PhilH930 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Just be ready for much more aggressive pressing, tackling and second ball contests. The thing is we all know what to expect now. For years Chelsea teams walk into this trap. I hope Maresca has them mentally ready to respond and play our game.
PloKoon13 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Some proper football heritage in the dugout at Old Trafford now. Probably the second-best Ruud to ever grace the Premier League.
Sconnie Blue Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Amorim won't be available until after international break. United stalling over paying extra as Amorim wants to take his coaching staff with him. Surely Maresca can out tactic Van Horse Face?
Malcolm9 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 We have more than enough to beat Utd this weekend, if we choose the correct back line, which needs to be James, Fofana, Colwill & Cucurella. The rest pick themselves on current form, so Lavia & Caicedo in the middle, with Neto, Palmer & Madueke playing behind Jackson. Madueke does need to step up more than he has been though, he's been a little too selfish lately. Raskolnikov, strider6004 and BelgradeCFC 3
axman2526 Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 In addition to the usual "Sanchez needs to not be a bozo" "no defensive errors" what will be key is riding out the passion that Ruud will install in both the players and fans. Can expect the players run their boll*cks off and the fans will be right behind their legend. We have to deal with that. If we do we have a chance, if we don't we will get beat.
axman2526 Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 One of the many Chelsea things I enjoy is listening to a few of the fan made YouTube channels out there. If we don't beat United then Mah, Younes, Miz and co are going to be seriously humbled lol. Been a while since I remember us going to OT with our fans so confident.
PloKoon13 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Play the first XI we deserve: Sánchez Fofana Colwill Cucurella James Caicedo Lavia Chilwell Palmer Nkunku Jackson Sexyfootball 1

Similar to TT, in possession with James and chilly providing width bombing down the sides, oh good old days. Mix it with marescas main style in the game with Caicedo as an 8 and even invert Cucurella to support lavia protecting the back 2. That would mess about a bit with any planning done by man utd. Dynamic tactics, then switch it up and bring wingers on and confuse the opposition even more. It's a shame we ain't there yet...that type of slick interchanging of tactics and positions takes years to master. Edited November 1, 2024 by Simplymo
Gordon Bennett Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Wonder if Van Nistelrooy will black up for the pre match presser?
Raskolnikov Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I am a bit scared of this, I can't lie. They have a lot of experienced players who will now do their best to improve Amorim. The atmosphere will also be electric at Old Trafford. I also don't think our players have the personality not to crumble under pressure. Not optimistic at all.

POCH OUT Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 United fielded virtually their full team on Wednesday against Leicesters 2nd team, was anyone surprised they won? whereas we fielded our reserves against Newcastles first team...Marascas got NO excuse not to get at least a draw
POCH OUT Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 INCOMING Rob Jones is the ref, 4 red cards in 6 matches this season, 5 last season Marasca needs to remind the team that this ref is card happy

Sexyfootball Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Amorim appointment now confirmed, but he is not starting until 11th November, so his first game will be 24th against Ipswich.

Smart man to have that as his first game in charge. Almost a guaranteed 3 points to start his era off. Sexyfootball 1

Would be rather ironic though is United beat us and then draw Amorims first game in an expected easy win.

PloKoon13 Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Gives him two weeks to get his feet wet during (I assume) an international break. Plus it means his home sign off at Sporting is Champions' League game against Man City. What fun. Best of luck to him trying to figure out who on earth to play at left wing-back with Luke Shaw perennially injured.
19seventyone Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 They haven’t won a European game in over a year. They are 14th in the league…… on merit. Their great success was beating a second string Leicester side and they still conceded twice. Nothing to fear. For all the crap we’ve heard from the media about Chelsea since the takeover, Man Utd have been far more broken than we ever were and still are. We haven’t won there since 2013 I heard today. Is that right? I remember the days even pre Roman when we were one of the few teams who ever won there. Cue a 3-0 defeat axman2526, dkw and PloKoon13 2 1
Jezq8 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 On paper we should win this, but with ten hag gone they will be dangerous. team I would go with sanchez james fofana colwill cucurella caicedo lavia noni palmer Neto jackson but I reckon maresca will play the same team as against last premier league game with james lb and gusto rb Sexyfootball 1
frendz Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I am not sure about noni starting. Utd will surely give us enough chances for counter attacks. Noni is always slowing down our counters. It feels like his brain is freezing. just 1
SFL82 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 This could set up a big game for tomorrow in the top 4 race. It’s going to be physiological, we are far batter just now that Utd but they always get a result against us and have the new manager bounce, we need to overcome both those things mentally because team for team they are no where near us just now.
