I think Lacroix is a decent enough player and at 26 he is more of a grown up and we need that - especially at the back. BUT they are now asking/wanting £70m!!!???! £70 million and well, why not just walk away from that. For context Guéhi went to Citeh for a reported fee of £20 million. I mean obviously time left on contract, etc. AND it is not my money so I try not to be too bothered . . .but when you buy a top quality player, he must be a top level player. Perfect would be a nice option at that price.

. . .and Stones on a free would be a more sensible option and we keep looking for the perfect CB as we wait for Josh to grow up.

Let's stick with Disasi, Fofana and Badiashile.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are not going for him anyway, they already have so much dead wood to shift in that area.

Id rather get Stones on a free, Im sure he can manage 1 game a week, hes only 32. Have Chalobah and Fofana as backups. Get rid of Badiashille and Disasi. If were going to upgrade get Branthwait next year.

I thought he actually did ok last night, especially as he was playing alongside the utterly shambolic konte.

Im not sure we can rate any player on last nights game, was ridiculous.

Other than getting rinsed by Bellingham (who came on fresh), don’t recall seeing individual errors. The midfield and Konate didn’t feel like defending, and don’t get me started on Theo Hernandez.

I think £55m is the right amount.

Let's also forget, whilst criticising Lacroix for his performance in the wooden spoon match, that our marauding 7 stone (when dripping wet) useless French right back gave away the penalty that effectively won England the match and then tried to feign cramp in an attempt to excuse his woeful defending. WE rate this bloke at £75m!

And Trev blocking Dembeles shot a minute before he actually shoots. Morgan Rogers is a great start but our defense is in desperate need of a overhaul.

While we haven't managed to keep the shroud of secrecy over our actual interest in him, like we managed to with Palestra and Rogers, though our long term interest in the latter was reported as far back as when he scored for Boro against us in the league cup, it seems us and Palace are getting close to an agreement:

The above seems to be somone who gets more right than wrong regarding Chelsea matters.

On raw talent, Laporte is the best defender produced since Thiago Silva and should have been a nailed-on starter alongside Raphael Varane for France for a decade.

Only problem is he would fit perfectly with our troupe of sicknotes and perma-crocks. Multiple knee injuries and playing in the PL wrecked his body, and if he struggled getting through a full PL season in his prime I doubt we'd get much mileage out of him at 32.

I still don't really know how good Lacroix is, but I can't help but think bringing in Antonio Silva and John Stones would have been a much better deal. I feel like that would massively improve our defence.

The more time this takes and the more I think about it and look at him, I'm thinking we could do better.

Romero picking up steam as an alternative, with Neto going the other way. Can actually see this happening as both players want 1st team football, which isn’t happening on their respective teams with incomings. Romero is a brilliant defender albeit a nut case, and a better CB than Lacroix.

I don't know how anyone can watch the World Cup, particularly the Final, and come to the conclusion that you need to sign more Argentinians, especially when we already have a massive discipline problem.

That there is key. Neto still has 5yrs left on his contract, I’d rather just dumps his fat wages on Spurs.

As for Romero; whatever you might think of the Argies/Spurs, he is a better CB than Lacroix. Palace have also shifted the fee from £50m to £65m. Spurs want £50m for Romero, sell Neto for £60m.

I mean seriously guys, can we just lean into being hated. Let's sign more Argies not less.
