Enzo Maresca - Chelsea "Head Coach" *Official NOW SACKED*

Featured Replies

Yet again, we play well the first 30 minutes only to collapse and lose all cohesion and energy in the second half - and he does nothing notable about it. He seems to trust only 13-14 players which is a major issue for us. Not sure how to move forward from here

Its crazy how there were such evident problems with the squad last year and we did everything in the transfer market except for sort them out.

Going into this season with Sanchez as our GK, no elite experience at CB and no experienced goalscorer is nothing other than an abject failure by the powers that be. People should be sacked.

Really didn't like the Tosin sub either tbh, Achaempong barely put a foot wrong, then Semenyo gets half a yard on him and smashes it top corner, maybe he couldve better, but it wasn't a massive error. For Maresca to pretty much immediately sub him off, I felt was it was poor timing, and it was a needless sub. Tosin wasn't bringing anything extra.

Hopefully Achaempong doesn't have his confidence knocked as I think he has looked very capable.

I think that is because a number of the other players just aren't good enough or the club wants to sell them on. Pretty sure he has been told not to play Chilwell as they want to get his wages off the books.

It wasn't even that long today. We had a good start up until the goal, then we lost control. There was a stat that was put on the screen around the 20+ minute mark that showed Bournemouth had 80+ possession in the last 10 minutes. We lost control as soon as we scored.

I imagine Acheampong probably gets minimal minutes between now and the end of the season, which is baffling as the goal is on Sanchez more than him.

Way to kill a kids confidence, Maresca.

Completely agree. It appears to have been a petty action trying to shift blame onto the kid.

Took the cowards approach. Subbed the kid instead of his own regualr failures up top in Jackson, Sancho and Madueke.

I thought he was quite nervous to be honest.

Not going to hold it against him though, all our other options in that position (including the ones we've loaned out) have done a lot worse.

I too thought he looked nervous throughout, but it says everything about Maresca as a coach. He should have spotted that sooner, but did his usual reactive stuff and left it too late. Maresca never reacts before damage is done, he's incapable of coaching us out of these situations.

I get it that Iraola has been at Bournemouth longer, so has had more time to work with his squad, but considering the amounts we have spent compared to them and considering both their CF were injured, Iraola schooled Maresca on the coaching front. Willing to give Maresca time, but the same pattern that Leicester fans pointed out with them looks like it is happening with us. Started good then results are starting to fade. No plan B. But you can see how good of a coach Iraola is. They bossed us second half.

I said it to mates after the 5-0 v Morecambe, Maresca should be sacked.  A manager who only knows how to play in one formation.  Two wide men who are occasionally involved.  Palmer and Jackson have to bust a gut by comparison to the wide men. Inevitably we fade in the second half because Maresca is not prepared to change accordingly when the central players are tiring.

Honestly didn't see that myself.

18 years old, 1st league start at home. I'm sure he was nervous at 1st but settled quickly.

Bournemouth didn't have a sniff 1st half, 2nd half, Lavia and Caicedo gifted them an equaliser. I didn't see him making poor decisions, or showing any real panic.

Hopefully he starts next game, as like you said, the other options are shaky, as is Sanchez most of the time.

If we don't get top 4 I think serious questions need to be asked of him. I couldn't give 2 sh*ts what people will say to this, but our squad is easily the second best squad in the league, yet Maresca is making it look so limited.

You really think that?

Not convinced. If we put every player on the market how many would Liverpool, City or Arsenal want as a regular first team player?

Obviously Palmer, maybe Caciedo.  I'm already struggling.   James if fit.

If Maresca's insistence on playing with two wingers throughout every game continues, don't be surprised if Palmer becomes disillusioned with being the man we can't do without.

Absolutely, if you look at overall squads it's Liverpool and possibly a fully fit Man City. I'm taking our squad over Arsenal, Newcastle, Man Utd etc for sure.

Given Artetas track record he'll probably take most of them.

Yeah don't agree on the squad thing myself. Think most of our buys are poor.

We have Palmer, Caicedo, Lavia, James and Cucurella who would all get spots, if fit, in any of the top squads.

Everyone else is vastly overrated, imo.

Maresca is a part of the problem, but a small part. The directors picked him, like many of the players we have. They are a bigger issue. The owners being the biggest issue.

It's a matter of "when" rather than "if" he gets sacked at this point.

Problem is the same people who got every other decision wrong will be in charge of choosing his replacement.

I doubt he will be going anywhere before the end of the season. If we fail to make Champions League then they may show him the door then. But like you say it will be the same group picking any replacement.

That confirmed it for me, Maresca is absolutely piss poor at man management, one of the worst I’ve ever seen.

The way he handled Chilwell, Felix, Nkunku, Chukwumeka, Chalobah, and now Acheampong.

I can’t see how he can keep a squad happy for a whole season. He just cannot do it.
