I just don't understand how any professional footballer who trains nearly every day of the week can have such a poor touch. Jeez even i have better control than that and i only play football every so often.

I know he should've had two goals today, if his touch had been better

If you really believe that, i feel sorry for you, and if you don't, why post such a ridiculous statement  :face_palm:

Course I don't believe it, it's merely a reflection on how bad he was. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

It just gets on my nerves that whatever the result, however the players within the team play personally, wether he scores or not, Torres has to take a basting on here after EVERY game.

No one else has to suffer it, so why should he?

Sarcasm ain't it?

Back to Torres, I don't know how on earth he didn't score that earlier chance when he was caught offside. He hit it straight at the keeper instead. I can't say I'm much surprised though.

When he isn't playing every game it won't happen - unless people bump it up asking why he isn't playing(as was the case in a fare few matches last year)

To suggest dropping Torres now is absurd. It affects his ability, he needs to feel loved.

Yes, but the FSW has got him firing again. I read it in the papers.

If Fatso takes a single ounce of credit for today I will personally come to his house and rip out his 10 mile long guts from his stomach.

You have to be on a wind up. Surely?

Not at all; I'm not saying that he's world class, or even top 4 quality (a few pages ago I compared him unfavourably to most other strikers in the EPL), but his performance today was much better than his performances against Leeds, Monterrey, Corinthians and the 10 games before that with the exception of Nordsjaellund and Sunderland. He missed a few chances, one of which was offside anyway and another was a great tackle but his general play other than that was pretty good. A top drawer striker would have scored one of those chances (made a better run/beaten Distin, stayed onside for Hazard's flick or taken a good touch for the Luiz ball) but his general play was fairly good.

Any good work he did today Sam came out in the wide areas where he loves to drift. I've said before he spends so much time on the flanks I think he is a frustrated winger at heart. I wouldn't mind him being given a Moses type role to come on from the bench and give us some width. It's when he has to be the focal point of our attack centrally that he is a complete fail. As he was today. The simple fact he isn't good enough to be our starting no:9 and hopefully the arrival of Ba will see a change sooner rather than later.

I don't disagree that he isn't good enough to lead our line, I just think that his performance today, apart from the missed chances, was decent for a striker in the top half of the PL.

You're right that he got the ball on the flank fairly regularly, but he wasn't just drifting to the flank and hiding from the middle as he used to so it doesn't bother me. A few times he got it out wide when the ball was overcooked, and with Ramires and Hazard as the wide players (neither of whom keeps the width) he ended up recovering it. I'm just pleased that he actually used the ball well when he got it - he actually looked threatening to defenders with it at his feet and passed it instead of running straight into an opposition player with the ball at his feet, or misplaced a 3-4 yard pass as he was doing in the not so distant past.

Looking at his performance objectively, he pulled a decent save from timmy torrets with a good shot, should have dont better when played in by oscar, and looked fairly off the pace in general. He also had a great chance when put through by Mata but couldnt control the ball.

In my opinion a sharp and on form striker would have had goals at least today.

However, on the plus side, he is getting more chances now than he was 3 months back. He had 4 scorable chances today, in the past he would have one half chance per game....so every cloud!

Didn't think he was too bad today............

Had his chances and missed, but made a few good passes in and around the box.

Not his biggest fan, but I've seen far worse.

Yeah he wasnt too bad plus Distan played a blinder too.

His end product shooting wise was very poor though.

It's slowly clicking with Nando, you can see the pieces manoeuvring into position, little things he's doing or attempting.  Sure, he's not all the way there but let's say he's somewhere between 70 - 80% as it stands.  The difference with Torres is that the 20% between 80% & 100% is what elevates him above any other striker in the league.  Assuming he keeps fit, he'll be firing on all cylinders come the end of January and then it'll be poetry in motion again.  I, for one, cannot wait to see it happen.

Every single rival fan I know is delighted we have Torres playing up front for us.

When he's on form he's a delight to watch, one of those special players that transcends rivalry and transcends football, in short I want Nando to be back to his best and smashing them in.  It's not far off from happening, the last few weeks he looks similar to how he did when he was coming back from injury at Liverpool...it always took a month or so.

Funny you should call us 'rival fans' though, you wouldn't believe the number of lifelong/die hard Liverpool fans who are actively rooting for Chelsea to do well whilst showing complete apathy for the shambles at Anfield, and I put myself very firmly into that category.
