Really hoping that Matic can repay the faith that Conte has in him to deliver for the team this season.

I hope Matic can come back, but the over a year of being a passenger will be very difficult for him to come back from.

I just don't think you can just switch it back on again, especially when to me it seems like he can't even do the basics now.

Playing next to Kante helps him a lot, they both didn't allow any ball move from the central, I actually could feel that we got the central in our hands.

i think that's harsh enigma. thought he was absolutely incredible in the second half, dominated kicks from oppo's goal keeper, dominated the running game and found his passing feet throughout the game. absolutely incredible increase in fitness on him from last season to this, really thought his athleticism looked the part again.

Oh don't get me wrong he played so much better than anything we've seen last season, but I think there's still more to come from him. I am comparing him to his first season for us where he was crazy good, I just want him back to that matic again.

If Matic gets back to his best we would have a genuine world class midfield 3 and the best midfield in the PL!

Broke up play or rather played second fiddle to Kante in that job. Helped control the mid and control the possession.

I think this is the 3rd time we have seen Kante-Matic along with each other and they look good.

Also, the more we push him towards the left, the better because of his poor right foot. While playing in the 2 man mid, a lot of times he was found out on that.

 

Maybe not a brilliant performance, but definitely a very good performance and his best performance in the last 12+ months. 

 

I always felt Matic was being burdened by cesc and his defensive liability. Yes he was sh*t the last season but it was due to multiple factors (a lot also down to that substitution against Soton (i think)). 

I wouldn't go as a far as brilliance but he did more than just 'not do anything wrong'.. credit due where it dues..

He was average, did his job with no frills, 6.5/10 etc, happy to listen if you want to elaborate with examples rather than just argue the toss....?

We played a brilliant game and surpassed my expectations with flying colours. So after the game, most of them will get a bit more praise than needed. Alcohol has a way to make emotions flow more forcefully. :)

He was better, but then it wasn't hard to be better, I am trying to remain optimistic that he'll get back to his best.

Matic looked lot more his old self. Not there yet but looks good alongside Kante.

I won't judge him yet because he always look good when we dominate a match. But his flaws become obvious when the opposition is the dominant team. Regardless I still want Fabregas back in that position. Why should we risk it? Matic is easily replaceable but to sign a player as creative as Fabregas today, we will have to spend not less than 50m despite the fact that the incoming player might flop! Well I will wait to have a clearer view of what Conte is up to by putting Fabregas on the bench.

Depends on what you expect him to do.. In term of breaking up play and recovering possesion, he did well, I'd say 7.5/10 at the very least... I don't really expect offensive contribution from a DM so I don't use that for measurement..

If cesc starts, it should be to replace Oscar. Why would we play a midfield 3 of cesc-kante-oscar while having a defence that is slower than my grandma.

He played very well in my book. With him and Kante we have a very, very solid foundation if Matic can keep it up alongside Kante. Yesterday he sweeped up a lot, and stopped West Ham players numerous times.

Matic was brilliant for me I watched him closely he won back possession so often make some crucial tackles and am sure many of you didn't see when Kante got booked he whisper something in his ears straight away i suspect he said something like let me do the pressing or just relax after that 

 

Not back to his best but much much better compared to last year
