January 23, 20251 yr As I mentioned a while back, tomorrow is the CPO AGM. Will post about it sometime on Saturday. Won't be tomorrow as after the AGM we'll be heading off for a couple of beers and a curry.
January 25, 20251 yr A few comments on yesterday's CPO AGM. In short, no news about a redevelopment of the ground or a move to another site. James Gannon who is the club's President and Chief Operating Officer and one of the directors, Daniel Finkelstein were in attendance. Finkelstein didn't speak but Gannon did and then answered a few questions from CPO share-holders. Gannon explained that his background in real estate and then went onto explain that options are still being considered but when pressed didn't give anymore information. Obviously bound by legal and commercial considerations. Was asked about the purchase of part of the Stoll Estate and if the local council had been contacted about compulsory purchases of nearby properties. Again couldn't give an answer. Apparently Spurs and Arsenal were allowed to carry out compulsory purchases. In my view compulsory purchases wouldn't be popular with local residents and businesses. Was asked about a legal obligation to develop. Again no comment. As an aside a share-holder asked about the East Stand which is 50 years old and probably needs a lot of work done on it. In the past I've spoken to a few people in the building trade and they've all said that the East Stand doesn't meet building regulations. Gannon was asked keeping the CPO informed. He said the CPO would be consulted. Gannon commented on the club looking at the match day experiencing and what could be down now and in the future. No further details. Match day experience can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Some people spend a bit of time in the bars in the ground and shop before kick-off. Others, like me, arrive at the ground at about 15 minutes before kick-off. The most interesting comment made by Gannon was about capacity of the ground and that could depend on circumstances. Again no further comment. For me, Gannon just came out with a load of management speak i.e. said a lot without saying anything at all. The type of stuff I used to hear at work and I worked in a U.K. Government Department. After Gannon's speech and "answering" questions there was discussion and questions about the CPO carrying out more publicity and getting younger fans involved and buying CPO shares. As has been mentioned before as regards the Premier League and probably beyond Chelsea has the oldest fanbase e.g. old gits like me. That covers those who go to Stamford Bridge. As for those who go to Kingsmeadow the fanbase is younger. As someone who has ST for the men's and women's teams I've noticed the difference. I spoke to one of the CPO staff and mentioned that I had read comments by a couple of fans who hadn't been notified of the CPO AGM. A couple of other people also mentioned about the lack of information. It was suggested that those people contact the CPO. If I think of anything else I'll post. If the ground is ever developed I'll probably have gone to the great football ground/pub/bookshop in the sky. KTBFFH WATP.

Alas that wasn't to be. A number of people - a figure wasn't given - joined by Zoom.

January 26, 20251 yr Whats the point in having a new stadium? Can you imagine? The Cathedral of Football, a modern marvel of a stadium, fitting of hosting the very best sporting spectacles the world has ever seen. £2bn+ worth of concrete, steel and glass, in a prime west london location....A stadium to make us proud..... .....and then we turn up and see Maresca still picking Jackson and Sanchez, and us losing to bournemouth 3v0.

If Gannon and Finkelstein had been allowed to answer questions about other matters concerning the club the meeting would have become very heated. I was a Chelsea Supporters Trust meeting last year and the board of the Trust mentioned that they are hoping to set up a Q&A with CST members and members of the board in attendance. Hopefully that meeting will go ahead. At the CST meeting it was mentioned that Daniel Levy has had Q&A sessions with Spurs supporters groups. Would be nice if Boehly and one of his cohorts did the same at Chelsea.

