Kevin De Bruyne

Featured Replies

Ha, I don't have to write anything today, all has been said. ::clap2:: to Kevin, good job today, tried his best with the players next to him showing bad performances. (Our captain is just... *shudder*)

That touch + run + assist was a f**kin' beauty! :JC_doubleup:

im watching bayern vs werder hoping to see more of de bruyne

bayern are just too good, 30 minutes in and its 2-0

you got a link to a strem of the game against Bayern right now, I know they are getting spanked, but I'd like to see some of KDB play

Big fan of De Bruyne after seeing him in action several times, his range of passing is brilliant and has very good awareness. Seeing him develop along with the other young midfielders at the club provides a mouth watering prospect for the squad strength next season, provided the club gets everything in proper order once this calamitous season is done.

Different league, but he's put up some proper stats..

Looks like he needs to improve his passing accuracy based on this.

I know stats are misleading (see Mikel thread) but if a quarter of are unsuccessful then it's definitely something needs to improve... but playing for a good team in a top division is exactly the best way to do this.

Looking forward to seeing him in a Chelsea shirt.

Yes and no. It appears to me that he's an ambitious passer, meaning that he's willing to make a risky pass in order to create a chance. I think this is exactly what we need when teams just sit deep and have to be broken down. That and a striker who makes intelligent runs.

If you check out the video I posted above you'll see what I mean. His long passing is fantastic.

Long passing is something that we need urgently because right now we have to rely on our CBs to do that given both Ramires and Mikel are not up to the mark in that department. Also is he the kind of player to move the ball quickly?

I can only go by what I've seen, which is pretty much every video on the net that involves him, and I'd say he certainly moves the ball quickly. I see him as a player with great variety. His technique is superb and he's obviously worked hard on it, meaning that he can hit almost any kind of pass.

Doesn't he play out wide and up front sometimes as well? Sometimes in those positions your pass completion % can get quite brutal so it would explain why it's lower than the others.

He's certainly played in the wider positions, but I'm not sure about up front. But yeah, pass completion rates tend to decrease the further forward you go.

nah, he plays as a part of the midfield 3, i think once hes played a false 9 and once as a wide midfielder. for belguim he plays as a wide midfielder but not a winger

he tries a lot of hollywood passes, which can be attributed to werder chasing the score more often than not

I've watched a lot of Bundesliga highlights this year and from what I've seen De Bruyne could play the Hazard role on the left of a 3 pretty well. What I would love, though, is if he were to develop into a CM. He's got the energy, passing ability and vision to play in our 'double pivot', and would add that 'quarterback' option which we are currently lacking. Having said that, in CM he wouldn't be able to dribble as much, thus negating one of his fortes. Nevertheless, he clearly has a bright future and with his skillset would be a very valuable option to have in our squad.

I hope we give him a decent chance when he comes back. I read an article a few weeks ago where he said the Chelsea scouts had barely spoken to him for quite a while...

Lukaku said the same thing, but as his loan was getting closer to the end, he said that they started contacting him more and letting him know what he needed to work on.

I hope that KDB will start getting more love from our scouts soon

Just because the scouts haven't spoken to him doesn't mean they haven't been watching and reporting back to the club.

I'm sure when the season ends and they return to the club they will be full briefed about their loan spells.

Theres likely more expectation and effort put in for Lukaku to be successful in the first team. Based on his role, their is definitely more neccessity to the club for Lukaku to succeed than  KDB who has plenty of competition.

well lampard is the only player we have similar to de bruyne, and hes most likely leaving in the summer so i wouldnt say KDB has plenty of competition. we are dying for a player that has that sort of passing range

One goal against Macedonia in first half, overpowered Macedonias left back. Courtois, Hazard and De Bruyne have all been good, hoping Lukaku replaces Benteke in second half. Not that impressed by Fellaini lately, a bit too lazy.

I get a bad feeling that when KDB comes back and hes expected to fill in Lampard's spot, we're going to get a nasty surprise that he's clearly being played out of position.

Does he ever get played that deep at Bremen?
