I have a feeling Jovetic and Ben Arfa rumors may have been leaked by us to put a pressure on Porto in Hulk's deal.

Either way, both are young talents and most likely can be had for less money.

Anybody with a brain. Unfortunately, I have a better shot at marrying into the Monégasque royal family.

Chelsea could turn to Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic as talks drag on to sign Hulk from Porto.

Italy’s top sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claims an official bid of £20million is expected to be lodged for the Montenegro striker on Thursday.

That is about half the amount which Porto are demanding for their Brazil striker, who is keen to move to Stamford Bridge.

Jovetic has other admirers in England and Italy, but Chelsea have most closely monitored his progress and availability over the last 12 months.

A move had been considered for the January window, but the 22-year-old appeared to answer the question about his future by signing a new contract through till 2016.

However, Fiorentina fans have been concerned that he has not been willing to repeat his commitment to the club in recent weeks, following the club’s slump to 15th in Serie A.

Three years ago, Jovetic impressed as Fiorentina beat Liverpool twice in the Champions League, but the club have since gone two years without European football.

Gazzetta claims that the player’s agent Fali Ramadani will communicate Chelsea’s intentions to new Fiorentina sporting general Daniele Prade.

Prade said this week: ‘We want to build a new team around Jovetic, but we want people who are highly motivated to wear the shirt. The boy must tell us his intentions.

New boss Vincenzo Montella added: ‘I want to talk to him - and then look him in the eyes, to see if the facts match the words.’

Despite Fiorentina’s poor season, Jovetic scored 14 goals in 27 Serie A games.

It's a right sided winger we are after is it not? Can this lad play that position like Hulk aswel as up top?

I definitely wouldn't be disappointed if we got him, the man is a great talent, I was worried that he could be finished after that big injury he got but he seems to have recovered brilliantly.

Wow. That's as beautiful as beautiful gets.

Anyway, my dad told me that he heard on Sky Sports News this morning that RDM's first task was granting free transfers to Malouda and Essien. Said he wasn't paying great attention so didn't get who was claiming that.

Can't say I'd be disappointed if it was to happen. Pity Essien couldn't go out on a bit more of a high if he is let go but I guess his fitness, form and competition in our squad means that isn't likely to happen now anyway.

Malouda on a free yes but Essen no. We could still get some money for him

Strange, I'd have said the other way around. Malouda is still capable but I really think that Essien's injuries have finished him off as a top level player. It's hard to imagine him passing a stringent medical if someone was going to pay a transfer fee.

It's not a rumour, but there's a player I think Chelsea should keep an eye on (maybe they already are). It's Oscar Hiljemark in the swedish team Elfsborg. 19 years old and a huge talent. Have already played for the national team (and he scored). He's a midfielder who can play like Mikel or Lampard. Can tackle well, have a good shot and can pass really well.

Interesting that we are now linked - a little more strongly - with Jovetic. For one, I think it shows to Porto, and other clubs that have held onto the "One transfer fee fo Chelsea, another for anyone else," that we won't be dicked about anymore. This is surely a good thing, especially with FFP and us wanting to be sustainable in the future.

On the other hand, I think there is a certain gravity that being CL champions brings to the fore, in that players want to come and play for us for the prestige, not just the pay check. Now, believe me, I'm not for a minute suggesting that money doesn't talk to players making their decisions, but I think it's certainly an arrow we can add to our negotiation's quiver when dealing with players, clubs and their agents.

Hulk, Jovetic, whomever. Just buy for the good of the team, and don't get our pants pulled down over the price.

^^ I think the main things top players are looking for aside money is whether or not we as a club can offer them the very highest honours. We've always been up there but now we can sell players the idea that they can be European champions playing for us.

As a club we're officially in with the big boys, and I think if we have a player win the balon do'r whilst playing for us, it would also tick another box for the more ambitious signings like the hazards and neymars of this world.
