Ivanovic to PSG?

Featured Replies

I brought that point up a while back and someone more ITK informed me that he had to go out on loan for work permit reasons.

Sill shouldve gone to Vitesse

From sky sports;

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has insisted he is the 'happiest' he has been at Stamford Bridge as the club fight for the Premier League title.

Ivanovic joined Chelsea over six years ago from Lokomotiv Moscow and the Serbia international has made over 250 appearances for the club.

He has recently been linked with a summer move to Paris St Germain, but the 30-year-old is enjoying his time under Jose Mourinho.

The Blues currently lead the table by four points and Ivanovic is delighted with the potential that lies within Mourinho's squad.

"I can say this is the happiest I have been at Chelsea because, at the moment, the team is doing well and things are going right for us," said Ivanovic ahead of Serbia's friendly with the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday.

"We have improved as a team since the beginning of the season, it looks like we are a very strong team but we have the potential to make and build an amazing team."

I think we'd be mad to let him go, great cover for cb, knows the prem well, has big match experience, always works hard and can score a vital goal here and there. He's been one of the most consistent players over the years, but unfortunately that means he won't be playing in the final...

I would hate to see Ivanovic leave, he's a top defender and a big game player, not to mention the fact that he has endeared himself massively to the fans and written himself into Chelsea folklore with his Champions League and Europa League Final goals. I think there was an interview with someone in which they said Ivanovic is the hardest member of the squad - we shouldn't throw that away considering our front four and the fact that JT doesn't have all that much left in the tank...

Also, I can't imagine PSG wanting him badly enough to be willing to sacrifice Cavani, which is really the only circumstance under which I would even consider letting Bran the man leave.

PSG annoy me, if someone tries to buy one of their players that they don't want to sell they act offended and threaten to bid silly money for one of the bidders key players. Yet they think its a okay to try and buy anyone they feel like.

They usually threaten to tap them illegally too from what I've read. Not sure how much truth is in that but still a pretty lousy thing. PSG are a nuisance. They're like the spoilt brat with the rich daddy. I've lost count of the amount of players in our team that they've shown interest in. It seems they choose one, get rejected and then look at the rest of our squad for another diamond, rinse and repeat. Seeing the PSG acronym in any news story involving Chelsea players usually results in furrowed eyebrows for me.

They're run by a bunch of rich manchildren. Ourselves, Manchester City and Monaco may have similar owners but we at least try to abide by some footballing etiquette.

Their chairman runs his mouth more than Chris Jericho.

Hahaha that last sentence cracked me up. Yes he does, and this is one of the reasons I hope to see the Blues dump them from the CL.

Though, it'll probably result in them trying to sign our whole starting 11 in the summer!

Paris Saint-Germain want talks with Chelsea over defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Not content with taking David Luiz for £50m, the French champions have expressed interest in Eden Hazard, Oscar and Petr Cech. Yet they have Ivanovic back on the agenda after realising Chelsea will not offer him a new contract just yet.

The Serbia defender, 30, has two years left on his deal and is keen to tie himself to Stamford Bridge until the end of his career.

However, Chelsea's policy now is similar to other big clubs, where they will only offer one-year extensions to players of 30 or above.

That means any proposed talks will be shelved until next summer when Ivanovic has 12 months remaining.

The defender and his representatives wanted to add another two years to his deal supported by statistics that show he has averaged over 40 games a season for the past five years.

PSG are willing to offer Ivanovic that security and will bid around £15million for him should his relationship with Chelsea deteriorate.

Jose Mourinho is in the throes of lowering his squad's age with the likes of 19-year-old Kurt Zouma due to arrive and tentative enquiries made for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane, 21, yet the coach recognises a need for experience if they are to win the big games.

That has been reflected in their talks with Atletico Madrid where they have discussed four players, notably 28-year-old left back Filipe Luis, 28-year-old centre back Diego Godin plus free agent Tiago, 33, and Diego Costa, 25.

Ivanovic is still a favourite with Mourinho but the club policy may force his departure.

50 for Luiz but 15 for Ivanovic??

If a good offer comes in I wouldn't be against us taking it, Dave should have the RB spot and we could use the money to get a proper left back.

That said, 15 million is total sh*te.

I can't see us letting him go considering we already need to bring in a left back, midfielder and striker... We're not going to want too much upheaval in the squad so I can't see us letting someone like Ivan go.

yep, plus if Jose was willing to play Dave out of position and drop Ash just to accommodate Iva, he's quite clearly a manager favourite.

How are PSG being allowed to free roam with all this money?

Because they don't fear Uefa and the fair play punishments I guess.

I am in the minority here. I think if we can get 25 million out of them, we take it.

JT has got 2 seasons left hopefully, we've got a ton of highly rated defenders about ready to go, Cahill has come on so much since joining us, and Iva has bee playing at his 2nd position for so long (and personally I hate him at RB but to his attacking limitations). We would effectively be replacing out 3rd string CB, as I think we can improve on RB instantly just by moving Dave back to the right.

Let's not forget get Ivan has scored some very important goals for us, although his crossing is bad I don't think he should be sold. He has been one of the better players for us over the last few years

While I mostly agree with that, selling Ivanovic leaves us without any quality cover for RB/LB. Not sure thats a good idea

Why don't we sell all of our players and get profit and buy others?

I mean seriously we have sold/released more than 4-5 players this season already(4 of them were fan favourite) and Ivanovic is such a respected figure I just can't imagine.
