Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Hes joining us or arsenal. maaaybe utd but i doubt it. I dont think he shies away from defensive work so he would fit into our team.

He didnt have a great year but i think he was just unmotivated playing for that dead end club. I think hes one of the most talented english players at the moment. Which isnt saying a lot, but in any case, i feel he can get into our starting line up.

Young, english, tracks back, can beat a player . . . i think its a no brainer really.

EDIT: actually, my bad. arsenal have no place for him in the team. hes coming to chelsea

I think he's city bound personally although I'd take him for under 25m

a lot of people think so, because it is perceived as a money issue, but i dont think thats true. i think he wants trophies, and he knows chelsea are about to dominate england for hte next couple of years

Not overly interested in him unless he comes significantly cheaper than what I expect he would, even with a year on his contract.

They'd never sell to us, don't think Liverpool and United have had a direct transfer since post-world war two, plus we've got around 5/6 wingers in our team as it is.

I rate him but he needs to work on his end product, he's still very young and I'm sure he'll improve in that respect. No doubt if you buy him you'll have to pay over the odds.

City have already announced that they intend to sign a homegrown player to replace their outgoing ones. You'd have to think Sterling is at the top of their list.

Or John Stones seeing as all their centre backs are f**king useless.

Lol I was thinking that, but how embarrassing would that be to essentially admit that Mangala was a flop of epic proportions.

Wrote my main rant on rivals section, but jist of it is don't touch this overrated gobsh*te with a barge pole

seconded, he's massively inconsistent, attitude stinks, no better than what we have. Hope we don't go near him.

typical entitled attitude of many young english players in modern football. however, if he ends up here i am sure many of us will retract our opinions about him, similar to the fabregas signing.

I think he is worth a punt.. I actually rate him. Inconsistent yes, but also only 20 . Attitude needs a little adjusting? yes but again he is only 20. JT of all people is a great example of how the foolishness of youth can be turned around with the right management and focus.

As for the greed thing. Is it that he's after more money or has rearlised that he's playing for a sh*t football team, who go on an on about their history while he might be interested in his future and winning some trophys. He's taken a look at gerrards career and though, "ok he got lukcy to win the CL but that sh!t aint happening again, and no league title?  f**k that, I don't want to look back at my career and think why the f*ck did i not get out of this sh*t whole while I had the chance"

Now if this is his line of though, I think he is to be commended? Do you disagree?

Agree on both points. There's clearly something special there and to come into the league at that age and have that impact is a rare thing. This season he's improved in a few areas despite the team struggling.

But I don't quite see evidence of this 'attitude issue' that a few people have referred to. We talk about Liverpool's demise and Rodgers ineptitude all the time, yet when a player bases his career on these issues it's indicative of a poor character? That's mightily unfair and I think there's something a bit unsavoury at the root of some of these comments when you consider that those who have worked with him speak of a kid who just wants to play football.

I'm not saying he would choose city over arsenal for money, city have more chance of winning big trophies than arsenal.

Scousers in absolute meltdown today.

I'd have Sterling here for the right price. I said a few weeks ago that his current form is down to the fact that he's downed tools and wants out of Liverpool, this just proves it. He will want to move somewhere where his team is challenging for trophies each each. That means either us or Manchester City as Arsenal have no room for him and United's midfield is already crowded.

With FFP being "relaxed" this summer (i.e. probably f**king ripped up and re-drafted in its entirety), I can imagine City will be wading in guns blazing for players like Sterling.

They have a not-so-secret plan to redevelop their entire squad and focus on a core of young, homegrown players, if you believe what the press is saying about it (not just your daily rags, the times and the guardian have echoed this sentiment).

Cant see us spending that kind of money on this kid, and the wages issue is another problem. Jose has been vocal about not paying over the odds in terms of salary and stated that it could cause an "explosion" in the dressing room.

Not for us, would much rather avoid. For the money we can do better than Raheem Sterling, who has literally achieved nothing at club level over an illustrious 2 season career, the second of which has been a fundamental disappointment comparative to the first.

If Arsenal and City are sniffing around I just don't see Chelsea getting involved.

Hasn't really been the clubs transfer approach in recent years to get involved in bidding wars.

I think Hazard was maybe the last player?

Big player probably.

Although there was Willian and Salah with Spuds and the bin dippers.

Can't remember anyone being in for Costa or Cesc

With the youngsters being included in the squad we aren't in desperate need of another homgrown player, and i'm sure Jose knows we can find better value for money abroad.

That being said, Cuadrado and Salah haven't exactly been revelations, hopefully we're more careful with our scouting for our next attempt at a right winger.

Someone like Dries Mertens maybe.
