Coco,

has much been made of it in the press back in the UK?  Imagine that was a premiership team, and dare I say - imagine it was Chelsea?  They/We would be vilified for failing to honour the memory of the Bradford tragedy.  But then again, the press don't really cover the Bradford tragedy that much, do they?  It's not quite as "sexy" as Hillsborough (in that there's no police cover up, an ongoing investigation, etc).

I scan the major news/sport every morning, and I didn't see anything about the flare throwing and taunting with the lighters, just a mention about the fans on the pitch at the end.

Just went and checked the media again, the original stories are being updated by the looks of it, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2998503/Watch-Reading-fan-throw-flare-Bradford-supporters-shameful-pitch-invasion.html

Mass pitch invasion was described as 'lovely' by Gary Lineker on BBC

But the baton was slow to be taken up, like you say, if that was us, we would have been absolutely S L A U G H T E R E D.

I hope this behaviour is nipped in the bud, that's twice recently, there's no place for it these days. I so wanted Bradford to win and some of the taunts are just vile.

There probably isn't a huge fan base/organisation still milking that event for every inch of publicity they can either. I mean they laid a wreath covered with LFC branding at Ground Zero for 9/11 in New York, New York, in August. They have absolutely no connection to the event or area and nor was it the anniversary or anything. Ive never heard of this happening by any sports team/club. Just seems like a club that thrives off associating itself with tragedy. To me, shameless attempts at generating publicity/fan base by trying to manipulate very emotional situations.

Sorry if what Ive said comes across as harsh, but is any of it untrue?

That 9/11 thing by LFC is lacking in class and a sense of decency; not everything is about them.

Edit: that said, it does look as if, from today's evidence at the Hillsborough inquest, the police well and truly stuffed up and then set about covering their tracks. I've tended to doubt the full Liverpool case re. Hillsborough as their fans tried to bundle into matches at that time but (as I've laid into them often enough) their case looks sound and my previous and long-held view was wrong.

So what's happening tonight? What do people want? Arsenal to progress so it gives them more games or not to progress because they'll have the confidence in the title run in?

Either way it could cause us problems.

I think they will go through though, they are in good form.

Holy crap - just logged on to ask exactly the same thing. How bizarre

I was thinking that it might actually be a blessing in disguise that we have less games to play this season so we can focus on the league, so it would make sense to want Arsenal to have more games to play. They've already got the FA Cup games so maybe a couple of extra trips around Europe would benefit us too.

Arsenal to go out in the most dull fashion possible and Berbatov to look unbearably smug for the entire match despite not actually doing anything because Monaco have ten men behind the ball. That seems like the funniest option right now.

Not all athletes, Im an athlete for for my local club but somehow the models aren't lining up just yet.

Myeah, that will change once you're a multi million dollar (or €) pro athlete :-) Just a matter of time, I'm sure!

Come on Monaco

I want Arsenal to go 3-0 up, Monaco to score a late one and then Monaco to score late in extra time and knock them out

I want Arsenal through this round, just so they have that bit extra on their plate as a distraction.....then out in the quarters. :-)

If they come through this, it could give them the belief to go on and win it

When do Arsenal and their fans not think they'll win it? They'll choke....it's what they do in the CL.

Atletico just went 1-0 up against Bayer Leverkusen to level the tie on aggregate, Mario Suarez deflected shot from outside the box.

Brilliant game so far, sounds like a ridiculous atmosphere.
