Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

I don't even think he is a very good footballer i mean when the ball is at his feet he doesn't ooze natural talent and technical ability. Look at Bojan pass for Shaqiri goal today for Stoke, Oscar never does anything like that for us.

Have to say, I feel for RLC, in the few appearances he has got he has looked better then both fabregas and Oscar for most of the season yet while they get chance after chance he is ignored. I'm at the point where I'd happily play him in place of either of those two for the rest of the season no questions asked

Think he's finished as a Chelsea player. This was supposed to be his breakout season but he's been exposed. Just not cut out for the Premiership. Too fragile physically and looks average technically. For a Brazil no. 10 we sure got a dud one.

Will likely do okay in Italy where the pace of play and fewer games will suit him.

If Juventus still want him as a makeweight in a possible Pogba deal we should bite their hand off.

Technically I think he has the tools but physically he doesn't have enough pure athleticism to make them count. Zero pace, zero aerial ability, lightweight in the challenge and not got the gas to be an all action midfielder ala Willian.

While I agree he's not done enough to warrant starting for us, this post of yours is a good example of hyperbole. Something I think you are guilty of at times when criticising Oscar.

I don't want to seem like I'm making yet another excuse for Oscar as I said going into this season he has to perform but with the unusual way our season has panned out I can cut him some slack for not making the most of his supposed break through season. I would fully understand those who choose to disregard these unusual factors that have contributed to our terrible season and still lobby for him to be sold (years of frustration no doubt) but, perhaps foolishly, I'm not ready to give up on Oscar just yet. Especially not in these circumstances when no one is really performing.

If Costa did that every paper would be pointing to it in the morning.

I liked the chant of 'Jose was right, the refs are sh!te' someone was singing today.

Of course it could have been United fans singing 'Jose was right, you lot are sh!te' at our players. Anyone else hear that?

Ridiculous thing to say, honestly some of the things people say are hilarious on here.

I'm still waiting for sky to show it every 20 minutes, Rooney's crimes.

See now this is a much more pertinent argument, rather than he has no technique, which is blatantly bollocks. He has pace but what he doesn't have is a change of pace in my opinion. It's why I don't understand the strange hesitancy to play him deeper, he looks ideal to play either alongside a holding midfielder or just in front of 2.

Nah your right, he's not a good footballer, just managed to play for us and Brazil through sheer luck I suppose.

He may well be good enough for Brazil, but the evidence of our own eyes tells us that he is not good enough to be the Chelsea #10. Unless of course, a #10 is supposed to contribute minimally in terms of goals and assists, in which case he is perfect!

But he isn't very good for us and playing for Brazil again is down to opinion of the manager. Would i have Oscar in the Brazil team ahead of Coutinho? no but Scolari did. This guy picked Maxwell instead of Felipe Luis, Even Fred has 30 odd caps for Brazil and i don't rate him much. Ramires plays for Brazil and you can't tell me he is a good technical footballer.

It really isn't, you said the same thing to me at the start of the season when i said KDB sh*ts on Oscar.

They play in entirely different positions, so comparison is unfair.

Oscar certainly didn't perform well yesterday, but none of the front 4 did, so to single Oscar out shows that he has become the latest Scapegoat.  There were times yesterday where teh front 4 could have had a blanket thrown over them all at once, and they were passing in very short, tight spaces, with no-one seemingly willing to try anything.

I think Oscar is a fantastic player, and I would like to see us maybe switch to a 4.3.3 with him and RLC part of the 3 just ahead of either Matic or MIkel.

^^^^^^

That is THE moment Ramires will always be remembered for by Chelsea fans and what a moment.

He has scored a few other blinders - great goal against Man City and another at Leicester last season and I'm sure there are one or two more. But as good as they are, they are few & far between. Other than the Barca goal, my lasting memory of Ramires will be a player who had an obscene amount of energy, who could run & run and then run some more but gave the ball away more than any other Chelsea player I can recall and on the whole was pretty ordinary (especially for a Brazilian!)

Yet another "handy squad player" which we seem to have too many of.

Yeah but playing for a top national team like Brazil you should at least be able to pass and control a football on a consistent basis.

that's a completely different argument, so I don't see what this has to do with De Bruyne.

Also, Oscar hasn't had a consistent run of matches in the team.  I do agree he can be frustrating; however, I will not blindly sit by and claim that he's a terrible player and should be sold immediately.

In the summer, it wouldn't surprise me if he did leave to say Italy.

It has nothing to do with Oscar performance yesterday its to do with his 4 seasons at the club where to me he hasn't looked like he has improved at all. People have kept making excuses for him and yet he seems to have gotten worse. I don't rate him as a number 10 try him in a deeper role and see how it gets on but as a no 10 he is nowhere near creative enough.

WE seem to have a lot of those, and it also seems to be a trait of Jose's teams in the past.  I remember talking about Jose's love of talisman type players, and how in his past reign he'd had a few uninspiring, but work horse players by the time he left: Thiago, Jarosik, and a few others

I still think this team has a lot of players like this, but we also have a lot of flair players too.  And what we need is someone to link the two.  Currently those players, for me, are Fabregas and Oscar.  Just a shame neither of them are really performing currently.

I never said this was about yesterday.  Look at my previous post where I talk about going back to 4.3.3 and using  him and RLC in the midfield 3 with Matic or Mikel.  I think we are agreeing on some of the same things, but we may disagree in that I don't think he's a "terrible" player as some have suggested.
