I wasn't convinced either tbh but it goes to show that the media are desperate doesn't it?

Remember they tried to say Ivan bit that Everton player too.

They are morons.

I think we are the only team out of the 3 english sides that are capable of winning it.

Can't see it being an english side this year, Arsenal got a lucky draw, to win it you have to beat the big teams, as soon as they come up against a good side it will be the same old story.

Fair play to Monaco, must be hard playing in such an intimidating atmosphere....

Great draw, they said.

Exactly who we wanted, they said

Oh bollocks, they said.....

Ha ha.

Really good first half there, Arsenal were dominating for the first 20 minutes but Monaco have grown into the game wonderfully.

Absolutely magnificent first half from Kondogbia who has comfortably been the best player on the pitch - Ozil hasn't had a sniff, and I have lost count of the number of last-ditch tackles he's made. Despite Gary Neville's complaints that their attacking moves have been too narrow, Arsenal have looked better when Sanchez has moved inside and they have been able to overload Monaco in the middle numerically as it seems to be the only way they can get past Kondogbia. To be honest the goal was just the icing on the cake, and clearly had quite a large element of fluke to it with the massive deflection off Mertesacker.

Very good defending from Monaco, admittedly Arsenal have had a few chances but with Giroud and Welbeck in the side you can pretty much always guarantee that they will waste a few of them before scoring. Martial looks dangerous although he is very reliant on his right foot and his decision-making isn't quite perfect. I also think Abdennour has got the balance between bringing the ball out of defence and making suicidal runs just about right. He's been doubly impressive considering he has had to cover for Elderson a fair amount.

It's funny to see that Berbatov hasn't changed a bit - raises his game for the big occasion and is still dropping as deep as Fabinho to get hold of the ball.

I'd be tempted to move Sanchez inside, put Welbeck on the right and maybe bring on somebody like Walcott to play on the right as Elderson looks a little suspect, and is now on a yellow card so they should absolutely be targeting him. In addition to that he often gets stranded as Martial doesn't seem to be tracking the runs of Bellerin (who put in a very good low cross for Giroud just before the goal). Arsenal are in a bit of danger in terms of their midfield options - Coquelin is now on a yellow card and Cazorla doesn't look all that comfortable playing as a centre mid (although he is still a genius on the ball).

Looking forward to the second half as this has been a good game, and it is not looking good at all for Arsenal.
