If Jose wanted a right back, he could have gone after Clyne ( who didn't cost liverpool that much), home grown player too. I think it's his arrogance and pride again, rather get sacked than admitting the wrong.

Clyne,seriously?????Azpi sh*ts on him with his eyes closed,they are not even close in terms of ability,as a matter of fact i cant think of a better RB than him,he is THAT good,and to think that mou plays him out of position makes my eyes bleed

Up until a few years ago Ivan was a CB. We even had Bosingwa as our first choice RB over him for a season or 2. He may have had a couple of good seasons at RB since he made that position his own but I have always seen him as a CB playing out of position. Nothing has changed in that respect. He has never had the pace or agility to be a natural full back. However now he is a year old and that bit slower it is even more glaring. I still think he could do a job in the center. But we need to start playing Dave at RB in his natural position. I know there are some doubts over Baba's defensive capabilities but he can't be any more risky than Ivan on current form and he offers way more going forward.

Well when he's getting skinned by League One players as we saw against Walsall the other day, he probably should just give up on football altogether. 

I need to see a game without him, has anyone considered what would be said if he's dropped and we stilll don't perform well. That's my fear, but until he misses a game we won't know.

He does need to be dropped at the moment.He would be better as cover in central defence.He even has the build of a center back.Rahman has to be trusted imo.

I would say both Cesc and him have to get dropped to better assess this. I think it's a collective thing that led to our dip in form. 

 

Without Ivan, we may have a defence with more pace but our midfield still lacks stability with Cesc around (which can have adverse effects on both our defence and attack).

He needs dropping for a good 5-6 games. If he misses 1 game, especially a non-PL one, then it's resting/rotating & Mourinho is making a mug of you for thinking otherwise. If he does sit out until the new year I'll be confident he has identified the problem in our defence.

Apparently won only one of his ten attempted tackles last night, won no aerial duels, misplaced ten passes and failed to complete any crosses.

Performances like that saw Schurrle or Oscar banished from the side for three weeks.

It's the standing off with the hands behind the back that really annoy me. Might as well be strolling round a museum.

Also missing Courtois badly I feel, set pieces we are all over the place. No one on posts etc.

On my 'time hop' feed a couple of weeks ago a tweet I posted from a year ago came up which said 'Ivanovic is clearly our weakest link and needs dropping', it was obvious even back then.

There can be no doubt (except maybe in Jose's mind) that Ivan needs a spell on the sidelines. Again last night he was well beyond poor. We are now utterly vulnerable down the right and the whole of the football world can see it and use it.

 

It has been well mentioned elsewhere though, that to leave Ivan out, JT MUST come back in. JT is Captain and Ivan is Vice Captain and they cannot BOTH be out of the side together, God knows we have few enough leaders as it is !!! 

 

It looks to me as though Jose is making JT pay for something (a fight with Costa perhaps?) but JT now deserves a chance at redemption and with that Jose can leave Ivan out.

jose can't drop both his captain AND his vice captain, it totally undermines all squad leadership and leaves the team rudderless. jose loves having a leaders, someone who transmits his personality on the pitch, and there is no way on this earth that mourinho will drop both, no f**king chance.

Agreed I am abit sick of him saying he's dropping players and it's only for a CL or a League Cup game. We know he'd have played that team anyway for those games.

Aside from the Arsenal game he has been abysmal. I genuinely think dropping Ivanovic will do wonders for our form even in the absence of other changes.

That can't be right, he made about 4 tackles in the opening ten mins alone if I recall correctly.

not sure gem - a lot of simple "he needs dropped" claims without thinking why he isnt getting dropped.

 

for me it comes down to the fact that he just cant bench both jt and ivanovic, as i said it undermines the leadership of the team and makes a mockery of the captaincy / vice captaincy. 

 

we can yell about it all we want but so long as JT is out of the team, ivanovic is in.
