Don’t know enough about him to have an opinion. Interesting because most of the recent rumours seem to be players we have been linked to under the previous regime. Hopefully this is the fresh out look in the transfer window we desperately need. The guys from BM Gladbach by the way.
December 27, 20223 yr Let’s buy a right back - no idea who but we need one that can put a ball in and is willing to compete for places.

December 28, 20223 yr Apparently our two "big money" priorities for January are Enzo and Rafa Leao, but both are said to be highly unlikely for different reasons. On these two neither club is willing to sell unless their releases clauses, Enzo at 120mill euros and Leao at 150mill euros, are met. We have made the offer of 120mill euros for Enzo, a few different sources reporting this as fact, we have however not offered for Leao the 150mill as we are said to hope his desire to join us as his priority and him having 18 months left on his deal would see Milan accept less, supposedly we are willing to wait till the summer expecting Milan to soften their stance as long as no one tries to sign him ahead of us, which seems very unlikely. Enzo is the opposite situation as he has several years left on his Benfica deal and he is aware of Real Madrid, Man City and Liverpool holding an interest in him. It has been said he is happy to stay at Benfica and assess his options in the summer, where Benfica would also be more receptive to offers. Chelsea are using a man Todd has gotten to know well, Jorge Mendes, to try and convince Enzos camp to join us in January but the deal has a Raphinha feel to it in that he is said to not see Chelsea as the move he desperately wants, nor a step up from Benfica, and is willing to wait for a more dream move. What I have gathered from a few searches on the matter.

Ready to pay the release clause now in January according to their sources too. Could very well be something in this. Would obviously be a massive coup. If we somehow land Fernandez in January and Rice/Caicedo in the summer we will have fixed or midfield more or less.

We still need to pair Enzo with a DM though; sure he can play as the DM but I reckon he is most effective with a water carrier next to him. Florentino Luis does that for him at Benfica, Rice can be that for him.

I think our new recruitment team have a list of options, all of which look pretty good. Martín Zubimendi Kouadio Koné Moisés Caicedo Either one partnering Enzo in the pivot and we are talking a serious upgrade on what we have.

I feel a box to box player is the perfect partner for him (if Kante can somehow get back to good health he'd be perfect atleast in the short term). What I like about him in the DM/DLP position is he has outstanding awareness of what to do in specific moments. He knows when to dribble it out, when to play the risky passes, when to play the "boring 5 yard passes" and when to drop in between the two centre half's in the build up.
December 28, 20223 yr Appears he and his agent may want a move. Quote Fabrizio Romano: "Enzo Fernandez will only leave if a club will trigger the 120m euros release clause. His agent is coming to Europe to discuss with clubs. The Premier League is the most likely destination." No mention of Chelsea though, yet. — Simon Phillips (@siphillipssport) December 28, 2022

There is a reason that we are not mentioned, he is said to favour Man City and follow in Agueros footsteps, of course no one would be surprised by that, however apparently Newcastle, Liverpool, man united and Arsenal are all preferred as well. However Liverpool have conceeded they Cann sign both him and Jude and are pushing for Jude. Edited December 28, 20223 yr by axman2526
