outside of Pochettino, there’s no-one else unless we want to take a massive risk. The club need to get it done.

I am hoping the reason it is taking so long is because Pochettino has seen what has been going on and is being smart. Lining up everything he wants/needs in his contract.

For example if he wants Todd and co to steer clear of the dressing room it is in the contract. If he gets say on transfer in and out, in the contract etc.

That way they fully understand each other, and hopefully work well together.
