Thank you, Sir.  Always nice to be appreciated.

Yes, I am a Liverpool fan...just not one of those blinded, "everything is rosy, we're going to make the Champions League, we're better than you and Rodgers in the king" type nobheads that fill Anfield these days.

As for the insults, it's more facchhts than anything else.  What is possibly good to say about Liverpool right now?!  "The manager has improved us?" Nope, he's made us worse.  "The young players are promising?!" - Nope, Sterling, Shelvey, Henderson, Allen etc etc are all totally overrated and completely sh*te.  "We have great owners who will take us back to the stratosphere?!"  Nope, we have some clueless American mong who hasn't got a pot to piss it and watches his wife get f**ked in the Hope Street Hotel (you can quote me on that one).  So, all in all there isn't much good to say, so please forgive the negativity, who knows maybe things will change.

With a bit of luck I'll be sat here in June, we'll have Rafa back after he's done the quadruple with you lot, you can have Mourinho, Di Matteo or whoever takes your fancy, Brendan Rodgers can go back to coaching your Under 9's (but watch out, the c**t will probably try touch them) and we'll bid each other a fond farewell and go back to throwing every insult under the sun at each other at the next encounter.

I can only assume you're the one f**king her.

Watching a replay of the Everton match, and I have 2 Torres-related observations.

1) His first touch and positioning are abysmal.

2) Nando is quite the good-looking fellow.

You are aware that Torres didn't score the winner in the semi-finals, right? His goal was the icing on the cake, but we'd have gone through without it due to goal differential. Ramires is the one who scored the winning goal.

You are aware that at that stage we were drawing 2-2 & going through on away goals, Torres goal won us the tie 3-2 & that's a FACT

That doesn't change the fact that Ramires' goal won the tie.  As we're painfully aware, winning on away goals still counts as winning the tie.  Not to say that Torres' goal was not important or memorable as it killed Barca's last stand where they were throwing everything at us, but lets not rewrite history.

Doesn't change the fact his goal won the tie!

SP, much as I love you you have your facts all tangled up.

Had there been no more goals after Ramires scored guess what ..

We would have won the tie.

Maybe you've never heard of the away goals rule?

Put simply, in the event of the tie being tied after both games, the team with the most away goals is the winner.

An away goal is a goal you score away from home.

Home is where you play your home games.

Away is when you play the opposition at their place.

The opposition are the team you're playing against.

Sorry to jump in on this Davey but let me get this right...

I f I turn up at a Home game when we are playing Away, will I miss the game?

If I go to an Away Game and take my Tent, will it then be a Home Game?

If the Tie ends in a Tie, what Colour Tie would the Interim wear?

If the Game doesn't end in a Draw, can I still put the match program in the Drawer

Thanks in advance

Shedpensioner, in case you're not as old as your name suggests, be advised by me (aka wise old woman) that whenever someone starts a sentence with "Much as I love you..." you just KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is going to end it with something you do NOT want to hear.

Very good questions Chippy. Uefa's rules are quite clear on this.

If we're playing away and you turn up at home, Barcelona win.

If you take a tent to an away game, Barcelona win.

If the tie ends in a tie, Barcelona win.

If the game doesn't end in a draw, whoever wins wins, as long as it's Barcelona.

Hope that clears that up.

I don't think you understand the way that the away goals work in a Champions League tie. Torres' goal did not win us the tie, you're completely wrong.

I fully understand the away goals rule, I also understand that 2-2 is a draw with us going through on away goals but 3-2 is a win!

If you fully understood the away goals rule, then you'd also understand that the winning goal was Ramires'. I can't be arsed to continue this ridiculous discussion.

Basically, whoever we're playing are the opposition.

If we're playing at home they're the away side.

If they score first they take the lead.

If we score first we take the lead.

If it's 1-1 at half-time the second-half is all to play for.

The second-half comes after the first-half, usually.

The full-time whistle happens at full-time.

Unless you're Man Utd, in which case it happens just as soon as the manager wants it to.

Anything else just ask folks ..

Not really.

As you yourself say, we would have gone through on away goals anyway had the aggregate score remained at 2-2. In other words, the tie was already won. What Torres' goal did do was to eliminate the possibility that we might fall victim to an Iniesta style last minute goal.

His goal actually drew the game on the night.

Pensioner is drawing a distinction between winning the tie on away goals and winning the tie on aggregate, which is a superfluous distinction at best.  He technically has a point, but I don't see how its relevant at all because that isn't how the rules work.

Erm, no, you're wrong. Barcelona were winning 2-1 on the night, but it was 2-2 on aggregate cos we took a 1-0 lead into the second leg. Torres equalised, made it 2-2 on the night, and 3-2 to us on aggregate.

One of the most bizarre arguements I have seen on this board!

I think my new year's resolution will be to keep away from this thread. I swear it's bloody toxic.

Some people get joy from slating Torres, just the way it goes on here.
