An 18 year old winger, just what we needed. 🤔

No ink though is a plus.

Discipline problems though .... (I'm assuming he got booked for removing his shirt to celebrate the goal LOL)

BTW we still need an upgrade in goal. Nobody mentions it anymore.

As long as Ben Roberts is at the club Sanchez will be our number one.

Alonso is more pragmatic as a manager than Maresca - for the first few months - and Rosenior, which is when Sanchez was an issue. I expect Sanchez will more than capable to take us to the top 4. Whilst Penders might be good enough to supplant him.

Sanchez in the last 12 months under Maresca, when he allowed him the freedom to decide whether to go short or long, was great.

Interesting signing if true. Don’t know much about it and feels like a BlueCo type of signing but for the media mentions of Alonso pushing for him.

If true think Neto or Gittens could leave, be it loan or sale. Bit of a gamble with Alejbrgovic and Quenda, and a still very raw Estevao - perhaps no more than the still unproven Gittens.

Not averse to any signing that stops Jamie Gittens entering the field of play. Just do wonder what this means for Jesse Derry who really could be the next big thing if we handle him correctly.

I don't worry about things I don't need to worry about for 12 months.

But realistically, in 12 months time we should be expecting to have CL football, there will be the need for 2 left wingers, Jesse will hopefully be the second.

Hang on, didn’t we just pay £117m for Rogers? Where is Kerim going to play or get minutes from?

It’s a dumb move by the club, fee is ridiculous. The kid has played less than 2000 mins of senior football. The player has also been badly advised by his agent. He needs to go to a club where he will see loads of pitch time.

Crazy money. It would have to be half that for me to get behind this one.

Then again that's what we paid for Gittens and Garnacheese so idk idk

Don’t worry this secret source guy is the same ‘in the know’ that said Jackson to Villa was a done deal.

I don't know if we can trust that source, someone sent it to me but I'm not sure.

Others have said it is far less, like Romano. Atalanta were said to be close to a 30mill euro deal before we got involved.

Unless Winstanley and Stewart negotiated this deal then 50mill sounds about right...

Dont care about fees, never will. He's played closer to 3000 mins of senior football when you count the national team, he scored at the world cup. He was one of the best players in the Austrian league last year.

This guy for me automatically becomes our 2nd best left sided attacker. And you think that won't get minutes? The guy is also 19 in September, he doesn't need to be playing every minute, I don't know where that thinking has come from but it's clear the issues that is having on players who do play senior football week in week out in their teens.

I look at him and I see a player who if we didn't sign him, he would go to a club for 35m and then in 2 years we would be lamenting why we didn't buy him then when his price is 100m+.

3,000 mins is 34 games; €40m-€50m, okay. Ha, he scored against Qatar. Have we signed up on the back of his World Cup performances? He was sold for €2m last season, and Leverkusen bought him back for €8m just 25 days ago. My thing is, if he was a player we were actively scouting, Strasbourg could have bought him for €10m at the point. To bid €40m-€50m 3 weeks later is nuts!

I am not turning my nose at the Austrian league, some very good players have come out of the league. Haaland, Szoboszlai, Karim Adeyemi and Patson Daka all played there, and had remarkable success. What the first 3 got right was they move to a “Tier 2” league, the Bundesliga and spent a couple of seasons, before moving to bigger clubs. Daka is an interesting one, literally tore the Austrian league to shreds. At 20, he scored 24 league goals and 6 assists in 31 games. At 21, he scored 27 league goals and 4 assists in 28 games. What he got wrong, was not moving to a Bundesliga, Portuguese, Ligue 1 or La Liga before signing for Leicester for big money. The step up was to high, and he flopped badly.

I am not buying the narrative he automatically becomes our 2nd best LW. Gitten (who I don’t rate) has played on a higher level. Quenda is also more experienced, can operate on the LW, and was signed for £42m. There is also the Pedro Neto situation if he isn’t sold. He comes at best as the 3rd-4th choice LW.

If we didn’t get involved, he would have been bought by Milan/Atalanta for €20m + bonuses for €30m. He would have gone there, played constantly and honed is game. In a year’s time he could have been bought for the €50m we are stupidly throwing around now, as a more refined player. The move has too many red flags, and there is no clear pathway to a first team role. It’s the Blue Co way, and we have seen this too many times.

From what I read this is a player that Alonso brought through from the youth team and promoted him into the sniors. He then went to Salzburg and tore it up, so I thought Leverkusen exercised a buy back and Alonso is trying to get him for us.

If the money is right I'm all for it as there is the context of Alonso seeing the lad first hand, not some data driven AI search.

  1. I imagine the Bayer transfer is a buy back, that isn't something Strasbourg could have bought him for 25 days ago.

  2. We don't even know if we are buying him, let alone the fee, let's not consider ourselves with if we are bidding 40-50m EUR.

  3. Transfers fail. Players do not just succeed just because someone makes a step by step transition up and up.

  4. Quenda is a right winger who can play on the left (with barely more experience and nothing at international level). Neto is a right winger who can stink it out on the left. Gittens has played at a higher level but is not better to my eye, he succeeds in a counter attacking team where he is in a league that has space because of his pace. He will never succeed for us.

  5. The idea we let him go to another team and buy him in a year if he's good enough for just 50m is insane. If he's as good as i think he could be for us this season, then he will be 90m in a year. And you'll get a tonne of people asking why we let him be sold to Arsenal for 90m when we could have grabbed him for 35m a year earlier.
