Blatter has been in power for 16 years. So much for choice and democracy. Even US presidents can only serve two terms. Just heard on the news that Blatter's only potential challenger has withdrawn. It's amazing what bribery can do. Cue the law suits from FIFA

Yep. Blatter pushes money at the FA's of poorer countries and is therefore very popular. It's an overt purchasing of favours. The FIFA programme of football development funding heavily favours Africa, Asia, Latin and South America. Making an obvious point, an African FA receiving $500,000 for a project is a big deal proportionately because of the poverty of some countries. I.e. that much money goes a long way. Such grants obtain for Blatter (whose name is linked clearly to these projects to the extent of being named on 'opened by so-and-so and funded by so-and-so' plaques) a deal of favour.

I don't understand how no-one wants to challenge Blatter to become Fifa president. Surely every man in the world would happily take that job - yet no-one does.

Conspiracy.

I'll do it.

Thought Jim Boyce might have challenged as he always seemed a decent enough sort. However he's 70 now and probably couldn't be bothered. Think they need someone younger now anyway, who is sort of in touch.

I'm a rugby league fan and vrs do solve things, and are a welcome part of the sport. The only problem I have is the propensity to overuse it to analyse every try, to attempt to find a reason not to give it. But when used right it is definitely worth having.

Not really a fan of this.

I like free flowing football, I'd hate it to become like Rugby tbh.

So Platini wants to ban Ribery if he doesn't want to play for France.

What a tool.

How does he possibly think he can enforce that ?

They tried to do the same to Makelele, why is it France can't take it if someone retires?

Ahh, Its the adidas deal we got shafted on right?

I like Samsung on our shirt....but I am not sure if they would be willing to spend the ludicrous amounts on us a la Man Utd...but.. maybe some of those rich Turkish / Arab airlines might...

We absolutely have to get a truly massive deal on the next shirt sponsor, Samsung or not.

I am confident the board can do good business.

The way the Man utd sponsorship happened already can only be a good thing for us financially ?

Yeah it was Adidas that we got far less than Man Ure.

I like Samsung too, they are a classy looking sponsor which is rare these days but it comes down to one thing as you say ££!

I reckon these kind of sponsors would through more money at us to get the global reach they desire, we are a far bigger club and force than we were when we first got Samsung on board so I’m hoping we do well here….no doubt we will still be a good bit behind United though which sucks.

Please read this shower of sh*te ladies and fellas, An utter joke of an article on the mail online, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2748937/Brendan-Rodgers-man-management-transformed-Jordan-Henderson-vital-player-club-country.html

Having a go at Chelsea/City for stunting English players growth and saying we should learn from Arsenal and Liverpool on how to develop English players, I know the guy who wrote the article is a 42 carat bellend but even for him it's unbelievable crap.  :laugh2:  :face_palm:

We should.

Our youth player development is f**king awful.

It has been a long time ago since England won anything.

Why is it that they were not able to develop young players? To blame Chelsea or Citeh for their shortcomings is ridiculous.

Our youth player development is f**king awful.

We all want the young English players to break through, but the days of players breaking through regularly at the very top teams are well and truly over. The premier league is not really an English competition anymore, its merely based in England. Its a global competition filled with global stars.

The game is too big and costly now that young English players wont make it at the top teams unless they are sh*t hot from an early age.

I have no problem with how we work our youth. The club want nothing more than to grow a star organically, but sadly its not very easy.

Players that dont make it are often sold for a reasonable profit which all goes in the kitty to buy big stars. We aren't a club that can afford to stand still and wait. I think the club will make an effort in the likes if the Carling cup to play younger guys, but we have no real grounds to complain. The club is clearly working its arse off.

Depends. Where is the line between our development being awful or our youth players not being good enough. Bit one sided to blame the club for a player not kicking on in his career.

Doesn't help that we pay them sh*t tons of money either though.
