What worries me about this statement is these features are not what Jose was looking for last season when he was looking at Rooney, so what changed? Like someone pointed out in a prior post he had this release clause last season when Falcao was going for £50m, why didn't we activate it then? Real Madrid & Barca are also after forwards, why are they not activating his release clause but looking at Suarez/Aguero? It doesn't add up; if he comes here though we will all back him but I am a bit sceptical, he has had just one very good season and we have seen seasoned forwards like Soldado flop in the PL.

ducavis I'm not sure Jose believes there is the one striker who can make it all happen out there, so he is looking in different places. Let's remember that this is a guy who won a treble with Diego Milito. He can pick a striker who will score in his systems.

I have an existing accord about 60 pages back that Costa will not score more premiership goals then Torres has to date next season if with us. (that was 19 at the time of the best and I believe it still is.) Unfortunately I'm  a non believer

Torres wasn't our only problem in attack last season. In general we lacked creativity in the centre of the park.

We missed matas creativity, goals and dead ball work in the last third of the season. This was particularly evident when Oscar and ramires went off form.

I wouldn't say Chelsea missed Mata. Despite of Oscar lack of form, plenty of chances were offered, but not converted.

Who is writing him off? We are all just giving our opinions. 

Unfortunately i'm too lazy to count how many times it's been said that we shouldn't / don't judge him soley on his international performances. But trust me, it's more than a few.

From what I remember there were a few skeptics with the vast majority in favour of him signing but since his poor showing for Spain it seems to be the other way around.

You don't understand.

Striker threads... They have a mind of their own. They continue to grow & grow to the point nothing new or interesting has been said for 50 pages. You can't stop them, you're not powerful enough. The Internet is not powerful enough.

I think it's more that the Nay Sayers have been given a platform in which to speak from.

I'm decidedly mixed on the subject. I like his dogged will to win, which is something we lacked last year (not as some say creativity) but I think he pushes it too far into a place we don't want to go. If he can take the edge off his insanity and harness his potential ala Suarez we will have the real deal on our hands.
