Such a decision would not be from a coach who wants to win trophies but from an owner who wants to maximise profit to expense if trophies. Will the new manager refuse directions from upstairs regarding who should play? I don't think so. I never liked Maresca's style of play, but the people upstairs are the underlying problem. Nothing will change if these people are still in powers. It is fascinating how these sporting directors are never appear and questioned by the fans and the media. What you mean players like Sterling & Dissasi.
January 7Jan 7 I really don't believe the manager is forced to play certain players. I can't recall any manager prior to Maresca having to do this.We were told before Maresca's appointment what he was like.

A reflection of the times I guess.Maresca was poor and Blue Co put up with it .Maresca challenged Blue co. And he was gone.Blue Co.have installed their yes man.I don't see much hate for a bloke we don't know, but I do see resentment for Blue co.

I suspect Maresca had similar conditions baked into his deal. So Blueco knew they would be able to terminate his deal end of season anyway and were content to tolerate the poor form in the meantime. I agree it was Maresca's challenging (especially in public) that led to the rapid exit.Given the conditions, the long contracts seem more to favour Blueco as they lock the manager in from leaving for a better offer.

To annoy my daughter I drew 3 little tears escaping from his eyes. Some people love the camera and John is one of them. I've mellowed somewhat in my sixties so would likely not able to see him cry for the tears in my eyes.
January 9Jan 9 I notice there is a complete lack of “thank you’s” by the staff towards Maresca. I think only posted a “thank you Mister”. Maybe this says a lot.

January 9Jan 9 Shouldn't the thread be closed for good? The guy is history and to be honest, I'm happy to forget he ever existed.

January 12Jan 12 Enzo Maresca is highly appreciated internally at Real Madrid. 😂.. His agent is just setting him up at this point. He needs to take a job in Serie A where he won’t get exposed and retain an air of mystery.

Perez doesn't give a f**k about choosing someone 'suitable', he will pick whoever he vibes. If that's Maresca, it will be Maresca and Madrid will be down this road again in 12 months.
