Yes you can, it's not unusual for players to do that if they feel they will benefit more from the freekick than the advantage. Ref applied the rules correctly, we just didn't make the most of it.

In his opinion he thought we had a bigger advantage, with ivanovic on the touch line than he did with a free kick 25-30 yards out. I'm not saying he didn't apply the rules correctly. I just disagree with his opinion, and like I said, always play to the whistle.
