March 12, 201511 yr No, not really. There is no lack of loyalty in coming to terms with the fact that the players who you still love and admire have made stupid mistakes, if I didn't acknowledge it I'd be lying to myself Calling someone in the heat of match a racist slur does not make them a racist, a bit thick, a bit stupid yes, a racist no. belonging to the B.N.P and having swatiska's on the wall of your bedroom or idolising hitler, i think, would make you racist. March 12, 201511 yr No, not really. There is no lack of loyalty in coming to terms with the fact that the players who you still love and admire have made stupid mistakes, if I didn't acknowledge it I'd be lying to myself I think that's it, we all make stupid mistakes including our players at times, but their stupidities are inflated out of proportion when far more serious matters, in other teams, go unreported, or are even justified.
March 12, 201511 yr Calling someone in the heat of match a racist slur does not make them a racist, a bit thick, a bit stupid yes, a racist no. belonging to the B.N.P and having swatiska's on the wall of your bedroom or idolising hitler, i think, would make you racist. I never said he was a racist, I just said he racially abused another player. He is absolutely 100% not a racist, he just got angry and made a mistake, as we all do occasionally
March 12, 201511 yr They're not doing it cynically to make us look bad, they're doing it for their own gain, to improve their news channel, get people purchasing that morning's newspaper. The point is that their motives are interconnected. Yes, (most of) the media is profit-driven, and does what it does to attract viewers/ readers/ clicks. But when going after a particular club/ manager/ player is a proven strategy that appeals to a potential audience, then you can see why we are targeted. And we unquestionably are. Making us look bad is being done for their own gain.
March 12, 201511 yr I never said he was a racist, I just said he racially abused another player. He is absolutely 100% not a racist, he just got angry and made a mistake, as we all do occasionally You don't know that. The judge couldn't agree it happened. AF heard nothing. Noone did. That is a fact. The rest is just guesswork.

March 12, 201511 yr Please read the court report, it is very interesting and different from some of the propaganda. https://www.judiciary.gov.uk/judgments/r-v-john-terry-judgment/ Thanks for posting that, it was an interesting read. I just meant really that whether he is guilty or not, a moment such as that will always circulate around us, and because of it journalists will always be slightly more willing to have a go at us because of our past
March 12, 201511 yr Thanks for posting that, it was an interesting read. I just meant really that whether he is guilty or not, a moment such as that will always circulate around us, and because of it journalists will always be slightly more willing to have a go at us because of our pastThat's why I think the press and so on should be made to point out these reports so as not to dupe the public, or portray people, like JT, unfairly.Question Time on now, let's see what our politicians have to say tonight!
March 12, 201511 yr I don't remember one of our players making a near career ending tackle recently, or any other player who is fouled as much as Hazard is, or any other player denied penalties as much as Costa, or being called criminal. Even if all team players' misdemeanours were equal, tit for tat, they are not reported, or discussed in the same way. I had a whole post typed out in response to this, it wasn't particularity disagreeing or agreeing with your comment just providing you with examples that furfilling the criterias you have listed but as I I was typing away this whole tiresome topic just drained away my will to carry on. It's gotten worse than the previous Mikel groundhog thread. Not to worry though. I'll provide you with an extract, which addresses your comment about not remembering our players making a near career ending tackle recently, it went something along the lines of "Surely you remember Ramires last season against Aston Villa?!" Riveting, bet you wish I carried on now.
March 13, 201511 yr Has there been any media coverage and pundit outrage over the conduct of the United players in their FA Cup tie against Arsenal on Monday? Their players were diving all over the place, asking the ref to book Arsenal players and of course Di Maria even gave the ref that little 'push' to get himself sent off. I won't pretend to be outraged like all the people, media & pundits alike, who have all decided to get their panties in a bunch over our antics on Wednesday but I don't really see how we were any worse than United.
March 13, 201511 yr Or Veratti? Not only a dirty little player, it seems to be acceptable in the eyes of the ref and others.

I won't pretend to be outraged like all the people, media & pundits alike, who have all decided to get their panties in a bunch over our antics on Wednesday but I don't really see how we were any worse than United. I've seen a few pieces discuss our harassing of the refs and compare it to what United used to be well-known for (and which received a lot of criticism back in the day), plus people like Gary Neville have defended it (he works for Sky) as well as Stevie Gerrard. 'The media' is so diverse that if you want to see an agenda against us you will. United are getting plenty of column inches about their decline, Di Maria's failure, Falcao being a bust so asking for stories about their disciplinary issues is almost missing the wood for the trees. Or Veratti? Not only a dirty little player, it seems to be acceptable in the eyes of the ref and others. You think the ref on Wednesday night was biased towards PSG?
March 13, 201511 yr Agree that if you want to see a media campaign then you will and in fact I am not really that caught up in the whole topic, this was my first post I believe. I generally don't like playing the whole victim card at every opportunity, I prefer to leave that to Liverpool. That said, I personally have seen no coverage of the way United players conducted themselves on Monday night (nobody is talking about their decline or Falcao- completely different subject) which is in stark contract to the widespread outrage in connection to the way our players conducted themselves on Wednesday.

