I don't think he is trying harder as the above states, he was running himself into the ground chasing balls and making runs (wrong ones) before FSW came and he was always 'busy' but most of the time he was careless and taking the wrong options.

He was giving the same effort under Robbie when he was scroing against Newcastle, Arsenal , Shaktar ect but it's easy to say he is now trying harder because we don't like FSW and some see the 2 linked and for me that is not on.

I didn't get to watch the match, I was off enjoying a frigid (coming from Abu Dhabi most places could be considered frigid) holiday in Europe.

I did watch the highlights... Spectacular header by Nando! Definitely have to give him credit where it's due and by the looks of it, he had a great all around match. While I know that Villa aren't having the greatest of seasons, Nando can only do what he can against what's in front of him. And he's been doing it well as of late.

I still want to see him do more against the bigger teams, but I'm certainly happy he's on this streak and I'm certainly not complaining. Keep it up Torres!

Again, fantastic header. I watched that a few times and could watch it some more. He made a good call, a good run, had a good cross to attack, and a fantastic finish. Superb.

Took the Drogba header beautifully. Looking forward to his match-winning brace in the 2-1 defeat of Everton.

Hmmm that would be marvellous. Funny aswell cos the Toffees farking hate Torres for obvious reasons.

Something I forgot about: an article mentioned that Villa were playing three at the back, which makes it even more impressive that he had any impact at all. This isn't making me reconsider my opinion on Torres at all but I hope he continues to play like this until a replacement arrives.

Scored a good goal yes, got us on our way, but I thought he was very quiet indeed after the first 10 minutes or so. Barely noticed him for the rest of the game.

Well hopefully he keeps it up, today wont be an easy game so we'll need him to have a good game

This is the type of game i want to see Torres shine in. It's against a team in form and are pretty solid defensively, if he can at least play well and contribute to the team then i will be happy. I just don't want to see him trying to do to much then falling over, it's annoying.

That was a superb header from Torres, no getting away from that...I thought he looked a touch better with his movement after the goal but certainly did have a weak unit defending against him.

I don't know how telling it was that Torres scored very early and then the goals came from everywhere else including half of them coming in the last twenty minutes after he went off.

Time will tell.

thought he was ok today; didn't have many chances but his movement was better than it had been up until a few games ago. He also didn't lose it every time he touched it, which he was doing not long ago. Had some decent interplay with Mata/Hazard towards the end too.

It's been over 15 minutes since the game ended, we usually have a lot to say about Torres by now

Not much to say imo; didn't do anything special but wasn't sh*t - much, much better than he was against leeds for example.

Well to be honest he didn't have the chance to do anything, some some good play at times but he was marked out of the game for most of the time, Norwich were very defensively solid today.

Though he was sh*te today, but there again he didn't get a lot of service. He made a couple of runs but wasn't picked out, there again it's easy to sit in an armchair and see the players movement from above.  He never went looking for the ball either though.  3 touches in the first half says it all.

Going looking for the ball is what was wrong with his play, imo. Benitez has clearly told him to do it less often and concentrate on making the correct runs. He was making them and today it wasn't his fault that his runs didn't get picked out; Norwich were solid defensively and we (as a unit) weren't great going forward.

Then he just as play the role of Jesus and go wandering around in the wilderness.  Do you want him to just run across the back four for 90 minutes without touching the ball. I'll do that job for 175k a week..where do I sign.

You're such an idiot.

If theres one thing I realized about Torres this season, it's that what he needs to do more than anything else is hit the gym and put on some upper body muscle. Seeing him get knocked over 20 times a match is embarrassing and useless, it's unlikely hes ever going to get a yard of pace back due to his knee, so if the coaching staff were smart they'd adjust his regime and look at giving him some more weight, so he can contest more balls into the box, hold off defenders and compete for the ball better in the air AND on the ground.

Right now soon as the ball is played in front of him, he just gets barged off it instantly.

You're such an idiot.

Is that the best you can come up with.  I'll treat it with the contempt it deserves.

Perhaps you should look up the word before you use it.  With a name like 'timetowaste'  no doubt you can spend all day surfing the net.  Then when you do that send me a private message.

You're being harsh on Torres in this game, we were unable to break down their defence and get the ball to him at all which isn't really his fault, Torres has obviously been told to stay up front and not come deep to get the ball anymore (I'm basing this on what I've seen since Rafa has arrived) which can leave him isolated up top and when you're against a well organised defence like Norwich's is it's hard to get into the game. I stand by my statement of calling you an idiot, mainly because you seem think it's easy to be a lone striker against a well drilled defence that sticks to you like glue where in reality you haven't got a clue and are just using this match as an excuse to hate on Torres, much like the other Torres haters will do. At times he's been a passenger in this season but in my opinion there wasn't much he could have done today, it was just a very good defensive performance by Norwich.

Perhaps you should have watched the Liverpool game later in the day and watch two centre forwards / strikers working their bollocks off rather than run around with an Alice band in their hair and falling over every time they were touched. Suarez was up against two or three Stoke defenders all day and who have the best defensive record in the league; he was knocked down continually and always got up and chased the ball rather than sit on his arse and look around feeling sorry for himself.  Jones was battling against two Liverpool central defenders and winning balls in the air.  I don't think Torres has actually won a meaningful ball in the air against a central defender since he's been here .  I'm an no Liverpool supporter or fan of Suarez but I'll take his work rate over Torres all day long.   Perhaps you should go back through my posts.  I have supported Torres early on because it has been a difficult transition for him especially wearing a blue shirt instead of a red one.  He's been here long enough now but have got tired of his hot and cold attitude and if you think that the fat Spanish waiter, sorry 'interim manager' is going to put Torres's head back together and straighten his sorry attitude out your sadly mistaken.  He was broken when Roman brought him here and he's still broken today despite having the luxury of some of the best managers in the business to pander to him.

I will continue to support players wearing the blue shirt and I will criticize them when they don't put a shift in, Torres didn't put a shift in today. I don't hate him because I don't know him personally, and I don't know if your an idiot either, because I don't know you and I wouldn't insult you or a fellow CFC supporter.   So have some respect for someone who has fought for their country so you and others like you can have the freedom to speak without being thrown in jail.  And think about the terraces in the early 70's, there are people on here like me who have bled for this team before you were even born so I wouldn't go insulting them anytime soon either, when they are critical of Torres, especially when many of them would have ripped your head off and sh*t down your neck many years ago.   Take care and stay safe.
