Is he better at finishing than Jackson? Yes!

Is he better at heading than Jackson? Yes!

Did he have a better goals per minute ratio than Jackson? Yes!

Does he have a better footballing brain than Jackson? Yes!

Is he better at 'putting it about' than Jackson? Yes!

Does he have less red cards than Jackson and likely to be more reliable to keep calm and not do something stupid? Yes!

Is he also good at the 1 thing Jackson is good at (running around like a bull in a china shop)? Yes!

In every metric of the game, he is individually as good as, or better than Jackson.

I accept that Guiu has not had as much oppertunity to prove himself, but the flip side is that Jackson has proved himself over and over again as being hopeless. So even if Jackson has done more at senior level - he has also consistently proven himself to not be good enough.

If Guiu's better than Jackson in every posssible aspect why is one was only good enough for Sunderland and another fetched 4th highest ever loan fee from one of the biggest clubs in Europe?

But that's not about talent or potential is it? It's simply a reflection of Jackson's previous exposure through the amount of games and minutes he has been fortunate to have played. You can flip that round. Why, if Jackson is so good as a proven experienced EPL striker, has there been zero interest in buying him?

Jackson has been tried over and over again, and been found lacking in so many facets of what is usually expected from a good striker. He has been given so many opportunities. Why persist with something that has failed?

Also, just as importantly, Guiu is already a much closer fit to the type of forward Delap is, (strong, physical, aerially adept), than Jackson ever will be.

For the reason I said. He is less experienced. For some perverse reason, people see the fact that Jackass has scored 20+ premier league goals, and think he is worth a punt on.

I would argue the oppertunity cost of playing him outweighs this. He messes up to a much higher degree than he scores.

One thing Jackson had going for him over the last two seasons is that he was generally fit and available. We completely tanked in attack when he wasn't, with no-one able to step up. Nkunku, Broja, Guiu, and now Delap have all succumbed to injuries when we needed them.

Our season right now probably depends on a long run of availability from Joao Pedro.

Whilst i will be over the moon to see the back of Jackson, having Marc Guiu as the only back up to Pedro atm is leaving us really thin. I would have preferred having got an older player in that we could use but would need to manage minutes as well.

Oh, and if that's true from Romano, Jim can finally crack open that bottle of champagne he's had on ice all summer ... obligation now included LOL, though I wonder if Bayern also have a £5m "Sancho" return clause in there !

You should know by now, by the amounts we have paid for players that the amount of any fee paid is not an indicator of how good a player is. 😂

The reason no club attempted to buy him is simple, we've overpriced him. If we were ready to sell him for a reasonable fee, he'd have been gone by now.

Now, I'm not a big fan of Jackson and him not being clinical in front of goal and a bit head case with these red cards frustrated me as much as anybody else here. But he did plenty of good things, especially in his first season, and people tend to overlook them because he's a difficult person to like. He's also not at fault for the fact that he was our first choice striker for two seasons in a row, that's on sporting directors for not doing their job and giving us different options in that position.

And if being strong, physical and good in the air is good enough to lead the attack at Chelsea, you can pretty much pick dozen strikers at Championship for a little bit of money right now. I'll say it again, just because you feel Guiu wasn't given enough oppotunities doesn't mean he's good enough. If he was, they wouldn't be loaning him out to Sunderland in the first place.

If this is true how on earth have they managed that.

If this is true, it's pretty incredible negotiating and a little daft from Bayern in my eyes...

Then again, obligation to buy might have a similar clause to the Sancho one we used.

Despite the opinion of a lot of people here, we actually have a very competent board.

I'm not sure how you've come to this conclusion seeing as the board have spent the last few days trying to keep Jackson because they've tried to enter the season with one striker again and then treated another player so badly that they refused to come back.

Still doesn't explain why one is wanted by Bayern while another was a third choice at Sunderland.

We don't really know the ins and outs.

We can only be sure of the end of the story. Which is another win.
