Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

I will always be interested in Oscar's reaction when he scored that free kick against Swansea in the very first game of the season. He jesticulated to the bench in an angry manner which I thought was very bizarre.

It was the beginning of the end really and that moment should be highlighted in more detail. Something definietly went on pre-season.

More like when the manager is not complicating his role.

He played in exactly the same position today as the past 2 years. So how was it complicated? He went back for the ball, he tracked back and defended etc.

That was an accidental goal, he put it in low for someone to attack and it went all the way in, probably didn't feel right to celebrate it.

Great Explanation there bro...Let's hope you are correct on that assessment, not that it matters anyway ;)

he always puts a shift in. I've never seen him not put the effort in to be fair.

however no-one can credibly say today's performance was about the players being freed tactically.

we played a jose team with jose's tactics. jose took training in preparation for this game and steve holland was never going to radically change things, having worked under jose the whole time. at most the only tactical difference might have been azpilicueta being allowed to get forward more than usual. but even that was probably more down to sunderland playing a 352 (i.e. only one player on each flank rather than two).

in the performance today I what I saw confirmed what I think- (which will be the case for people who feel jose was betrayed too) that jose had become an inhibiting agent for most of them. tactically nothing was wrong, but for people like oscar he could no longer get into their heads and elicit anything positive.

I've never seen Oscar not put max effort in personally, I've just seen him play well, and play badly. Today he was fantastic, albeit against a crap side.

Thanks for acknowledging this trurth. A lot of people here seem to be excited about the display today and are purely analyzing the match from a Chelsea perspective without considering who it is we wereplayning. We played the Macabi Tel Aviv of Premier League and we won. It would be nice if we could dampen our expectation until we can dominate stronger teams in a similar fashion.

Let's see whether he carries on playing as well as he did today, before making rash decisions.

We need to rebuild, guus had admitted as much. May well be oscar is sold to raise funds. Maybe Jose will want him at United.

Rash? After three-and-a-half years of flattering to deceive, think it's plenty of time to figure out he's not good enough...

He will be back to being mediocre next game, it's what Oscar does. A great performance then a few disappointing outings is how it goes.

He has no consistency in his football.
