Drogba was new to the league and had really only played one or two seasons at a high level. Torres has been in England for years now and has shown what he could do. There is a huge difference between the two.

Completely agree Barn. Chelsea are better than 'hoping' for Torres to turn up each game. We need a nailed on 30 goal a season player, and at the moment, we don't have one.

No we don't!

Can't recall too many players hitting 30 a season but whatever the number, we are far better off with the goals being distributed throughout the team as they are now, than relying heavily on a prolific striker.

For those thinking that Sturridge is going to be the answer, I'm sorry but its not going to happen, that ship is getting ready to sail! He wants out of the club and would be gone by now had it not been for some last minute drama in the transfer window.

We're now at the same stage with Torres, he's 21 months into his time with us now, some think he's worth persisting with, some think we should of got rid of ages ago, what he does in the future will prove which of us is right, but while he's a Chelsea player he will get my full support!

Torres is showing that he is a much better now, than he was this time last season, now that Sturridge is fit again and will be able to share the workload we will see even better performances, and more goals from our No1 striker.

Opposition quest.

One prolific striker only = no problem

Scorers all over the park = we have problems boss.

My point was that some were unconvinced by him after his first season and a half, nothing to do with where he had played before!

Sorry but I don't agree.

Look at the options the two Manchester clubs have up front compared to us.

We don't have enough strength in depth there to last us in all competitions, and to say it doesn't matter because we'll have others chipping in is quite frankly, short-sighted.

True, but the same could be said of the majority of the team.

Difference is that only Torres has a thread dedicated to him were his every single move is put under the microscope....

Exactly what I was going to put!

Probably a reason for that though, its not for nothing, its because there are still huge question marks over his performances for us and weather they are consistently good enough for us

I think Mclovin was just pointing out that the post above his was a stupid pointless post!

I'd say only 2/3 players didn't 'stink up the place' against Shakthar, so why dig 1 player out! lets move on, these things happen every now and then in football!

so why dig 1 player out!

because its a frequent ocurance for torres. bit more forgiveable if messi has a stinker then if titus bramble has one, i'll let you figure out why

i know youve called me a torres basher or whatever but you must be the biggest die hard around here!

Its a sad day when being a die hard fan is considered an insult....

Or when giving strong support to a player of the team you support becomes a reason to be ridiculed.....

Strange times....

you really cant differentiate between support and clouded judgement ? the lad wont let any criticism of torres go and bags any of it in the "you must hate chelsea fc" category

Another argument for why Torres should go really. He's become this huge talking point that is overshadowing the club itself, dividing supporters and pitting them against one another. It's not healthy for the fans or the club.

If you're going to go down that road then Terry should leave too.

There's only one reason why Torres should leave and that's because he's a very poor player.

Theres just critisism and then theres slagging him off at every chance you get. The first one makes you an objective fan, the latter a plastic c**t. Imho

im fine to admit i do both (sort of.. i dont personally slag him off)

i think objectively he is a very poor player and i also think he detrimental to our team which is why im so harsh on him... but that second point is also largely down to how hes been handled by the club, getting so much time to prove himself, being forced into the team when he is clearly not working etc.

like i said in another thread, if he cost £2 million quid and came from ipswich he'd either be in the reserves or sold off by now

end of the day i want whats best for the team. torres being shoehorned into the line up even though hes crap is not good for the team.

Do you really think he is that bad?

Maybe for his first year at the club it would have been hard to argue against that but since Di Matteo has been manager there have been good games as well as bad games. My main concern is that there is, and never has been, any consistency with Torres form- a couple of good games will be followed by a coupld of bad games, a goal scoring patch of form will be followed by a patch without any goals.

The way you talk about him however, you would think he has never had a good game- what did you think of his performances against Newcastle and Arsenal this season for example? There have been match winning goals as well as good performances so I don't really agree that he would be playing in the reserves if it wasn't for the price tag etc- he has 4 goals in 8 games, he could have more granted but I just don't think he is as bad as you are implying...

I have only seen a few people claiming to be Chelsea fans who think Terry should leave. The vast majority have stuck behind him. So that's not really comparable to Torres who divides opinion so much and to such extremes.

It's not as bad as it was last season or the 6 months before that, where every game had the heading of "Will Torres score? Will he miss a sitter? What can the media laugh about this week?", but it's still not healthy how much he;s focused on. It's Chelsea that should be the focus, not any one player.

And that's not even getting into the issue of whether he's good enough or not, It's been done to death so there's no point adding any more opinions to that.
