They wouldn’t most seem to me to be desperate for him to fail. They won’t admit to it and no doubt will react to my post but sorry I can’t read quite a number of the comments any other way

Real Chelsea fans would never want a player to fail. I've never known that in all my decades as a fan

However, Internet fans are completely different.

He did well for a relegated championship level team. He is 25 with more relegations than England caps in an era anyone half devent gets a call up, as the squads are massive.

For me he is an Adam Lallana at best. 3 prem goals in 60 games, compared to 12 in 44 in the championship. Clearly thrives at one level, and us average at another.

We just spent £25m- £30m on him, I hope I'm wrong and he becomes the level of player we require, but I'm extremely doubtful given his career so far.

No, he did well for a premier league team in a season we played in the premier league and finished in the top 10.

Yes I remember seeing him playing for Leicester over 2 seasons in the Premier League and he impressed me every time I watched you lot.

You are right last year of contract does affect value that’s why I find it telling that in their window it appears no PL clubs be they mid or lower PL sides come in for him nor it seems did Villa who would know he was entering the last year of his contract and whilst we, Chelsea , would have been reluctant to sell to another PL club had Conor just said no to say AM then he would have gone where he wanted.

We were told that Spurs were going to bid. They didn’t.

As for KDH it would have been staggering if Southgate had called up KDH up. Southgate never delved into the Championship. Irrespective KDH will get an international call up next season but I suspect it will be for Ireland !

As one opportunity shuts for one of our own, another opportunity presents itself to KDH. Very best of luck to him, hope he has an incredible season and proves doubters like me wrong, really enjoy it when players do that.

And tbh, southgate shackled this england team and it got him so far, the crop of players at his disposal there isnt really a need to dip into the championship, Tony did come from there though... take it easy terraloon...

Didn't Mount play for England while with Derby in the Championship? If you're good enough, you'll play.

He may have potentially been called to a squad (cba to check) but never played until he was a Chelsea player.

Hudson-Odoi was the first.

Mount was invited by manager Gareth Southgate to train with the senior team for a week ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.[97] He was called up to the senior team for the UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain in October 2018.

So he was in and around the squad while in the Championship, made his debut at the start of September in 2019 after a handful of premier league appearances. Just shows if you're good enough, you would have played for England regardless of division.

CHO never played in the Championship either?

I meant out of that era of Cobham players, sorry should have made that clearer.

Can only be a good thing. Evan Ferguson supported by Declan Rice, Conor Gallagher and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall would give England a run for their money.

I think he will be fine once he settles in. Most likely more of a squad player for now, given our midfield options. But we will need the option to rotate in midfield over the season, especially given our players history with injuries.

I still stand by he's here to help implement the tactics and then be a squad player once one of the others can do his job and better. Sold next season for a small profit maybe.

Yeah, I repeat again...his place is on the bench once the others are upto speed on how he plays. I can't see him making that leap from Championship to PL. It's a shame really, I like his attitude so far.

Said this since preseason. Could have saved the money & given the squad space to any of Santos, Chukwuemeka or Ugochuwku.

yeah - i also seems to be lost and not have the confidence to make his own decisions. It was clear as daylight the fact that he should not do the in-out run since he was using up the space that Mudryk wanted to run into. Infact during the first half Mudyrk of all people had to gesture to him to stay inside and leave the space behind for him to run. That for me is not a good sign.

Very limited .. not sure why we bought him.

Fair assessment. He doesn’t do anything outrageously wrong but nothing great either, just average midfield performance you can get from even academy talents.

He's already made the step up, when he returned from Luton to Leicester and played well in the premier league in his first season. The question isn't whether he's a premier league player; it's whether he's good enough for where Chelsea wants to be, which I don't believe he is... unless you want to be midtable.
