Think you could rule out any promising manager like De Zerbi or Amorim. They won't want to destroy their reputations by managing this unmanagable lot.

Final payday for Mourinho?

Pochettino would be a funny choice. Spurs had relegation form in their final 12 months with him in charge, then he moved to PSG where he finished second in a one-horse-race where he had the only horse. No chance that he will get the job in a bigger or better club than Chelsea or Spurs.

Joined halfway through the season when the one and only Tuchel left them in 3rd, and then won the league comfortably the following season.

As Graham Potter, Kasper Hjulmand, Peter Bosz and Mauricio Pochettino all experienced, cleaning up after Tuchel is not a simple task because you get a physically poorly trained team where half of the players has been ran over by a bus and the other half think they are untouchable gods.

Still, Pochettino made some very poor and cowardly decisions during that first spring, trying to protect leads rather than playing to their undeniable superiority in terms of quality.

But yeah, ok. In the end they won the league in the second season, which would probably have been achieved by any manager given that they got Messi that summer, but still.

More concerning for Chelsea fans would be how Spurs eventually turned into sh*t, and how impossible it was for Pochettino to stop the poor form once it began. Of course, some of it wasn't his fault - the Tottenham board didn't really provide him with enough quality players - but 11 months of relegation form is quite spectacular.

Why would you rule them out ? They would be the most likely to jump at the chance of managing a bigger club. You're just saying that because Potter destroyed his reputation.

Because their chance will come anyway so they don't have to move the first time a good opportunity comes around.

Graham Potter came in at a time when it was difficult to know if Todd Boehly & co actually knew what they are doing or not.

After four managers in a season, building a squad with more than 30 players, a lot of stupid twittering and dressing room visits, ambitious managers will just look the other way when Chelsea comes calling. There is no point in coming to a club where the owner is hell-bent on making the job impossible.

Both Amorim and De Zerbi (and Nagelsmann) can afford to wait for a club owned and run by grown-up people.

We are “following the process” and “doing our utmost due diligence” as if a long queue of elite qualified managers are desperate to coach us.

face it Todd! You don’t have a lot of credible options left! Get on with it and don’t act like you can behave arrogantly and still have top quality elite managers accepting working with you and coaching us. You have made Chelsea the most undesirable club to coach in a long time not seen since Roman times.

The big question is who's the unnamed candidate?!

Are they being kept anonymous for fear of the fans reaction? I doubt it

Are they being kept anonymous because their team is still very much in the hunt for trophies and are having a successful season and it could be a distraction to the players, coach and their board? Perhaps

Is it a superstar name who's also speaking with other clubs and doesn't want to get too heavily linked with us? I doubt that too.

Zidane for example is being linked with Juve and its apparently his priority. I see ZZ going to Juve, Nagelsmann to PSG.

I think Anceolotti stays at Madrid for at least one more season. However if Madrid do move for a Nagelsmann or a Jose, Anceolotti you would assume would go to Brazil NT, unless we've managed to entice him.

Jose claims he wants to stay at Roma however its being reported he's open to an approach. Is he the mystery man?

Can't be Conte surely his reason fall out with the Spurs board would suggest he's not suitable. Yet we looked into Nagelsmann who had a similar issue with his board so I suppose he can't be ruled out.

Surely Sarri can't be the mystery man, although he's working wonders in Italy again. Maybe he could be enticed.

Flick I doubt wants to leave Germany. But it could be him and he doesn't want the German FA to know just yet as he's still deciding.

Some think it could SFL, I don't think it should be him. I love Frank but he's not the man for the long-term project right now.

Regarding Simeone, the Athleti board recently spoke about the fact he's staying and finishing his contract but no talks of an extension. Doubt it's him.

Aside from these who else could it be?

Tbf I see it from both sides, people need to stop assuming we're being rejected it seems like it's both sides agreeing its not the right fit just yet. Both Nagelsmann and Enrique reports suggest this.

Basically the board got their first long-term appointment wrong, they should have done what they're doing now. The problem is now when every coach expects them to have their footballing vision laid out, because they stupidly bought all these players they now want to build around them and it gives the new coach very little say in a mass recruitment drive.

Despite this there is an opportunity for a mass clear out and a chance to start again, although certain players such as the new Jan signings will be expected to stay. Forcing the new coach to work with them whether they want to or not.

So when Enrique wants half a new starting line up and we cant oblige and when Nagelsmann sees all the different profiles of coaches they're interviewing and not prioritising him that's where their interest diminishes alongside our own for their lack of flexibility to accommodate our current situation.

Yes the footballing people behind the scenes should have decided the profile of coach they want and we shouldn't see so many stylistic differences between the candidates. That being said their is an overarching theme of being able to win, alongside develop youth and most importantly play attractive football.

If this is their criteria and they want to take as long as possible to vet each candidate, I can understand that after making such big mistakes in their first year.

They must be certain when they hire the next head coach. Does this mean they want a yes man, I think their experience with Potter would have shown them they also need a strong charismatic leader who will be working alongside them but can also be firm with the players and the board a out what is needed.

Add all these ingredients together and its only natural we have progressed to see Pochettino as the new leading candidate. The problem is reports suggesting he's doing the best can be taken with a grain of salt, we saw Enrique lead and then drop out all of sudden, same with Nagelsmann. The majority of the reports that come out don't know really what's happening all we can do is just wait and hopefully it is decided within the next 10 days as has just been reported (if that's to be believed).

I expect it is Lampard as he is the only one that has met with Boehlyvand sill wants to be here. Lol.

I was warming to Silva from Fulham until the ridiculous loss of fade in blowing up in the FA Cup

I think I'm getting too into this, had a dream last night Simeone became our manager and we liked him but was scared he'd have us playing 1-0 games all season with too much emphasis on defence.

Nothing wrong with 1v0 wins. jose Mark 1 had a lot of them. We were a machine. So strong. So physical. So entertaining, yet also pragmatic at the same time. Perfect balance.

My heart says Mourinho, of the available options. But let's be honest, it won't happen. Boehley et al want a manager who will let them do what they want - suggest tactics, take tour groups around the changing room at HT. Mourinho would not stand for any of it, so he won't be the man for the job. Sooner these twats sell the club to someone competent, the better.

Jose Mourinho Agree GIF by AS Roma

Even if Mourinho would be a quick fix (he wouldn't) these sticky plasters methods have contributed to getting us in this mess in the first place.

If/when we challenge for it again I want it to be at a point it can be sustained over a number of years, the last three title 'defenses' have been utter abject misery.
