Play for penalties? you play for penalties when you get to that point, you don't just sit back and try and see it out until then. And if we were playing for penalties, why the f**k did he take Chilwell off who is one of the best strikers of the ball at the club? Just a complete embarrassment of a coach.

It's sh*tting on the entire club and supporters. He'll fit right in with Boehly & Eghbali though, they've done that for almost two years already!

Still doesn’t beat Liverpools 6 starters missing. They brought on academy kids, we brought on Nkunku, Mudryk, and Madueke. 150m worth of players vs Liverpool’s academy. Theres no defending this. True. But Nkunku is still half a player after his injuries, sadly. Madueke and Mudryk may have cost a lot, but have hardly justified their fees to date. Did you really expect either to make much impact against a decent team like Liverpool? Neither look good enough if we have ambitions beyond midtable. I would have been more confident with Gilchrist over Chalobah, given he has played barely any minutes. But other than that we would have had to have turned to academy prospects. Can you imagine if Poch had gone for them instead, and we had still lost?

Agree those are awful comments. He is the boss so the tactical decisions are on him.

It's also the standard of those players missing, now we all judge players at different levels but no one has seen Lavia play and Fofana and James have spent 2 years injured. I personally feel even if Liverpool just had Salah back then the game would have been over pretty quick with the intensity and pressure Liverpool play at in those early stages.

We are incapable of going on the type of winning run that would be needed. More likely 10th, and FFP problems in the summer will mean we will have to hope this current squad can be improved.
February 25, 20242 yr We need @Sexyfootball to come and defend Poch to give some balance to the thread.

This is a cup final and he subbed off our two most dangerous players in Jackson and Gallagher. The latter missed chances but he still was one of the best players on the pitch. Chilwell too being subbed off was ridiculous. I’m with you that Mudryk and Madueke are awful but you’d be hard to convince me they are any worse than Liverpool’s U21’s. Neither should’ve been brought on as I alluded to in my first paragraph. Poch played a counter attacking game and conceded the match. Yet he has the gull to try and tell us that Enzo who fought hard in a WC final for 120 mins, European Champion Ben Chilwell, and the engine that is Gallagher, all wanted penalties? Not buying that.

I am just making the point that we literally had no central midfield options on the bench, beyond untested academy players, due to injuries. As a result we had to replace Gallagher with a winger leaving our midfield unbalanced.

There is the difference. We ended up having no clear alternative in centre of the park because we picked names over need on the bench

I can only assume Gallagher was exhausted. Those 2 subs definitely handed the initiative back to Liverpool in extra time. If we really played for penalties that was gutless, especially after losing twice that way to them a couple of years ago. I would have rather we lost have a genuine go at them in extra time.

Gilchrist is another example. Why not bring him on, if Chilwell needed a sub? Move Gusto to the left.

I don’t believe it. Especially his reaction being subbed off. It’s a vote of no confidence from me. Sack him end of the season but use the time from now until then to bring in a manager with balls and can set up some tactical discipline.

February 25, 20242 yr He Gives The Players No Positivity Or Any Chance If Going Out There Taking The Game By The Scruff Of The Neck And Winning An Important Game, He's Got A Defeatist Mentality And Hopefully He'll Be Chucked Out Soon I Know A Lot Of Players Are Poor But It's Tiny Fixes That Poch Is Missing Everytime On

I was previously in the camp of letting him see out his contract but I think they should let him go at the end of the season. Based on what I've seen in the last few months, I don't believe in the view point that our players aren't good enough, this team is capable of finishing top 6 but Poch cant even get them to top 8.

Move Gusto to the left. Frank has been our only manager who truly trusted our youth in my lifetime - although I’ll actually give Potter some credit here. The rest of our managers have never given them a chance like Liverpool do. It probably helps knowing you’re not getting the sack if you lose your next game

Move Gusto to the left. Exactly that. There was an interesting discussion on the radio just yesterday about the Liverpool youth academy. Couldn't verify the truth but it basically said there is a cap on youth player salaries which is a shed load less than other clubs would pay them but what they do is regularly and clearly explain to them what their path to the first team is and that if they prove themselves they will get their chance .
February 25, 20242 yr Why wait until end of season to get rid of him? Sack him now, his loser mentality isn’t helping anyone. Why stick with it?

Personal my main issue about sacking him now is that there's no one to replace him and the season might crash and burn like last year if we sack him. We still have a shot at finishing 7th for europe so I'd wait until the end of the season before sacking him.
