Davey Baby: "Stevie G - I adore him, I want to bear his children"

You'd think mls and galaxy would be kinda sh*tty about the way this is being portrayed. I mean people joke about it being a retirement league but this is legit being treated like lord Steven me first of his name, king of the dippers and protector of the scouserealm is retiring and it can't be good for their marketing.

Perhaps all the players who have won Premier League medals should form a guard of honour tomorrow. Wear their medals and show him what he's missed.

Can they wear all the medals they've won too?

He was destroyed by the slip last season. Watching him spend the rest of the game taking random pot shots instead of passing to better placed team mates was a joy to behold. Add in the fact that this season hasn't panned out as he and the Scouse loving media would have liked and you've almost got the perfect send off.

At least the DJ's in Southport can now breath a sigh of relief.

You know what I'm dreading though when he comes back and joins the Sky team. You just know it's inevitable.

You're right, it's going to happen. Can you imagine, him and Carragher together. A frightening thought.

He's just leaving to go another club, right? He's not actually dead, is he?

I actually thought he'd died when I first saw the headlines after his "Liverpool retirement" was announced. I don't think I've ever seen such fuss being made over a player in the modern times.

Look everybody, Steven Gerrard's Liverpool career in stickers

:rolleyes::face_palm:

BBC or LFCBC? It's hard to tell these days. On the front page alone, there's a Gerrard quiz, Gerrard hairstyles through the years and Brenton gushing about Gerrard being the greatest Liverpudlian who ever walked the earth, or something. Even better than Gladstone... Oh and Wenger is saying he also thinks Gerrard is great.

The passing of a legend

I read this in a lavarorial sense, I think the author thinks he's dead.

“When it comes to success for Liverpool, I don’t think it will come down to whether there is a Scouse lad or a local lad in the team. What is important is having a group of very good footballers, and a coach who is good tactically."

No sh*t Sherlock.... I'm sure he'd love someone to take over his eternal position of local hero

"It wasn’t until Istanbul had calmed down a couple of weeks later and I reflected on the whole journey of the Champions League triumph, I realised the Olympiakos goal was such a huge goal.”

Was that when you handed in your transfer request Stevie?

Does that mean all those speculative toe punts were scored with a boot designed for those who were less gifted?

Unlike a certain Frank Lampard whose always worn Adidas World Cups, or Copa Mundials, now thats a real players boot!

I think Gerrard's ott status is a reflection of how Liverpool as a club are in decline...they have had many better teams and players IMO, but cos they have been living off scraps for 25 years, Gerrard has been promoted far beyond his ability...put him in one of their top sides and he wouldn't be noticed...eg the team that was on top when I was growing up in the 80s, with Barnes, Beardsley, rush etc made a far bigger contribution and were far more entertaining to watch

And given the nauseating bile and hype that is already out there, think chelsea and villa are owed a huge debt by non Liverpool fans for denying him the 'send off he deserves' in last 12 months...if we are sickbed by all the stuff now, just imagine if he'd won title or the fa cup
