I'm actually looking forward to tonight's MOTD.

We might be on first !

You do know that Liverpool played today and that MOTD is on the BBC?

We can enjoy our game after a full rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone, two hours of highlights and one hour of pundits w**king off over Arne Slot.

Sanchez - 6 - Could have done with him trying to stop their set pieces, also scuffed a clearance in the 2nd half that could have gone anywhere. Get's an extra point for his part in our 2nd goal.

Gusto - 5 - Still hasn't got going this season. Very lucky not to get a second yellow. Struggling to adapt to reverting from a traditional RB to an inverted one.

Fofana - 6 - Some nice carries out of our area, but poor from set pieces.

Colwill - 6 - Nice last ditch defending, but like Fofana, poor from set pieces. I also thought he and Fofana were getting moved around far too much at times. Not sure if that was due to them or the midfield and inverted full backs causing issues.

Cucurella - 6 - Didn't really stand out as much as others today. Quiet by his standards, even if he got involved with a few of Wolves mind games.

Enzo - 7 - I would put his performance down as solid. Struggled a little at times in the first half, but was dictating a lot of our play from deep in the 2nd half.

Caicedo - 5 - Struggled badly in the first half, pretty much a 1 or 2 out of 10. 2nd half was better before going off injured.

Palmer - 8 - He's had a sluggish start and at times today, there was more of that. But as soon as he got a yellow card, it seemed to fire him up. His goal was typical Palmer quality and the 3 assists were nice too.

Mudryk - 4 - Just not happening for him. Can't see a way back in.

Madueke - 9 - Nearly a 10/10. Looked fired up from the first minute, Wolves were panicking every time he had the ball. He's improved his weaker foot and has confidence to use it, which has made him unpredictable for defenders and a big threat for us on the attack. Best game in a Chelsea shirt.

Jackson - 7 - Got a goal and an assist, which should be great, but he was also a massive annoyance again at times.

Subs:

Neto - 8 - Was a constant threat when he came on. An instant upgrade in attack and got himself his first assist too.

Felix - 8 - An excellent 2nd debut from him. His goal was top quality and probably my favourite attack of the game.

Dewsbury-Hall - 7 - Good when he came on, another who was a big part of Felix goal.

Veiga - 5 - Didn't have much time to make an impact.

Nkunku - 5 - Same as Veiga.

I'd argue the Colwill one, thought he was our best defender first half (low bar, I know) and was superb second half, really took control at the back and his passing was alway positive.

I liked what I saw from Veiga, Scott. Seems to be able to play on the half-turn, something we lack and which is crucial to our transitions.

So true  On Sky they showed the entire walk alone w**k fest with no commentary and as soon as it ended the ref blew the whistle to start the game as if he was waiting for permission.

Worse, on their YouTube channel they made a video purely for "Arne Slots first you'll never walk alone at Anfield" 🤦‍♂️

Looking at our defence on M.O.T.D...It can't get any worse can it? The manager mentioned the needless free kicks we give away, which is good because we have done that for years..

Wow, we are first! I’m more shocked by that than us winning today!

There's no way they could have justified putting a business as usual 2-0 home win before the game of the season so far, even for Liverpool.

Apart from that I was being tongue in cheek, it certainly would be hard to justify, but the ridiculous build up to the Liverpool game with their second coming homage to Slot shows that it might have crossed their minds.

I didn’t notice our new manager get that treatment before last week’s MOTD highlights of his first home game.

Yeah and Lavia is broken again. I'm gutted about this. He genuinely looks a different level if he can just stay fit. Does anyone know how bad it is?

Apparently Lavia posted on social media that it was nothing serious and he will be back soon. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, we've been had before in rgds to its "nothing serious", "slight", "minor" stuff.

I'm worried it will keep him out for a while?

How about caicedo? I haven't scoured the websites yet to check, anybody know if he's OK?

Oh, I don't really swear at ppl much but Guy Mowbray is a D1ck!!!

Just watched MOTD2, he really can't stand Chelsea can he!

He's an absolute master at hiding his feelings every time Chelsea scored but the underhanded criticisms and his dislike for Chelsea is too hard to hide.

One example....Cunha.

He ran all the way to Jackson chatting sh*t, half the fkn pitch. Jackson moved towards him, just a few yards and the that twat Mowbray says "the Chelsea player is daft to get involved and doesn't need to go anywhere near Cunha" wtf!

It was like that across the whole highlights.

So glad Enzo made that half time change. 90% of managers keep Mudryk on for the first 15mins of the second half with insanity thinking it will change only for it to backfire. If it aint working make a 45min sub every time.

One thing about Enzo is that he is not afraid of the big decisions, in fact I think he relishes them.

Is this a fluke? I hope not.

No fluke but they lost Kilman to West Ham and that Arti Nouri guy, who I think should have been sent off, simply couldn't handle Madueke.

And Maresca made some good changes - we've got some real talent

I hate being this person but I’m gonna have to be. We should have scored 10.

They maybe should have had 5 but, when we actually need clinical finishing in the tight games that is what will let us down.

Fantastic second half honestly has made my day though.

I think you're right - Madueke himself could have got another 3 if he'd have been played in by Felix.

It is very difficult game to analyze because when you score everytime you attack, everything looks good.

Positive

Our attack was fine here, was fine vs city. But being clinical make everything looks very good.

Some similar pattern of play vs city, slightly different setup with diamond  midfield. I like involving gk in the build up because it give you advantage but finding gk who is very good on the ball and good at gk stuff is hard.

Madueke

Madueke was very good at the back end of last season and he continue his good work. Is he still for sale? 😂😂😂

Colwill

I thought Colwill had a very good game. Colwill had problem dueling last season, not suprised he get better. He was 20.

Cueva

I like our set pieces setup better this season.

Negative

It is pretty much the same as last season and vs city.

Set pieces defense

The way our player defended set pieces was criminal. So bad, same as last season.

Transition defense (worse than last season)

When we score or get something everytime we attack as we did in this game, everything looks good, but when we didn't, it was a nightmare.

Long ball+2nd ball

This is how team attacked us last season and this is how wolves attacked us. Long ball, 2nd ball, easy money.

Gusto

Gusto is very good technically for a fb but defensively he is questionable. Nothing new, same as last season.

Caicedo was horrific but he played 2, 90 minutes game. I think the plan is to play Lavia here but he is injured.

Mudyrk was not great and bringing neto improved the team. 🫣🫣

Agree here. The players look so lost defending the transition. I do wonder if that is partially due to a lack of leadership (you need players behind you to tell you who to pick up) and adjustment to systems. It's the sort of thing that gets better with experience. Look at us under Lampard with and without Thiago Silva (apart from his first game, lol).

Disagree on Gusto, he is a very, very good 1v1 defender but like the others gets lost in defending the transition and picking up runners.

The xG as it's a bit conservative for this game; most shots from Palmer's and Felix's positions would be pot-shots but theirs were very clear chances, and Madueke's chances of scoring are way above the average because of the quality of the pass and his ability to use his left foot as well. However, it is a clear lesson that being clinical covers all manner of sins.

O'Neill referenced a lack of LB during his presser. My thoughts at the time was that they must have been inverting Ait Nouri because that area was completely vacant. In fairness we probably could have scored another 3 goals during that period.
