March 31, 201511 yr f**k spending that sort of money on barkley when we can bring through youth for free. I don't think barkley is anything special tbh.
March 31, 201511 yr Crazy money. More than Sanchez lol. English market is dire. More money than: Sanchez Fabregas Hazard Silva Mata Nasri Coutinho Eriksen The premium price put on English players is just pathetic really and it's only going to get worse if Gregg Dyke gets his way with the homegrown quota rule change.
March 31, 201511 yr More money than: Sanchez Fabregas Hazard Silva Mata Nasri Coutinho Eriksen The premium price put on English players is just pathetic really and it's only going to get worse if Gregg Dyke gets his way with the homegrown quota rule change. You wonder what kind of money Spurs will be asking for IF Kane keeps up his form into next season.
March 31, 201511 yr You wonder what kind of money Spurs will be asking for IF Kane keeps up his form into next season. Probably somewhere around £35m maybe more... Basically what Andy Carroll went for. You don't have to have any suggestion that you are anymore than a flash in the pan to attract a big price tag if you're English. Says it all when Darren Bent cost Spurs more money than what Henry was sold for the same transfer window to Barca.
March 31, 201511 yr f**k spending that sort of money on barkley when we can bring through youth for free. I don't think barkley is anything special tbh. He's gone backwards this season, i wouldn't want us spending £20 million on him right now so i can't see us giving Everton £50 million.
March 31, 201511 yr Speaking of Barkely, he doesn't think his best position is in midfield. "I'm a striker" "I can have my greatest impact there. I'm free to roam around, take players on, have shots and create chances." So yeah... Walcott Mark II
March 31, 201511 yr He's gone backwards this season, i wouldn't want us spending £20 million on him right now so i can't see us giving Everton £50 million. I remember when Rodwell broke onto the scene with Everton and United were linked with £20-30 million bids! Look at him now. It's a gamble mind you, Rooney worked out a treat.
March 31, 201511 yr He's gone backwards this season, i wouldn't want us spending £20 million on him right now so i can't see us giving Everton £50 million. He has, and typical second season syndrome that happens with a lot of players. last season sterling looked unstopptable, but this seasons he's been from from looking like that, and i really thought barkley would be something special, but like a lot of english youngsters, he doesn't seem to have the motivation to be the best he can be. this is why the hype surrounding kane at the moment is very premature because he needs to keep it up next season too. lewis baker plays similar position to barkely, doesn't he? surely he would be a better punt than paying 50 million for barkley. really irritates me when we're being linked with mediocre english talent that has "potential" (english media's favourite word for our youngsters), when we have f**king great quality in the youth set up probably better than any in the EPL, yet aren't given a chance to prove themselves. The media fawn over ings, sterling, barkley, kane, etc, i want us to start bringing through those young english players so the media can finally start fawning over our youngsters and prove there is great quality in our academy. the only english player from the EPL i would seriously consider for the summer is walcott, i think he's a brilliant player when he's 100% fit.
March 31, 201511 yr I remember when Rodwell broke onto the scene with Everton and United were linked with £20-30 million bids! Look at him now. It's a gamble mind you, Rooney worked out a treat. Rooney showed his ability at the age of 16 or 17, and he just went up and up. that kind of quality needs to be shown consistently season after season. i don't think many english players have a high level of self motivation because they get so much money thrown at them from a young age that there's no more motivation for them to be the best. if you was a 17/18/19 year old earning 40-50k a week, would you want to be the best player when you're doing what you love and earning great money for it? i'm looking at this from a pov of a young english player. here there are too many distractions, from the media to nightlife, to women, drugs etc, etc whereas in spain, germany there doesn't seem to be those distractions for their young players, or at least there is but on a much smaller scale. however, i may be wrong of course.

Too many young players seem to focus on the trappings of success and think they've 'made it' when they've achieved next to nothing. I suppose it's hard to tweet about hard work or instagram blood, sweat and tears but those are the ingredients to success.
April 1, 201511 yr It says it all when someone like Steven Fletcher who hardly kicks a ball now is driving about in a 260 grand supercar. Then you have a 19 year old Sterling demanding over 150k a week from Liverpool.
April 2, 201511 yr The Scouse can't even get April Fools Day right. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours-reds-8967640

April 9, 201511 yr "Chelsea are considering entering the race to sign Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne this summer." - The Guardian Hmmmm
April 9, 201511 yr If Clyne is good enough for RB, then Bertrand is good enough for LB, in the squads at least. Schneiderlin is another good player who I wouldn't be against seeing in the squad. Good central midfield cover. Edited April 9, 201511 yr by Zola
April 9, 201511 yr http://metro.co.uk/2015/04/09/andriy-yarmolenko-ready-to-make-chelsea-transfer-over-liverpool-5141081/ I like this.
April 9, 201511 yr I love how tenuous the Hummels link is; to be honest I would much prefer we go for Varane if we are genuinely targeting a high-profile centre back. And apparently Valencia's Andre Gomes isn't interested in joining us after being linked with us by... nobody: "I'm not worried about what the future holds. I am convinced that I will stay in Valencia because I am very happy here. "I just think about spending the next season in Spain. Chelsea? I do not know anything and also my agent is not aware of any opportunity." Slow news day!
April 9, 201511 yr Comfortably the best rumour of the week: Sean St Ledger is allegedly dating Taylor Swift!

I'd have to agree it's a tenuous link at best, but for me Hummels would seem to be a ready made replacement for JT... would have no complaints if our first choice CB pairing is Zouma/Hummels in the coming years.
April 10, 201511 yr ^^And Cahill? I'd rotate him with Zouma... (don't get me wrong Cahill is a good CB but for me isn't on the same level as Hummels/Godin/Pique/Ramos/JT/etc). I do rate Varane, but he's only 21 and is yet to demonstrate the leadership qualities we'll need when JT hangs up his boots, in that respect Hummels would seem to fit the bill perfectly. April 10, 201511 yr Atlético PR & Nathan reached an agreement over his situation as he tried to leave the club, while the club alleged his contract wasn't over. Globo Esporte says Atlético PR now accepted an offer from Chelsea for Nathan & that the player will go to England next week for the medical.
