Mohamed Salah to Chelsea

Jose's signing.

Been here 2 months and not had a look in.

What is going on ?

Surely 2 months is plenty of time to get a player up to match fitness ?

Was really looking forward to see him using his pace and running at defenders.

He was not in the game (against Manchester City). He has that (pace) but he was not in the game.

"It's important for him to come step by step and try to improve and adapt. This is a different world, a different quality of football to the one he comes from.

"You know, playing at Stamford Bridge is not the same as playing for Basel.

"With Basel you play to enjoy your time and you have nothing to lose. While in the blue shirt, you have 40,000 people that you are required to please. Everyone wants you to be decisive, all the time.

"So I think Mohamed needs six months to adapt to our game and the demands of the Premier League.

"I am calm and I'm telling him he has time because we have confidence in him. I think next season is Mohamed Salah's breakthrough season."

I suspect now that he might have been signed as a makeweight after losing KDB and Mata in January. If he settles in and earns a place in the side then great, but I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually goes the same way as Marin.

poor show by the club to be honest. no need to waste money on a player who isn't going to be used. at least with youth you can test the waters and throw them back into the youth team if they don't cut it, but we have just wasted money for no reason.

Or conversely, he was signed for next season but has these 6 months to adapt to life in England and get used to the squad so that he can hit the ground running next year?

Just because he isn't being used in the short term doesn't mean there isn't a long term goal for him.

Let's face it we signed this boy so Liverpool couldn't.

We obviously rate him but Jose wants him to get to know the culture ect before involving him too much in our run in.

Some will see it as a wast of time and talent others will see it as preparing the lad for next season.

Time will tell who is right on this one.

I just think his price tag suggested he was good enough now.

he's competing against willian, hazard and schurrle. he has got a job on trying to replace any of those, and lets face it, we're not sweeping teams aside so its hard finding a game where he can come on for some meaningful game time.

f we were 3/4-0 up by the 60 minute mark, you could bring him on for half an hour. we're generally not. in tight games, its a risk taking off a more established player for him, and if we go comfortably ahead with 5-10 mins to go is it really going to benefit him coming on for such a small amount of time. he could have done with being here earlier to play in the early rounds of the carling cup and fa cup.

He's the cheapest of our attacking midfield options... As scary as it sounds £11m just isn't a lot of money for squad players anymore.

We spent £12.5m on Zuoma and was happy for him to stay on loan.

Very promising today. Quick as hell, very hardworking defensivly and good timing of his runs.
