Chelsea v Newcastle (PL) 08/02/14 KO 15:00 GMT

Featured Replies

A must win but I think there will be a few changes some of the boys run themselves into the ground tonight.

5 days is plenty to get them fit for this match

Same team for me apart from oscar coming back in for luiz or matic. Matic and luiz were immense tonight but we need the legs of ramires. I'd probably go matic and ramires

Newcastle are not doing so well of late, not quite West Ham level of poor but not so good.

We lost there when they were decent, and we were crap. Time to set the record straight.

Keep the momentum going, some tough league games after this at WBA and home to Everton, along with the City FA cup game and the trip to Turkey. Difficult looking month this Feburary is, but we have made a cracking start to it.

Team for the Toon:

Cech

Azpi

Cole

Cahill

JT

Lampard

Matic

Salah

Oscar

Hazard

Eto`ò

Hit them hard from the off, they are there for the taking.

To be fair, I'm more nervous about this kind of game than playing City. No doubt they will sit deep and block the middle, it's up to us to find the way through them. It's easy to motivate when playing big teams, we may just be a bit slack against teams like Newcastle ( like earlier this year). I would leave out Ettot and Willian, think they have done enough running this week. Ba needs a start, bit too soon for Salah, so the German is in.

No mistakes this time. We're at home after beating Manchester City.

They'll park the bus but we'll obliterate them.

If we score early in the first half and force them out this will be a massacre.

After West Ham and my 100% will win stuff I'm saying nothing!

Key here in this game I believe is scoring early . If we let it drag out anything could happen .

But with no Cabeye and no Remy - surely we have to get up for this one ......

Expecting it to be tough against the toon , as always .

Can't afford to undo the win against City like we did the last time. Hopefully Salah gets a start.

------------ Cech ------------

Ivan - Cahill - Terry - Dave

----- Ramires --- Matic -----

Salah ---- Oscar ---- Hazard

------------- Eto'o -------------

4-0.

Eto'o 25', Cahill 34', Oscar 58', Matic 84'.

Bank on it!

ooohhh you will get some stick from some on here for predicting an easy win if we do not win again like the West Ham game.

I'd like to see Mohammed Salah start this game.

It's a home tie against an (arguably) weakened Newcastle side. Good chance to break him into the side.

------------ Cech ------------

Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry - Cole

----- Lampard --- Matic -----

Salah ---- Oscar ---- Hazard

------------- Ba -------------

That's what I'd go with.

As far as subs go...

Ba off for Eto'o

Lampard off for Ramires

Cole off for either Azpilicueta or Luiz

Where the f**k is the guy here who went to his boring friend's house where he has never seen Chelsea lose? We all owe him thanks.

Should go to his friends house every game for the rest of the season really lol.

Cech

Cole

Terry

Cahill

Ivanovic

Matic

Lampard

Salah

Oscar

Hazard

Eto'o

would have to agree with the above.

That said, be nice to give the boys in the back a little break....

Schurle to come on for Hazard at some point too.

Wasn't that ForeverCarefree?

Cabaye sold, Remy suspended and Coloccini injured, and they're coming off a demoralizing 3-0 thumping at home from their bitter rivals, I feel a lot better about this than the West Ham game.

Can't afford any slip ups, hope we throw everything at them from the first minute.

Matic and Lampard sounds like a good midfield to me, I wonder if we might see the forgotten man Andre Schurrle sometime soon?

With Champions League and FA Cup games approaching the fixture list will be a lot tighter and will be rotated more.

Only having a game a week at the moment (sucks)

That's the point. We can't really afford slip ups. 3 points here is the same as 3 points at citeh. And because we don't score goals as easily as citeh have done over this season we will have to work hard to get those points.

We will see a couple of changes

Lampard may well get a run in this game, Oscar will play.

That would be me lol. Sorry to disappoint, but I have a game myself.

City win should lift our players so much we'll win Newcastle. They got rid of Kinnear and sold their best player to PSG.

I'm predicting 3-1. Eto'o, Frank and Hazard.

Moments like these is when players like Terry come big. He must be talking to the squad (w Billy) how important it is to just keep going and keeping the foot on the pedal and taking no opposition for granted. Same goes to Frank. They know how a title is won.

Bloody hell it was easier when before City win now that we are title contenders 😄. Different kind of pressure...

Hopefully there won't be any hang over from the good Man City win. Newcastle are in a bad spot at the moment with injuries and transfers and boardroom fiascos, they are there for the taking. I'll go for 2-0 Chelsea, with goals from Eto'o and Lampard
