My point is, we won the league that season basically because we were very strong in the attack rather than the defence. At that time Costa was still unpredictable for most defenders and Hazard was in the best form of his life, you just can't stop him. Hazard's moves usually pave the way for Fabregas to give that final pass to Costa.

Any team that's planning to avoid defeat against us focus mainly on how to stop us from scoring them. As a result of that we rarely get exposed defensively until the Tothenham game till date. Well I guessed that's the reason why Conte is also trying to strengthen our attack this season and paying less attention to the defence.

Didn't Chelsea concede less goals than any premier league team that year? Mourinho always builds his team from defence first.

It seems, according to match reports Matic played well against AC Milan. Him and Kante were solid and it allowed the forward players to move higher up the pitch without fear of defensive cover being their priority.
I think/hope that a more positive attitude from the manager and the introduction of Kante will bring back the best of Matic.

i think he never recovers from the suspension and is time to sell him. One of year of sh*tty performance no one would even make a bid on him and he would just become another Mikel

I think the price is mainly because of how beastly he was a year or so back. If he gets that form back for any other team he would be a bargain. Doesn't look like it'll happen at chelsea though so may as well get rid.

 It's things like this that has us fans feeling frustrated.. manager that has a soft spot on certain player that we think not up to standard.. both jose & hddink annoyed me in that department, is conte going to follow the trend?

For me he was the most important player in the title winning season and it showed last year when his form in particular dropped.  We know this as well, hence the prices being quoted are so high, we wouldn't let someone that capable go for any less.

Juve and madrid are both apparently desperate for matic, id be happy to see him go as long as we get a centre back in return. Varane and rugani are both not in either teams starting 11, maybe its about time we held clubs to ransom.
