So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

Mentality in extra time was concerning, surely there was enough encouragement in the last 10/15 of normal time to show there was a goal there for the taking.

Mentality issue running through the club at the moment, getting rid of him doesn’t solve it. Doesn’t mean he’s blameless though, is certainly complicit

That's the difference between a winning manager and one never won anything. When the game is on the line, the one with winning mentality would go for it, rather than playing safe and hope something happens. No match winner in the team, manager never won anything, it would be a surprise if we actually beat them last night.

Given 99% of people on here now want him sacked, how likely do we actually think it is that he's getting the boot soon? Or will he last the season? Or worse, is he going to start next season with us?

Will likely be in summer given the Lampard fiasco last season

Only way he gets sacked now is if the future manager is willing to join straight away, which is unlikely

And even if we sack him in the summer, who realistically are we going to get that will be an upgrade? We are no longer an elite club and the other teams will pick the good managers off. We’re second best nowadays.

What an upgrade on this bloke? I don't know, Roy Hodgson would be an upgrade to this.

This blokes approach and management throughout and after has lost a vast number of the fanbase I reckon.

Poch is very bad at English and being misunderstood again.

His point about playing for pens is that the team were gassed and had no more to give.

It was a reactive plan that happened on the pitch,  not a proactive one planned by Poch

I think your take is correct.

This is his press interview after the game : https://www.google.com/search?q=pochettino+interview&oq=pochettino+interview&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCTY2MjhqMGoxNagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:25b12e41,vid:QTo6I8Bt8jI,st:0

I'm not hearing anything in that to support all this diatribe about Poch setting our tactics in ET to play for penalties.

And regardless of any of that, if you're supposedly shutting up shop to play for penalties, do you really bring on the likes of Madueke and Mudryk after 90 and 97 minutes respectively ?  That wouldn't be in my play book LOL

In terms of points per game Tuchel's Bayern is actually about the same as most of their previous seasons

Leverkusen are currently on course for the best Bundesliga season in history, any Bayern manager would have likely failed

A points per game ratio that this bloke and his motley crew of bang average kids could only dream of.

I don't think anyone can think of any reason to ever bring Mudryk or Madueke on at all

I agree that Poch's English is poor and that he is often misunderstood.  That's why I struggle to reconcile this with the bollocks I hear that he is such a great man manager

0%. It's the right sensible move, so there is no way these moronic cretins that are destroying our club will break the relentless path of destruction that they have set out for us

Does what you are saying fit fan's opinion though? 😂😂😂

I thought it is quite obvious what he meant by his statement.

This.

I’m not buying this fatigue narrative. This was his decision and he’s throwing the players under the bus.

Liverpool players were tired as well. Klopp brought on academy players and told them to go for it. He didn’t tell them to sit back and play for penalties. Even though they were on the ropes going into the end of normal time.

Poch played right into their hands in extra time. Klopp probably couldn’t believe his luck. We were in the ascendancy and Poch decides to play for penalties! Unforgivable that a manager should even think like that.

There’s no coming back from that. Can you imagine any self-respecting manager letting weakened opposition off like that? Pathetic. The longer he stays the more damage he does to the players’ mentality and confidence. I said that we should have got rid of him after the defeats to Liverpool and Wolves. It’s amazing he’s still at the club.

No way he survives the debacle of that extra time display. It’s not his fault we didn’t win it in normal time but it’s his responsibility that we played for 30 mins in extra time on the back foot and lost the game. It was the most cowardly and pathetic display from a manager in a big game I can recall.

Of course he should have gone after the defeats to Liverpool and Wolves a few weeks back, but we’ve decided to wait till the summer. We’re stuck with him until then and I don’t even think defeat to Leeds will change that.

Rumour is his payout clause to be sacked in the summer if (when) we don't qualify for CL is far, far smaller than if we sack him beforehand.

All of this "young Liverpool team" when they were still older than our team, and that's part of the problem. We've been playing with inexperienced boys all season who half of them can barely keep fit and you wonder why we are in the position that we are.

But I'm not defending Pochettino on this one, that simply put, was terrible management. What's with this Chalobah sub? That's twice it's bit us in the arse, can't do an awful lot for his confidence can it. I just don't know anymore... I'm at a big loss. I don't like what has been said and our gameplan in ET. Anyone could see how different the boys were in ET, the performance drop was SEVERE. It's up to the manager to prevent that, I can't be too harsh on him with our setup, the players should've finished off the game, but ET... Oh boy... This is why you're called a bottler Poch.

I think he misspoke about playing playing pens.

You don't play for pens and bring on Mudryk and Noni, along with Palmer and Nkunku being on, and leave your defence exposed.

You go to a back 5 of Chilwell, Colwill, Disasi, Chalobah and Gilchrist, push Gusto further forward and leave Nkunku and Palmer up top to counter.

You then bring on Noni as a taker in the 120th minute and have Nkunku, Palmer, Gallagher, Enzo and Noni as your pen takers.

Either way Poch messed up in extra time.

He didn't, that was just propaganda from the bin dippers!

He did say about Drogba diving though!

Didn't he say stuff about the fans though? I know a lot of it is misrepresented, but I believe he had a go at our fans saying the club had to hand out plastic flags as a means to make atmosphere, whereas our fans (Liverpool at the time) didn't have to do as such.

Sarri got booed for playing possession with no risk, is Poch loved by fans for conceding matches and literally surrendering 30 minutes before the final whistle?!?!

I don't know who would or should be the next manager but I know one thing, Pochettino is not a winner! He won't win anything, full stop he won't win any trophy here, you can literally steal Mbappe and turn Mudryk into prime Ronaldo we won't win anything with him, ever.

This was Klopp's easiest final EVER part from the CL final where he ALSO won against Poch, let it sink in.

I can't see how that can be a thing though other than a pro rated amount for the extra few months surely.

I think it's more to do with personality, rather than tactics or preparation. Top managers who are winners, like Jose or Conte in their prime would inspire and motivate players, and you could tell how it transferred onto players demeanor and application on the pitch. In a way, every team is a copy of its manager. This one is soft and has no belief in itself.

We had enough quality last night to win the final against seriously weakened Liverpool team. But we didn't have the confidence the winners do, because of who's in charge. I'm sure the players like Poch on a personal level but he doesn't command their respect.

If it's true, he's not very smart or over estimated himself by agreeing to it. I mean we could still get the CL spot with a 6-7 games winning run, it hasn't happened all season, so why would it happen ( or NOT happening) right now

What is the source of that rumour?  That stuff is usually fairly closely held.
