Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea .... Done!

Featured Replies

Sounds like a really ordinary idea if we shift Schurlle to get Cuadrado. You have a German world cup winner who's above proven in EPL and CL, on the other hand you have a 27 year old playing in an inferior league, and no CL experience.

Seems like there is quite a bunch of Chelsea-fans that want him to come to Chelsea. I just don't see him as such an upgrade to what we already have for the right wing with Willian and Schürrle. Okay, his statistics are fine with 4 goals and 4 assists this season, and that's more than Willian has got (1+1, in comparable minutes played), but the Serie A is a different league. Who says he's going to be able to provide us the same amount of goals and assists, especially when he probably needs to accomodate to the Premier League and a new team, since he's only played in Colombia and Italy?

He ages to 27 in may also: I don't think he's really going to improve his game substantially in the upcoming years anymore and if your name is Fabregas that's fine, but this player doesn't seem to be a top player, which is what we need if we want to better our team.

Is he worth risking the whole FFP-thing, is he worth 25-30 million pounds? I prefer giving Schürrle more chances and rotate Willian and Schürrle more, or buying a real top player like Reus - even for less money - if he wants to come to our club of course.

this looks like a fairly detail account of what is happening with Salah

Fifield is about as reliable as they come when it comes to Chelsea, rarely reports gossip so there's a good chance Salah is in fact going.

Sorry but I don't understand the love for Schurrle, we can get in excess of £20m for a winger version of Tore Andre Flo. Schurrle has a good game coming on against tired defenders at around 70mins, he then gets a start and plays rubbish and for the money we could get for him I don't think it's viable to keep him when we can get near enough a straight swap for better player like Cuadrado.

Far point about Schurrle, he hasn't done himself much favours this season. But replace him with Cuadrado? That's the concern most people have. I think with the team we have, we either give the young player a go at that bench/rotation spot, or we sign a player capable of challenging Willian or Oscar. Cuadrado doesn't fit in either, may as well call Moses back, or just don't change the team setup midseason.

Why do you think he's not capable of challenging Willian or Oscar? Have you watched him play a lot? Genuine question.

I mean if we're paying 30million for a right winger, why not just add sign a good player that will actually fit our style of play, someone like Draxler for instance (two-footed, very good on the ball). I know Cuadrado is a decent player, but he's already 27 and that's a lot of money spent from a business standpoint when considering the number of years he'll give us.

Salah going to Roma , loan for 550K fee then 11 mill transfer in the Summer

Opens door for this Juan C to come in for 26.9 mill

Shirley staying hopefully

I don't think the Salah leaving is enough to warrant Schürrle's stay. Salah is playing squad rotation at this point, and I think Juan Cuadrado isn't going to settle for that at all. Either Schürrle plays for the rw, or Cuadrado, unless you want to rotate Hazard, and I think we all know that's not really happening.

One thing is fair, I think Schurrle and Cuadrado could battle it out for the right side, maybe left, and we can assess if Schürrle should be leaving.

If it's true that we are going in for him and that he is going to cost us £23-£26 million pounds then why didn't we just try and sign Sanchez in the summer for £30 million ? They are the same age and Sanchez is a far better player.

Maybe we wanted to give Willian and Schurrle a fair shot? I really thought both of them would push on a bit better from last season, but its been Oscar thats really done that.

Been following this, am optimistic a deal can be struck & am excited by the prospect. Finally a right winger. This has been one of our inadequacies this year - in many ways we've been much too reliant on Ivan bombing forward & Willian has been found lacking in the width/speed/shooting department as far as I'm concerned. If it happens then of course there are no guarantees that he'll adapt & prosper but it's worth the chance. In theory it would also bolster our right side that has been vulnerable because of Ivan's workload & of course also lessen the pressue on hazard tp produce on our left. It also gives us another option at times to play the 2nd striker and to play 442 as well if need be.

I'm not sure how Draxler fits our style of play more than Cuadrado. Good player no doubt and younger, but also far more expensive based on what Arsenal were quoted and he's played all season out on the left or occasionally in the middle.

Surely our style (and Mourinho's preference) requires an athletically gifted, pacy player capable of getting goals and assists as well as being a willing defender and presser of the ball. Surely Cuadrado (a converted wing-back who has more goals and assists than Draxler) is perhaps the best fit of all those available.

He's also free to play in the Champions League, something Draxler isn't.

There are doubts but at this point in time I think he's probably the best choice, especially if we ship on Salah and even Schurrle.

Salah out and Cuadrado in would certainly make us stronger and I would be all for that. But as inconsistent as he can be, there is no way I would let Schurrle go. When he is on form he is brilliant and has the knack of scoring important goals. Still only 24 and improving, if getting Cuadrado was at the expense of Schurrle then that would not be good business at all.

I'd love to keep him too, but the rumours are of bids around £25 million. That's hard to turn down.

The question is who we could get in for cheaper and I'm not sure.

There has not been a £23m bid for salah.

As others have said, that's not what I meant blud. £23m for Cuadrado, Salah will be going away on loan to Roma before a permanent deal of £11m or more is made.

I think if Salah goes then Schurrle might stay until at least the summer because then we have two players for both wings much like when we had Robben, Duff, Cole and SWP lots of quality options in our title push.

If Drogba retired at the end of the season Schurrle might be seen as an attacking option next season along with say Bamford being in the squad rather than us trying to buy a competent 2nd/3rd choice striker.

Hmm this transfer seems inevitable now. I must say it leaves me with a lot of questions.

If we sell schurrle and salah, surely our squad depth is considerably weaker. It's not like Jose will throw in youth players during the later stages of cup competitions. 4 players for 3 positions.

I'll admit I haven't seen that much of cuadrado aside from wc. But he seems a good player, not a great player. It strikes me as mid-season win-now mentality from mourinho. He's 27 and is basically the best of bunch available in Jan. 25m goes a long way in the summer when the proper top-level players become available.

Schurrle has so much potential. He's having a horrible season compared to his wc form. YET he's still scored 4 goals from limited playing time/and illness.

If this lad is simply a 12m upgrade on salah then fair enough. But if we sell schurrle too, I think our squad took a big hit and got older?

If schurrle doesn't pick it up in the second half of the season, we'll still make our money back in the summer and can attack some of the best talent in the world.

Matic aside, I hate the January transfer window.
