Mane is in such obvious decline too it would royally piss me off to see us even contemplate working with Bayern on a deal.

I think Onana is the club's preferred GK target and Martinez may be Pochettino's. Think it works well for us, particularly with Slonina developing to take over once Dibu steps down.

A Liverpool fan I know has the opinion that he's been in an Alexis Sanchez at United style decline pretty much since the 20/21 season despite his goal figures remaining healthy.

Funny thing is if we do make this signing and it predictably turns into a disaster that will be three years in a row we've f**ked ourselves by just looking at the top line and i bet it still won't stop people saying "sign X player because they score goals" this time next year 🤣

Well take your pick of the 3. Sterling, Mane, Lukaku and Neymar. All past it, all on bloated wages, all create trouble for the club.

Unfortunately we already own two of them...

Anyone know anything about Gents Gift Orban?  Our scouts have apparently been looking at him.  Currently has a better goal to game ratio than Haaland!

Has the same agency as DD Fofana

I really do not know the truth of the matter, but I have heard the rumours of Sterling being a disruptive force at Chelsea.  Might be some truth in it?  Will be interesting to see if we keep him for next season.

Keylor Navas now being mentioned as an option.

Going for a peaked/declining but still quality GK would be the first bit of proper planning from our club under this new regime, as it would allow Slonina to step in when ready ala Courtois/Cech.

It's why Onana for me doesn't make a lot of sense.

Would prefer Martinez at age 30 to Navas age 36. The "maths" still works for Slonina taking over down the line (assuming he makes the grade, which is not a given .. )

Think Martinez's character is more what we need as well.

I also would like Martinez and if he is attainable, we should be in for him. He's better than all 3 of our keepers and I think he brings something we haven't had since Courtois, command of his area. Mendy and Kepa aren't good enough coming off their line and grabbing the ball, and we have conceded a lot of goals from those kinds of situations this season. I'm sure I remember a stat under Potter that said we had the worst record for goals conceded from set pieces this season. It was a few months ago now, so it may have changed, but it's a definite weakness of ours.

I really, really like the look of Joao Palhinha at Fulham. Tall, energetic, regularly produces inch perfect tackles in midfield and has a monstrous shot on him too. He is a clone of Nemanja Matic at his peak.

Only downside is he's somewhat of a late bloomer at 27, which means he would be a risk from an FFP perspective. He isn't going to be cheap either, with both Liverpool and Man U interested.

Not linked but Redondo’s son Federico Redondo looks like a star in the making.

He is one of those you buy now because in 2-3yrs time after a move to Europe he will be an €80m player.

The gossip and the rumours for the day . . .

1) Chelsea have plans to sell Ian Maatsen and have received a firm offer from Burnley.

2) Cesare Casadei has been performing well at the U20 World Cup and the new coaching staff want to take a closer look – before sending him out on loan again

3) Lewis Hall might go on loan to Crystal Palace. Top player.

4) Manuel Ugarte. The club are confident that the verbal agreement will result in a transfer. A new DM might be just the player we need.

5) Joao Felix has returned to Madrid.  Mauricio Pochettino does not want Joao Felix at Chelsea next season, according to Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo.

Selling players and reducing the squad size to follow.

Asensio to Villa on a free.

What a coup.

Definitely. I think Rabiot is free this summer as well and i think he could do well for someone as well.

No thanks. Rabiot is a cancer and even at his very best would be a circus in the dressing room waiting to happen.

Probably one of my favourite players to watch over the last 6-7 years, and despite his reputation somewhat flagging the last two years have actually been his best from a goals/assists perspective. Totally different situation to Coutinho, for example.
