Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

This guy is the most overrated player in the PL.

We literally carry him everytime he plays......he hides on the pitch, has no influence and lacks any mobility, physicality or dynamism to warrant a start in our team. Why do we persist with such an average performer. With him Mikel and mtic inthe centre on Saturday we lacked intensity, legs and creativity. I sigh everytime I see him in our Starting XI.

As for him wanting to stay, of course he does!! There is no way any other club will pay the wages he is on at Chelsea (bar maybe china). Juve certainly wouldnt,

Sorry to rant, and he seems like a nice lad, but he really needs to be moved on.

Everything you say is right, when you play can you need to be able to pick out some killer passes, Oscar lacks creativity a forward needs and it can't all be relied on Fabregas all the time.

There's only so many runners you can have in your starting eleven.

He's still coasting off those two goals against Juventus in my opinion, they've bought him 4 years with us at this stage. I like his energy but too often he disappears from games and isn't one of those players that can produce something from nothing. If we could get a good 35-40 million for him I'd happily see him leave

I'd be ecstatic if we get anywhere near that amount for him. If anything he has gotten worse, Payet at West Ham has done more this season than Oscar has for us in 5.

Lol. We did get a 57mil bid for him. Player himself wasn't interested in seeing the Great wall of China.

I think if José move to United he can pay crazy money to sign Oscar and sell Mata for less.

Regardless of our feelings on him, Gus has on a couple of occasions came out and talked about how he admires Oscar and his energy.

I think we'll see him through the end of the season continuing to feature.  I'm not sure what the summer will hold, but I think the club may look for a more exciting number 10

I think Oscar will be part of Conte's plans next season as I believe he is very highly rated in Italy due to his performance against Conte's Juve at the bridge a few seasons back.

I agree with a few people on here that Oscar is a good squad player & should not be starting games until he can prove that he can maintain performance levels in the opportunities he does get.

Yeah but he won't. In big games he preferred Fabregas as no.10 than Oscar which suggest he didn't rate him that much.

I think Jose will know it was a mistake….well to place Oscar as his focal point not so much selling Mata.

As you say he started to play Cesc in that role because Oscar just wasn’t shining as his no 10. There is no way he’d spend big money to have that problem again.

Oscar was never a 10 or the focal point under Jose. He was a link-man with the creative focus being on Hazard and Fabregas. It's why he was favoured over Mata because he was able to track-back, defend and even man-mark.

The problem is that he's massively inconsistent, more often poor than good and very, very rarely excellent.

He's been given enough time, he's been given enough chances and whilst it's tempting to say 'give him another year' under Conte who apparently wanted to sign him, I'd rather just move on from a player who has had 4 seasons, almost 200 games and never surpassed the game he played against Juventus THREE AND A HALF YEARS AGO!

And we didn't even win that game (not his fault but still, it's funny).

Summed up perfectly - nothing to add, other than let's get whet can for him in the summer.

Long been one of those that defended Oscar, I think his first season and half with us was very good. Wouldn’t have called it excellent or world class, just good when taking all in to account, new league, age, playing for the FSW etc etc.

The last month a bit I have moved very much in to the happy to move him on club. He’s a good player, but he has not elevated his game to the level needed to play as a top number 10 or attacking mid. At his very best he can be unplayable; his very best happens about 3 times a season if you’re lucky.

Lately I’d argue that the effort hasn’t even been there. At this point in his career I’d be expecting him to dominate games, to take them by the scruff of the neck and win the single handily, the big big players have this in them. At our very pomp we had a number of attacking players who could do it, Drogba, Lamaprd, Robben, Cole, Duff. (please keep in mind Im’ not including some one like Essien or Maca because I’m trying to compare apples to apples)

On any given day at least one of these guys would step up if the rest of the team weren’t doing it and if they all clicked Brucey bonus. This season one of the biggest issues is that only Willian really stepped up, for the first half of the season he dragged us through it. In recent months Fabregas has really stepped up as has Costa, taken games by the scruff of the neck and won them for us, Hazard did it for large parts of last season, although this year I feel he is actually detrimental, thought he was awful on the weekend, but it’s Hazard and you know next season he could be back to being a monster because we have seen it already, consistently.

Oscar just doesn’t do it, I was so excited when I saw him at the olymics, he looked like a player that would grow in to a dominating force, and he didn’t. He’s not the most gifted dribbler (not bad but not great), he’s doesn’t spot a pass like the top top boys, he hasn’t got the pace and power of the best number 8’s. He lacks a top level goal instinct. I’m not saying he needs to do all those things well but he needs to be doing at least one or two of them at a top top level. Fabregas as an example, doesn’t go round player like A hazard or cole, he doesn’t possess great power or pace, not the best eye for goal, but he can see and execute a killer pass almost as well as anyone in the world, he won’t do it every game but over the course of the year and half he’s had with us you would have to say he has delivered much more often then not.

Despite my hopes, Oscar has turned out to be an average player, he does everything well but nothing extraordinary and unfortunately I think we need better, unless he picks it up expontially it’s time to cash in for me.

At this point I’d rather see Baker come in and have a shot there, or this kid that is out at Betis

Over rated at what? He does what he is suppose to do score goals create goals, create chances. He is worth £20M alone just for his set piece delivery.

I think his first touch is pretty average and under pressure with little space his decision making is questionable. Do I think he will improve and become a very good player, yes actually I do but no guarantees. I guess the biggest question is how he responds when things not going his way

Do I think he will improve and become a very good player, yes actually I do but no guarantees.

We've been saying that for the last 3 seasons.

But my question to you is, how many more seasons he needs to improve?

He was on about KDB not Oscar
