Marc Guehi return?

How many central defenders do we need? 🙄 What are the incentives for him to come back, apart from the money side? It's not like we are going to play in the CL next season.

He's at Crystal Palace ! What more incentive does he need LOL

Currently we have Silva, Disasi, Badiashile, Colwill, Chalobah and Fofana.

Assuming Silva retires/leaves and Trev is sold, we'd be down to Disasi, Badiashile, Colwill and the injury prone Fofana. I'd say definitely scope for one more centre back. Whether Guehi is the right one to go for I'm not sure ... his stats, for example, are pretty average ...

Does Guehi have a say in this? If so, why would he agree to come back? He'll wa t to step up from Palace and unfortunately, we're hardly an enticing prospect.

You'd have to ask him!

That being said he is a quality player, just not a player we need right now considering the other areas we're lacking.

Depends.

Disasi looks bang average (Tal Ben Haim levels) and Fofana will likely be in the medical room every now and again. Silva for much I have criticized over using him, is going to be a big void experience wise once he leaves. Having someone experienced and established in the league is a must imo.

We've got one more point than Palace.

It's a big step up for the lad 😂😂

The Athletic speculating £40m may be enough

Shame, makes it almost achievable. Perhaps we could have an entire row of the bench just for average and below average defenders.

Guehi is an upgrade on Disasi and Badiashile, probably Fofana and Tosin too in all honesty. We need a top CB though, it's something this team is desperate for, alongside a striker that has the opposition scared.

We seem to be focused on marginally better players rather than going out and getting somebody that stands out over the rest.

Expect the BlueCo PR media machine to link us with interest in him, only to turn around shortly after and state we are "happy with the depth we already have"

Seriously, where he is at in his career now, he will want to move to a club with genuine ambition and a proper development structure. Liverpool is the perfect fit as he could ultimately succeed either Van Dijk or Konate. Why would he have any interest in coming over to Clearlake's Farm where he will likely add diddly squat to his career path.

Stay in London maybe

We’ve spent as much as City (even more so) under Clearlake and look at the levels of disparity as a squad and team.

And not a single person amongst those responsible has been sacked LOL. The opposite in fact ... they've all been given improved contracts !

I'm not sure anyone at the club can even see the issue ... regardless of how blindingly obvious it is ...

On his way to Man City - £20m.

We could have bought him for £16m!

Watch us pay 3 times that amount for someone with zero Premier League experience.

Right out of the BlueCo playbook.

It is for the best really. How would we be able to tell between Marc Guehi and Marc Guiu.

Loan out or sell the one with the least Premier League experience 😉

Come the end of the season, of the 4 years they have been here we have only qualified for the Champions League once. Where we will likely get knocked out of the group stage at this rate. Each manager they've sacked, they've appointed one less experienced than the previous.

More than £2 billion spent. More than £2 BILLION....

Why do we exist if we are going to spend that much and our only goal is to try and qualify for the Champions League?
