A bit left field but I'd also be very content with Matty Cash as James' alternative if we could negotiate a reasonable fee with Villa.

It doesn't really matter how the fee paid, only how it is accounted. Transfer fees can be accounted across the length of a contract, Across several contracts actually if the player renews, but buyout clauses end up being treated as wages to the player and wages cannot be amortised. They have to be fully accounted in the season during which they are paid.

• He is quality. I would take him. Makes stunning saves and has good command of his box and is brilliant technically too. Wouldn't require huge amount of wages also.

Yes! Liked him a lot since last year. Brentford would have been better placed in the table had he not gotten injured last season

Great. I hope this turns out the same way as when Hazard picked us over Utd and they got Kagawa instead and claimed he was better.

Potter and his team did a fantastic job for Brighton. Cucurella, Trossard, Bissouma, Ben White, Caicedo, Mac Allister all gone to or wanted by top teams.

At least hes PL proven. With all the hype and cost of Mudryk we really don't know how he will turn up in the PL or adjust to it.

Certainly would be Chelsea tax on it. His deal expires in the summer though, so I guess it depends of Brighton have the option to extend it or not.

Would touch him. Even though at 25 he is still relatively young for a goalie, I don’t think he will develop to be an exceptional one. Bazunu is the goalie I am intrigued about in the PL. Outside the PL, Genk have an amazing young goalie in Vandevoordt, and Diogo Costa is an interesting option though he had a sh*t World Cup. Both players have very good underlying metrics for a goalie.

Time will tell. Reminds me of when Liverpool signed 7-8 Southampton players a while back, only Van Dijk & Mane turned out to be top notch of that batch.

Time will tell. Reminds me of when Liverpool signed 7-8 Southampton players a while back, only Van Dijk & Mane turned out to be top notch of that batch.

Sadly enough Vandevoordt already signed a contract with Leipzig last season, but they agreed to keep him 2 more years at Genk. 

However there are conversations going to call him already in this Summer.

Aside from Mount, they can all go for me.

Though, I can't imagine we'll be getting fair market value sadly. Buying teams will know how desperate we are to sell.

I saw a graphic regarding the PL spending versus all other top European league. Seven times the amount spent by the PL.

Plus, the transfer fee is only part of the story. Our wages will outstrip most other clubs.

All depends on two things for me. How aggressive our ownership/board are in the selling of these players and how content these players are in wanting to leave to better their career. We saw with Werner that he was willing to take a wage cut just to have a better and more comfortable career.

This is the point. The last sentence you have put. If the sale of the club resulted in Roman wiping out the club debt then surely all of the purchesed players became assets with the annual salaries being the only liabilities that we hold. Therefore presumably, even if we sold at fire sale prices these sales should still go down as pure profit in TB's books wouldn't they. Regardless of what the club paid for Malang Sarr for example, wasn't that written out of the books as part of the sale and therefore if we only sell him for £2m, isn't that pure profit now.

So my point being at a larger scale, if we sold Lukaku for £60m the press would howl derisively at the club for losing 30 odd million in a year or two on the player but as far as Todd's Chelsea is concerned, hasn't he just made £60m pure profit?
