August 29, 20223 yr Callum Hudson-Odoi, 21, is to have a medical at Bayer Leverkusen. Ajax looking for a replacement for Antony are interested in Hakim Ziyech. Spezia are set to sign Ethan Ampadu on loan. Ross Barkley is going to be bundled into a white van and left at an undisclosed service station.
August 29, 20223 yr Tiemoue Bakayoko is reportedly being lined up for a transfer by both Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United. We paid £40million for him in 2017 . . . that was a lot of money in those days. Actually, £40million is still a lot of money. Edited August 29, 20223 yr by TheCeleryKing

Also, are they mad?

One game proves nothing either way but, I watched Chukwumeka at Kingsmeadow on Friday night. If I hadn't known, I would not have guessed that he was the most expensive Chelsea player on the pitch. A very run of the mill outing from the lad. City's RB Larios on the other hand is an exceptional talent who we will hear much more about in coming years. Watched it too...wasn't that impressed either, can't see him getting anywhere near the first team this season.

A pair of young lads sitting near me, who watched CC in the U19 tournament last season, said they didn't feel we saw a fair representation of what he can do. That was my first in the flesh viewing of him and though I have sometimes felt ready to write off the Chelsea chances of some players on first viewing, Gael Kakuta and Islam Feruz for example, I'm not there with Carney. I'll be at Sutton to watch him in the EFL trophy tomorrow night so let's hope he shows more then. Edited August 30, 20223 yr by OhForAGreavsie

Similar to what we did with KDB (Didn't work out for him here but the quality was there to see) and Courtois. I don't mind this approach to the transfer market. As well as the players that have come into the first team this season we have signed: -Slonina -Chukwumeka -Casadei -Hutchinson -Sturge And now potentially this Russian lad, they all seem to be players that look like they can step into the first team and hopefully save us a bit of money down the line. No! We have just pissed money down the drain that we could have used to improve the 1st team. Liverpool & City bought young players for around the prices we paid for Casadei & Chukwuemeka and have found ways of integrating them into their 1st team, we on the other hand have chucked them into our youth (development) team. Fabio Cavarlho, Sergio Gomez & Julian Alvarez have been averaging 19mins of game time in the league each for Liverpool & City respectively , you can guess which players are more likely to make it. They don’t need to step into the 1st team; if the club wanted it to work they create spaces in the PL 25 squad for them. I don’t get the thinking when you pluck a kid who had made 12 PL appearances last season, pay £20m, & then chuck him in your u21s. It’s certainly not the same as when we bought Salah, De Bruyne. Those ones were clearly intended to be integrated but were bought under the wrong manager. Mind you think this is the same situation.

Oh well they might as well not bother then because you've already decided that they're not going to make it here. Do you really think we would have signed these players and they would have been happy to accept there's no path to the first team? Just because Carney made 12 appearances for Villa last season, doesn't automatically mean he is ready to step up and play for us. We have spent around £35m on just Carney, Casadei on Slonina who will be put on development plans and implemented into the first team over the next couple of years, if all goes to plan then Slonina will be the long term replacement for Mendy. If that is the case and we signed him for only £10m, rather than £30-£40m then of course that is good business, and good future proofing. Even if only 2 or 3 of the younger players we have signed make it into the first team, and we sell the rest for a profit then there's not a bad thing, and not a bad business model to be honest. It's amazing how you seek so desperately to find the negativity in any situation. You continually make sure to tell us how crap the manager is, despite us achieving just about everything he could've done since he took over, and now you're writing off a load of kids because they've not been chucked into the first team straight away, when it's clear to see that all of those players have been brought in as future investments. Must be really dull being that negative all time.

Pool and City are already a machine gunning for the top. They have the luxury to add young players because they have others that can shoulder the younger ones' mistakes. This season we are bedding in Broja, Gallagher, Cucu, Kouli, Fofana and Sterling whilst phasing out those that want to leave. There are way too many moving parts for us right now to safely add in Slonina, Carney and Casadei. I think we'll see those 3 when the team formation is largely settled

August 30, 20223 yr How do you know there isn’t a plan? As I said I doubt anyone of these kids would’ve signed if it wasn’t clear to them what their path to the first team looks like. You may have not outright called the manager crap but all of your comments towards him seem to be a dig or criticism. Fair enough criticism when it’s warranted, but from what I can see you seem keen to have a pop at him at every opportunity.

September 1, 20223 yr Seen a report that Xavier Mbuyamba has signed a 3 year deal with FC Volendam back in Netherlands. So not the new Van Dijk then 🙂
September 1, 20223 yr if Alonso and Baka go as well, we've done a good job clearing deadwood this year
September 1, 20223 yr Were signing young CB Ronnie Edwards from Posh, then loaning him back for the rest of the season apparently.
