God, I hope not. A game against the dippers is not the best to make a debut for Alonso and I would honestly rather have Luiz at CB than pair Ivan with Cahill.

wont hurt, he's brought here to replace ivan and a full 2 weeks of training is enough preparation time

Depends on type of sprain.  Sever sprains can be worse than clean breaks.

Aside from fitness, he will also need conditioning. If there's a player who knows Liverpool a lot, it's Terry.

Well, I'll take it as a good news. That looked really bad at first glimpse.

We will miss his leadership at Anfield, certainly.  However, it's not like Cahill and Luiz is a terrible idea with Kante and even Matic ahead of them.

 

I could see that being the only change made to the starting 11.

Really Alonso should play with Dave at RB. Liverpool have nippy and quick attacking players which is everything Ivanovic dreads. Liverpool don't have much height so Ivanovic is not needed for set pieces really.

Phew. It sucks that he will miss the Liverpool game, but at least he's not out for months.
