June 5, 201412 yr Good point! I know, I was like, he's 27!! How long was he at arsenal for. Turns out he was there since he was 16!!
June 5, 201412 yr Read on Balague's twitter that conversations are taking place but NO DEAL YET Balague talks so much sh*t. I'd be more inclined to trust Talksport....(!)

June 5, 201412 yr Torres : Asked about Cesc's potential move to Chelsea, he replied that "Big players are always good signings".
June 5, 201412 yr Head says he would be a good signing, my heart says keep the bollox away from our club. Not too sure why I feel like that TBH.
June 5, 201412 yr yeah Balague got about 2 things correct last summer out of the 1000's of things he said and even then other sources are leaking the same stuff! Almost every paper has now reported on this so it looks pretty likely to me.. My only qualm with sexy fabulous is his commitment to chelsea if does actually sign... what happens if he doesn't play to his full potential or rather lacks effort against the arsenals and utds etc? how will he respond to jose etc? maybe thats why there are a few doubts, is cesc a diva? as soon as hes rubbish in one game everyone will be on his back too! Its interesting to think about the difference between him..and mata....maybe cesc is better at tracking back and like that torres quote, maybe they want him to orchestrate from cm? is a bit baffling, maybe cesc will play more to joses style, but isnt that totally opposite to what cesc has been doing his entire career? arsenal and barca..?
June 5, 201412 yr Torres always plays sh*t (against most teams) against Liverpool but yet he is still picked. I made the point about us buying Ashley Cole from the gooners and I dont know a single Chelesa fan that liked him before he joined us but he went on to become the best left back our club has even seen and he grew to love the club.

And don't forget who lamps came from, and we all know how well that turned out.

I've always had him down as top professional, and a grounded person. He's been unpopular with barca fans for 2 seasons, yet his performances have been solid considering how many positions he gets used in. I think he could become a leader for us as well, we are running low on characters in the dressing room, im sure a couple of the younger players will step up, but I think the impact of lampard, cole, and luiz's departure will be a massive loss off the pitch as much as on it.

If we signed Fabregas then I could see us playing 4-3-3 rather than 4-2-3-1, allowing 2 central players more freedom to get forward. For arguments sake you might see something like Matic Fabregas - Oscar/Ramires Willian - Costa - Hazard Matic would play the Makalele type role of sitting and getting everything started and then the other two midfielders play how Essien and Lampard did, more box to box having influence all over the pitch. Only problem I could see with that is that with the exception of Salah none of our attacking midfielders are natural wingers and we could end up looking quire narrow with everyone cutting inside.
June 5, 201412 yr If this signing goes through I think that could be the end of our business for the summer. Really good to get it done early instead of doing an arsenal and waiting until august 31st to sign someone. It shows we mean business!
June 5, 201412 yr bbc saying arsenal def dont want him back, idiots! £35m they say.. David OrnsteinBBC Sport FootballPosted at 14:06 "Arsenal have informed Barcelona they will not be exercising a buy-back option on Cesc Fabregas, raising the prospect of the midfielder signing for one of their Premier League rivals. "The Gunners inserted the clause when selling their captain to his boyhood side for £35m in 2011, and they were duly given first refusal after Barca decided he could leave for £30m." Salah and Hazard are both natural wingers. If by natural you mean somebody who hugs the touchline and crosses and is left footed and plays on the left wing (or right footed and plays on the right wing). In reality all of our wingers cut in and thats probably the case most top clubs. Thats why its important we have full backs who can cross and provide the width, if we sign Filipe Luis we should have just that (considering Azpilicueta is moved to the right).

They don't have room for him though so I wouldn't call them idiots. They have other areas that need strengthening.
June 5, 201412 yr Isn't that the same thing? First refusal means that Arsenal would have to match the offer whilst a buy back clause would mean there is a fixed amount that Arsenal can pay.
