Random Rumours

Or they just have a lot of TV money, like every other club

I imagine the TV money will also need to cover a portion of wages.

Given they have already spent over £90m and have a £80m+ wage bill, they are spending more than just their TV money.

Whilst they do have rich owners (as with most BPL teams) and have probably got the capacity to make a loss this year, the way they are spending suggests some players are leaving.

It'd be funny if after all that spending we said no deal at 90m and want 50-60m instead. Honestly though Lukaku is worth at least 35m max 45m given how very little he has proven on the international/continental stage

Rumours of Aina to Hull are gathering around the net...I suspect with Roman's mate now in charge, Chelsea must be an approachable and rich source of loanees for him...

If Christensen is sold as well, then there is surely nothing a young player can do on loan that will earn him a chance.

Fully agree especially as one talented and now experienced as Christensen...can't see him going anywhere soon though...

Off topic yet again!

Sky are reporting that Rudiger yawned at the comments of a Chelsea fan forum member...is that better? By the way I think that's your mum calling you for tea...

This isn't the Rudiger thread. Try again

Apparently we're in for Danilo from Real Madrid.

It's a sh*t source so take it with the punch of salt it deserves.

Wasn't he just as highly regarded as Sandro when they both were with Porto?  Fell off a bit at Real

He was the one tipped to be WC, Sandro was deemed too defensive.

In other news, rumour has it that Christensen is up for sale:

Ofc this is from calciomercato so take it with a pinch of salt

Some rumours flying about both Chalobah and Christensen will be sold, will be beyond pissed off if true.

Would be beyond awful. And not just from a youth angle.

Our squad would then be

GK: Tibo, Willy, Eduardo

CB: GC, Azpi, Luiz, Rudiger, Zouma, ?

RWB: Moses, ?

LWB: Alonso, ?

CM: Kante, Cesc, Baka, ? , ?

Wingers: Hazard, Pedro, Willian, ?

ST: Lukaku, Michy, ?

We will have just 3 HG players with 7 spots to fill. Dont see a WC/upgrade position to WB. Dont think we can get a better HG squad option than NAT.

Solanke/Tammy, NAT, Ake (for CM/CB) could all have added depth and given a squad a better look.

These are doing the rounds...Remy to Rennes loan then permanent deal...Zouma to Palace season long loan...Chalobah to Watford permanent deal...also Todd Kane to Groningen on season long loan...and Izzy Brown interesting Southampton...

I think zouma to palace is what he needs, providing he gets game time which insure he will, hasn't been the same since his ACL needs to play himself back to form and selling chalobah to a prem club with a buyback clause is better for him than bench warming If the clause is well constructed it's not all that different than a loan in fact it's better, a loan if they flop you still get them back, this you watch a player develop with no obligation and can have him at a cut-rate if he turns out to be first team material. It's honestly a good way of doing things for player and club.

I agree competely.

Come to think of it, selling players with a buyback seems much better than endless loans, wonder why we haven't done that more often

It might be easier said than done maybe clubs don't want to invest in a player develop him then have him whipped away, but newly promoted teams and teams with less to spend are desperate for players, maybe now less so since the bottom of the table are getting almost 100 million, but I'm sure you can find a suitor for a good player, that's probably why we are selling them cheaper, make it hard to say no to the buy back, have him for 20 no strings or 10 with a buy back, managers won't say no to a bargain they live for today, they likely may not even  be around when the buy back is triggered.

It can be risky because you are surrendering control.

Nothing can be done if they player chooses not to return. If the player does great and we wish to activate the buyback clause, the player can easily adopt the stance of "you had your chance" and/or "im going to x or y instead"

We've been previously linked with both but not for a while but both Oxlade Chamberlain and Barkley are into the last 12 months of their contracts.

I feel like we need to take advantage of one of these to add a prem proven HG player worthy of a squad place on merit, my preference would be Barkley who I think with the proper coaching has a far higher ceiling.

Don't think Morata had any choice or Deulofeu...but maybe it's different in Spain?