That said, I personally have seen no coverage of the way United players conducted themselves on Monday night (nobody is talking about their decline or Falcao- completely different subject) which is in stark contract to the widespread outrage in connection to the way our players conducted themselves on Wednesday. The reason our conduct was bought into sharp focus was because that's what the pundits on Sky focussed on (Carragher and Souness), so the headlines were basically their direct quotes. That's what people on social media were talking about and that's where the media went. That's why it was given so much prominence the next day. Fact is you then had people like Neville (same employer) come out and defend it along with people like Gerrard so amongst the 'pundits' there is balance. But my point has always been this - there is enough written on a daily basis to find an agenda if you want to. I could go to the Telegraph right now and find a story that supports the claims that there's an agenda (Jim White's piece has some fantastic quotes that could be taken out of context) and a Henry Winter piece to disprove that. Same in other papers. I think the problem with this thread is that it's far too general. There's absolutely an argument that certain writers and possibly even certain publications treat us unfavourably, so why not name them? Be more specific. The answer to the title of this thread is obviously no, but are there sections of it that need to be scrutinised? Absolutely yes.
March 13, 201511 yr http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/chelsea/209601/i-didnt-know-i-bought-it-from-a-booth-outside-boris-becker-apologises-after-wearing-chelsea-headhunters-scarf-at-stamford-bridge.html Cheers for enlightening me - I feel bad but I had a good chuckle at that! Or Veratti? Not only a dirty little player, it seems to be acceptable in the eyes of the ref and others. Haha he reminds me of Paul Scholes (in that respect) - not dissimilar in their style of play and team role (particularly Scholes towards the end of his career), although obviously Verratti isn't even close to his level of quality yet. Both terrible tacklers.
March 13, 201511 yr Rent boys, rent boys, rent boys, that's all I ever hear. We are all racists, we are all scum bags, that's all I ever see and hear, as Mourinho said, we are the clowns, accept it. Living up north despite my family from West London and long time Chelsea supporters I've found that it's a crime to support Chelsea. I've even had to explain myself for the actions of a few idiots, I get the term rent boy, like racism is a huge crime but generalising is perfectly fine. Despite us winning we still get the sh*t stick, perhaps we are admired by some but we are often seen as the enemy of football, it's something I feel we've all had to get used to, now that we are in the limelight again going for the title it appears to be getting just as bad as it was before but actually even worse. I say f**k it, we can't win either way, we will always get sh*te no matter what we do, so I suggest we stop caring about it, why not just accept inevitability, it's the way going foreward, end of the day, they will never stop us fro winning stuff, that's what we will do. That's why we will win the league.

March 13, 201511 yr http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31849951 Stevie Me saying all players do it Well of course they do but it's only disgusting when Chelsea do it. Because people love to hate Chelsea... They foam at the mouth and spew bile at us every chance they get. Just check the comments on this article. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/mar/12/chelsea-psg-jose-mourinho-dominic-fifield No one outside of Chelsea fans wants to see us win the league... No "neutrals choice" articles for us like we saw last year with Liverpool. Doesn't matter what we do or achieve as a club we absolutely despised and the best thing we can do is just keep our heads down, win the title and then tell everyone else "f**k you", we did it in spite of all you and I hope you all choke on your cornflakes at the sight of JT holding aloft another trophy.
March 13, 201511 yr We did go a bit over board with the ref surrounding the other day though. More so than ever.

Spot on! I have posted this pic before but it just cracks me up every time. JT will be holding the PL trophy aloft come May

That's why we will win the league. It annoys me how some fans have a go at other clubs fans like its their fault whatever happens with the team. I find it very childish tbh. Aslong as we win it I don't care it makes winning things even better when we get sh*t. Loads of clubs would love to be where we are.
March 13, 201511 yr We did go a bit over board with the ref surrounding the other day though. More so than ever. I wondered at the time if that was because no one reacted to the matic foul, and there was no red.
March 13, 201511 yr All I can say is thank god Patrick Collins has gone. The metro, Matic, PSG...he'd have had a field month.
