I really don't believe the manager is forced to play certain players. I can't recall any manager prior to Maresca having to do this.

The trouble with Maresca's narrative is that if he wants to say the board picked the lineups for him, then we'd have to credit the board for top 4, Conference League and CWC.

He can't take credit for the good stuff and pin the failures on the board.

Supposedly Rosenior's long contract includes a clause that allows both parties to terminate should we not qualify for champions League next season. I suspect Maresca had similar conditions baked into his deal. So Blueco knew they would be able to terminate his deal end of season anyway and were content to tolerate the poor form in the meantime. I agree it was Maresca's challenging (especially in public) that led to the rapid exit.

Given the conditions, the long contracts seem more to favour Blueco as they lock the manager in from leaving for a better offer.

I've had a JT air freshener hanging off my cars for about 15 years. To annoy my daughter I drew 3 little tears escaping from his eyes.

Some people love the camera and John is one of them. I've mellowed somewhat in my sixties so would likely not able to see him cry for the tears in my eyes.

I notice there is a complete lack of “thank you’s” by the staff towards Maresca. I think only posted a “thank you Mister”. Maybe this says a lot.
