October 13, 201510 yr I think Falcao this season is a better player than Drogba was last year. As for Remy Vs Falcao. I haven't seen enough of Falcao playing for Chelsea to have a fully formed opinion. Most of his minutes have been when we've been chasing a game and we're resorting to desperate tactics. I think he's overall game is more rounded than Remy who, for me, is next to useless anywhere outside the area and is often pretty unintelligent with his runs. That said Remy obviously has a good scoring record.
October 13, 201510 yr I'd prefer a nice discussion, which is the basis of a forum, but if it must be so... We will have to we have both said our piece anything more would be repeating what's already been said.
October 13, 201510 yr We will have to we have both said our piece anything more would be repeating what's already been said. Well...if you can only manage to repeat yourself after saying your initial piece then for sure it is probably best.
October 13, 201510 yr Drogba brings other perhaps intangible qualities to the side which it seems that Falcao certainly does not. He is a natural leader of men, a great dressing room presence, a keen motivator, seems to have an excellent relationship with more or less everyone in the squad, and has vast amounts of experience of winning every major trophy, including the Champions League, where he more or less grabbed the side by the scruff of the neck and dragged them to the trophy. Falcao seems a more timid and far less confident presence, and in his entire career has only actually played six Champions League games. He is probably currently the better player (although the peaks of both are long behind them now), but without trying to romanticise him too much, Drogba brought more to the side than just his footballing ability.
October 13, 201510 yr Didn't do a bad job last season and he was more effective than Falcao has ever been in the PL They both scored four goals in the league last season and Drogba made more appearances. Drogba was still a handy player to have when defending, though.

October 13, 201510 yr That's my point Well then you missed mine. Stepping down a level (MLS) was the thing he needed to prolong his career. As much I like the man, he was struggling to keep up with the pace of Premier League last season. Just because we have Falcao now doesn't change that. Edited October 13, 201510 yr by Maksimov

As much I like the man, he was struggling to keep up with the pace of Premier League last season. Just because we have Falcao now doesn't change that.mMy point was he offered more than Falcao as an overall player and I stand by that. Of course he's gonna prolong his career in the MLS but he would have done a better job that Falcao IMO who so far has offered little to nothing.
October 13, 201510 yr My point was he offered more than Falcao as an overall player and I stand by that. And I stand by my opinion that Didier was right to move on. Falcao or no Falcao.
October 13, 201510 yr Just as long as he comes back to the Bridge in some supportive role. I hope he comes back as a youth coach. I'm sure he'll be a great influence on the young lads.
October 13, 201510 yr And I stand by my opinion that Didier was right to move on. Falcao or no Falcao. That's not the point here though the point is would Didier now have been a better option that Falcao. The answer for me is yes, it's not about whether he was right to move on or not.
October 13, 201510 yr i think drogba was not at his peak level of fitness for most of last season, but he still managed to score a very crucial goal against Leicester. You could also go as far as asking if chelsea might be further up the table now if he were still around because of his dressing room presence alone.

Let's not forget his importance getting us through against Shrewsbury in the league cup, his goal against Spurs and his performance against United. Also agreed on his presence in the dressing room, that alone makes him a better option than Falcao IMO.
October 14, 201510 yr Let's not forget his importance getting us through against Shrewsbury in the league cup, his goal against Spurs and his performance against United. Also agreed on his presence in the dressing room, that alone makes him a better option than Falcao IMO. He's a player that could play really sh*t, but at the same time could pop up with a crucial goal, i'm not seeing that from our other strikers. I hope he returns some day, he seems to have a really positive impact on the team on and off the field.
October 17, 201510 yr ^^^ Would love it if he comes back to our academy and do that. What a great inspiration to the youngsters!
October 25, 201510 yr 2 more goals from Drogba for Montréal, he can't be stopped :D I had to add this video of The Great DD...I know it's old but it augments your post
October 26, 201510 yr Didier just scored 2 back heel goals within 2 minutes! Love the man, i'm glad to see him doing well there. Simply unstoppable! https://youtu.be/fIlg9c6OJRU
October 26, 201510 yr Don't think it's a coincidence that we won the title when he came back. The media might like to harp on about Terry's influence on the team but I think Drogba is an even more powerful personality in the dressing room. He and mourinho were really close and I can see him really rallying the players to mourinho'so cause if he were here now. We need to have him back as a coach when he finally retires and even possibly groom him as a manager.
October 27, 201510 yr Much as yet another layer of backstage bureaucracy might not be what we need, once Drogba's contract is up I would like to see him return as some form of ambassador between Mourinho and the players. For guys like Hazard who may have had a falling out with Mourinho, I think it would help if they had someone who had the complete trust and affection of both sides who could smooth things over. If he can bring peace to the Ivory Coast, the Chelsea dressing room shouldn't be that much more of a challenge!
October 27, 201510 yr If rumors are to be believed that Arsenal are planning to bring Vierra into their coaching squad maybe we can think of doing the same with Drogba once he decides to hang his boots. Besides LVG is already doing it with Ryan Giggs.