Were the club more forthcoming in the past? Mind you I suppose apart from the stadium moving to Battersea there wasn't much controversy? Certainty ticket prices were more or less fixed for a long time.. . I reckon concessions might be under severe scrutiny next season after Hammers and Spurs have stopped giving them to newly qualified fans.. ( seniors and juniors)
January 30, 20251 yr All this stadium talk is all very interesting, but we all know that Heathrow will get its 3rd, 4th and 5th runways built before we get a new stadium. Edited January 30, 20251 yr by Snedger

I reckon concessions might be under severe scrutiny next season after Hammers and Spurs have stopped giving them to newly qualified fans.. ( seniors and juniors) @The Rising Sun Previous CPO meetings have been mixed. In all those I have attended there has been unsurprisingly a lot of debate about staying at the Bridge given CPO's ownership of the pitch and the name. I wasn't there but at one of the CPO AGMs a few years back Bruce Buck was in attendance and there were heated discussions about the buying up of shares by the club to get around the ownership by the CPO. For the life of me I can't remember the outcome and will need to check with those who were there. Will see them at Monday's game against the Pikeys. There has been criticism of the CPO Board for not doing enough. There is only so much they can apart from making sure that they and CPO share-holders are kept informed of what is happening. Membership of the Board has changed over the years. Same with any board. Rick Glanvill was on the board but gave up his post due to a clash of interests with him being the club's official historian. At every AGM I've been at there has been discussions about how to get more and more youngsters on board as from looking around at attendees the youngest must be in their early fifties. Could be tricky as this is not criticism of youngsters as they may not necessarily know about the history of the CPO unless told by their parents, grand-parents etc. It has been suggested that when people renew or buy a ST that an amount is added to the price to go towards the CPO and help to repay back the loan. Can't see adding to the price of an ST as you can't force people. It would have to be voluntary. It wouldn't surprise me if concessionary rates were scrapped. A right pain as I'm due to pay the old gits rate from the start of the 26/27. The issue of stadium redevelopment is going to drag on for a good while yet. As us Rangers fans say We Are The People.
January 31, 20251 yr https://x.com/jbsticks/status/1885043433502363861 Interesting posts regarding Chelsea and Earls court. Edited January 31, 20251 yr by royce987
February 5, 20251 yr 'from the Sun 6 days ago. Doesn't really make much sense about the housing, but....... "Last year, the Blues were again linked with a possible move to Earl’s Court, a mile from the ground, where the exhibition and concert centre was closed in 2014 and demolished 12 months later. The latest plans for the redevelopment of the site include 4,000 homes, a shopping centre and a park, with no provision for a football stadium. But the idea of the club moving to Earl's Court could be back on the agenda - with the possibility of Government funding similar to the Man Utd plan. Hammersmith and Fulham Council could then seek to use the 14-acre current stadium site to meet its housing needs and rejuvenate the area."

February 18, 20251 yr Everton's new stadium looks pretty goodBBC SportEverton Stadium: 'It's out of this world' - Toffees fans...Everton fans get their first view inside the club's new ground at a Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium test event.Such a shame that the UK government took their stance against Roman. If they'd renewed his visas in the first place, we'd probably be playing in his fabulous Gothic stadium by now ...
February 18, 20251 yr It's so sad that we will never get a new stadium as our current site is not cost effectively transformable and any new land suitable is so far away we would probably end up playing in Ligue 1.
February 18, 20251 yr Im now of the opinion every single move away from Stamford Bridge should be bitterly opposed. I think after nearly 3 years worth of asset stripping the club of all wealth, us fans should not think the owners are benevolent and generous and care about the club.... They really dont, they just want money at all costs. Any move from SB needs to be opposed- bitterly, bitterly opposed.

God knows what the Stamford Bridge site is worth if they were to sell it off for redevelopment. Only for us to end up in some modern soulless stadium, probably miles away.
February 18, 20251 yr I do not trust those that built this squad to build our new stadium. I mean what makes you think they know any more about construction than they do about football?
February 18, 20251 yr I don't know much about the area around Fulham & Chelsea. It doesn't seem like there's much space to move to a new area, so what are our options? London is pretty congested in regards to land space. It is frustrating that other big clubs can move to a new site or build far easier (it seems) than we can. I understand Roman favoured success on the pitch rather than investing so much money into a new stadium, but soon it will become unsustainable to continue at a 42k stadium when even smaller clubs are building bigger and better.
