I don't think oscar is terrible, but he is far too inconsistent to be a really top footballer. If we can't get a creative number 10, we may aswell play 2 strikers or add some more steel in midfield.

We don't have a quality number 10 at the club, fabregas isn't mobile enough, and willian doesn't create or score enough from open play. But the system we play seems designed to get the best out of a number 10.

Why do so many see football as black and white. A player is either amazing or garbage. Either incredible technique or none at all. Oscar is a very good footballer with excellent technique at times but is also very inconsistent and frustrating. He is definitely good enough to play for us, but not when he s so up and down as he has been.

 

Also, Oscar hasn't had a consistent run of matches in the team. 

 

 

 

He's played about 170 games in 4 seasons for us. That's over 40 per season. How is that not getting a consistent run of matches?

Think Hazard is better suited on the wings tbh.

I dont think Hazard has enough speed to be there FOR US. For a lot of teams with pacey a striker and/or another pacey winger he'd be great but we have nobody to keep the defense honest and threaten behind defenses

Been harping this tune for a while. He is USELESS. Gets away with losing possession so much. Has a backheel in his locker that he tries every game. Always plays the game in front of him in safe areas where he cannot be dangerous. Never makes runs beyond the defence to cause confusion. The list could go on..

Frustrating thing is he is trying to do all the right things, picking out the right passes, making the right movements, taking on players, etc but it's just not working.

He has still been better than Oscar and Mata has been on the right wing ( don't think he should ever play out wide) where Oscar plays in his favourite position.

Thing is, how often does he ever play a good through ball for the striker, or hit a good shot from the edge of the box, or put in a good cross? All the things the #10 is supposed to be doing.

 

He runs around, puts in the occasional tackle, and recycles the ball. That's about it.

He is supposed to be our main attacking focal point but he doesn't do nearly enough to be considered a no 10/playmaker.

His engine is good and he has tons of enthusiasm but it's just not enough...his passing is poor, his vision even worse and IMO his technique has nose dived in the past 16 months.

It's not just him of course but we need a far better footballer to link midfield to attack than Oscar because he's bang average at what he is supposed to be doing.
